Parking: Free street parking is relatively easy to find behind the building, street cleaning was Friday 11a-1pm. Experience with "Betty": Walked in and received excellent service from "Betty", she really took her time with me, spend 35-40 minutes with me, cutting my hair from chest length to neck, she was very attentive during the session. I am not a very talkative person myself, but enjoyed the chill chit-chat with Betty in both mandarin & English. Betty is Chinese Philipino who speaks English, Philipino/Tagalog, and Mandarin. I was ready to pay $30+tips since my hair was kinda long over chest, but surprised that I only got charged $25 total, I double checked if I heard it wrong and already holding out extra cash, but then realized it was a kind gesture from Betty to wish me luck on the job searching. She didn't have to do that for me, but she did. Support small business is supporting ourselves: I almost went with the chainstore supercuts due to their transparent pricing, but I am so glad I came here, low-cost chainstore tend to prioritize efficiency to maximize margins, no way the staff are allowed to spend 40 min for a $29 cut with their manager watching & constantly taking online bookings. It was these small things that reminds me of the significance of supporting our local small business- people working here actually cared and they showed the humanity through actions rather than pretty yet empty slogans from big corporate/chainstores. Generation Cuts is neighborhood shop with a simple, down-to-earth, classic type of vibe. They have some middle-age and a few older clients that day. Their men's haircuts are reasonably priced at $18 & are good for the business crowd. Called their phones at lunch, they mentioned they take walk-ins, and dropped by after work later that day. Tina gave me my cut & was really kind and took extra time to be thorough with the hair. She blended the back and sides with the clippers, and then did the top by hand, and went over the back and sides a bit with some scissor work. I was really satisfied with the cut, the service, and the price. I'll definitely drop by again & would recommend to anyone looking for a cut that is affordable and pretty standard. read more

Been coming here (Michele) the last 2 decades and it's the most reasonable haircut price you'll find especially in & around the Peninsula. The only reason the price went up a little was because it was a change in ownership/management. Still, can't beat the prices they offer here. Took my kid to have his hair cut. The people there are nice and the place is clean. That was the good part. I asked the lady to used #1 to shaved the side and back of the head but she didn't. My regular barber still was closed due to the pandemic and was already 5 months since having a haircut.I noticed this place was open and gave it a try.They check your temperature and gave mask to wear during your haircut.First time cut was satisfactory and price is super affordable.I might change places for my haircut because price is half off of what my regular barber changes,save me money but only thing is the time available for my type of haircut(flat top) person not available till latter in the day my regular barber starts at 9am,I'm a morning person but I guess it's a sacrifice. ps-would be nice if they had more variety of magazines to read or something like a tv to watch while customers wait to occupy time till you are next in line for a haircut. read more

Tina did a good job on fixing my hair cut. It's more clean and presentable. They take your temperature before you sit down before hand. Plus, they offer you a medical mask if your are wearing a N95 or P95 mask. Thank goodness I got my hair cut before San Mateo County was put on watch list. read more

Here $10 gets you a good haircut, but only by the shop's veteran barber Michelle. Michelle is the one customers look for, which makes her the queen of Generation Cuts. Michelle conjures up sincere conversation and can cut a great haircut at the same time. Michelle has been here for years. She knows the vendors up and down the block. There aren't many reviews here because most of her clientele are older folks and their children/grandchildren. Which makes me wonder if that's why they called it Generation Cuts. I'll ask next time. 4 stars because Michelle is tough to have do your hair. Parking is a bit tough too. Parking spots on Mission and in the back is seldom found. Always great service whenever I come in! By the way, been coming in for years. I always get my haircut with Michelle, she is so nice and great to have a conversation with while getting my cut. I recently made an appointment with Michelle, but ended up coming in an hour early because my plans change earlier in the day. She gladly took me in early even though she had another appointment coming up soon. My haircut came out great, it didn't feel rushed even though she had her next appointment soon. Great price and also they take precaution by wearing masks (they provided me a new one because so much hair got into my mask), wiping down seats, and they change out the covering after each guest. I was so nervous to get a haircut, but my hair was too long already. Appointments and Walk-ins are welcome here. Upon arrival, owner gave us wipes, an extra mask, and took our temperature. There were 2 waiting benches to enforce social distancing and only 2 employees cutting hair, 1 in the main cutting area and another in the room. Despite this unprecedented time, their price was reasonable: $16 and up for men and $19 and up for women. This is the first time a lady cut my hair so carefully without cutting off more than I asked. The first time I came here, I got an awful haircut because the lady was impatient so I decided I wouldn't come here again. The second time, other places were closed on a Saturday or too expensive, so I came back here as a last result because I needed a hair cut pretty badly. Michelle cut my hair this time and she did a fine job. She listened to my requests and got rid of my cowlicks when I asked her to fix them.
