Our "Choose Your Own Adventure" double date appetizer stop at Wissota Chophouse was made…read moreunforgettable thanks to the bartender Sara. From the moment we sat down for appetizers, she brought such a fun, welcoming energy to the evening. Sara, a Louisiana native, has that natural Southern charm -- engaging and full of personality. Her smile is contagious, and she didn't just serve drinks -- she genuinely interacted with us, joked along with our group, and made us feel like we were the only people at the bar. She was attentive without hovering, quick with recommendations (the drink she recommended was so good). She clearly loves what she does. You can tell when a bartender is just doing a job versus creating an experience -- Sara absolutely creates the experience. She helped set the tone for our whole night, and honestly, she was one of the highlights of our double date. If you're heading to Wissota for drinks or appetizers, sit at the bar and hope Sara is working. She'll make your night. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! The meal was okay at best, nothing impressive for the price. I expected more. I could make a better meal at home. The portions were just right and the steak was cooked perfectly! My Mom got the Wild New Zealand Red Roughy (rotating seasonal fish dish) and couldn't contain herself. She finished all of it as well! I got the Shrimp and Sausage Dora Maar (rotating pasta dish) and it was to die for. I also made room for the espresso martini - super smooth and not too strong, as well as the Pink 'Casso Martini. Both were expertly made. The wait staff was pleasant and patient. Chef Andy had a calm demeanor and greeted us on our way in which was a very nice touch. This place is elegant without being too pretentious. Highly recommend!

For entrees, we entertained the miso glaze salmon & Gorgonzola steak! 100% worth it. The mango salsa on the salmon was the perfect compliment to the pistachio crusted fish. The steak-- perfection! That's all I can say. Perfection. A couple whispered for us to try to chocolate mousse cake. If I didn't know better I would've thought they were paid actors, and paid really well :) the chocolate mousse cake was an immaculate balance of moist cake, velvety/smooth mousse and the nuts were the cherry on top. Along with great food, drinks, the server was amazing (really bummed I can't remember her name) along with the ambiance.

So their menu has both sweet and savory crepes, savory paninis, and waffles. EVERYTHING looks delicious. My friends and I all opted for savory pains, and a crepe to share. I ordered the turkey, havarti and spinach panini. Delicious doesn't do it justice. A lot of places will serve a sandwuch on like a white bread pressed on a flat grill and call it a panini. Not here! Fresh sourdough, crunchy, and pressed in a panini press. Grill marks everywhere, crunchy goodness, and delicious fillings. I love how melty havarti is, and the pesto spread is absolutely divine. One friend ordered the same sandwich as me, and the other friend ordered the 3 cheese grilled cheese and it looked absolutely ooey gooey delish. And trust when I say, the sandwiches are HUGE!! I brought half of mine home for lunch tomorrow. Then, we ordered the Orange crepe, with caramelized orange slices, chocolate drizzle, and fresh whipped cream. O M G. It's just enough sweetness, with that fresh citrus. It was subtle and delicate, but so full flavored at the same time. The Owner was so friendly!! That doesn't impact the taste of the offerings, of course, but it just made the whole experience so enjoyable. Everything is fresh fresh fresh, the menu changes seasonally so there's always going to be something new and exciting. Right now, there's a "limited time only" s'mores crepe that is calling my name!! A couple things that are not ideal: it's Broadway district so parking sucks. Especially with all the snow piled up, it's just cumbersome to get there (but so worth it!). The other thing is their hours during the week... open 8-5 which happen to coincide with my work hours. BUT a wonderful weekend (for me) treat!
