General Security was great when they installed my in 2017. That is in part because I had to get very senior management involved (that's another story). However, I find their customer service central team to be unclear, and they don't respect people's time. They don't read your (my) emails. They just randomly send service people, who then don't get the job right, and then have to come back. And are a little half-ass. It's like they keep busy, but no one really is paying attention, or is focused enough (smart enough) to get things done right the first time. They are just hard, and super money and time-wasting, to deal. I will need to move on. And to be clear, this is not a random product, this if my &@)$^#&B security system to protect my family. I am sorry to say that I am completely disgusted with this company. After being a customer for almost a decade, and resigning a maintenance contract for my system in March of 2025 for $430.00 I sold my house on 5/16/25 and they refused to refund me anything back for the unused portion. they said it was because I lad a service call in April - a call that was responded to by a tech that literally had no idea what to do. he had to call another tech and I did most of the work reconnecting the device to my WiFi. In October 2014 while attempting to recode my keypad via telephone with General my keypad shut down. General Security sent a repairman that very same evening on his way home from Great Neck. The keypad was recoded, and a bill was generated and promptly paid. I was given a master code and recoding steps. In or about the second week of October, 2015, using the instructions given me by General in 2014 I attempted to recode the keypad again. It jammed on "check Zone 9." After several unfruitful attempts to fix my key pad via telephone with General Security it was determined that a service call would be necessary. No service appointment was available for six days. When I booked the appointment I was told that the tech would attempt to reprogram the keypad, but would also bring a new keypad with him in the event that it would not be repaired. October 15, 2015 Woody walked into my apartment and immediately offered to contact General Security and "help me" arrange for an upgrade. As a matter of fact, in the less than 15 minutes he was here, he asked me twice if I would like him to make an appointment with sales for an upgrade. When I declined he insisted that my whole system was shot and needed to be replaced. Woody apparently was not there to repair my system -- but to sell me a new system! I explained to him that I had caused the problem when I was attempting to put a new security code into the keypad. He maintained that the main panel had coincidentally burnt out at the same time that I was trying to change my code and that it was not merely a keypad problem!!!!!! On his work ticket he wrote "must replace panel" -- a blatant misdiagnosis of the problem. He told me to schedule a repair call and left! Woody's job ticket indicates "job tested & operational". This is simply untrue. Please check both work tickets. They are self explanatory. October 16, 2015. Adam came with a new control panel. I explained to him that I had caused the problem trying to recode and that it was my key pad -- not my control panel which was in distress. Adam asked if I had messed with anything in the control panel -- I had not. He got a new keypad from his truck, hooked it up, reprogrammed it and the problem was solved. Why couldn't Woody have replaced the keypad the day before, rather than attempt to sell me a new system??????? (Adam's work ticket was paid in full on October 19, 2015.) If General did not have an experienced tech on hand on October 15 my appointment should have been rescheduled. Instead you sent Woody who was only interested in getting me to upgrade - and when unsuccessful - told me I needed unnnecessary repairs. And now General is billing me for Woody's sales call. read more

Renee Fonseca, Maxim Meneses, Tirso Gomez, and Luis Ramirez are all excellent employees and have been a pleasure to work with! I wish I could leave a Google review for them, but I was not able to find how to do so....so, I settled for a Facebook review. They are very professional and knowledgeable! They never seem like they are rushing - they seem more concerned with doing a quality job! Much appreciated! I have nothing but good things to say about them! They will lie to you and lock you in a 5 year contract. Do not do it. If the company is good you know you shouldn't need a contract. stay away from company with long contract. read more

I have used General Security since 2006 in my previous house and in my current house. I upgraded my system last week. I kept General Security because of the kind and courteous staff they have. Whether it's customer service, sales , install or service everyone is great , helpful and easy to get along with. I highly recommend General Security for your home security needs. read more

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INSTALLATION! After sending an unfriendly, recalcitrant technician to rewire 4 of my brand new windows, the technician refused to install sensors in the sills claiming that it would void the window warranty should water settle beneath the sensor and in to the window frame. Windows sills are pitched at an angle to prevent water from accumulating under the sill and these were the sensors that I had in place for years without any issue. The technician refused to comply and when I returned to inspect the work, he installed ugly external sensors. He butchered the edges of the window adjacent to the sill by not drilling straight and created burrs that resulted in damage to the sash. The side sensors were install improperly resulting in wires bulging everywhere and holes that were needlessly too large. There goes a $3,000 window! Nice? General refused to make good on replacing the window despite them sending out their field service rep who all but admitted to me directly that the technician botched the installation. The service manger and I agreed to compromise by having them waive the installation fee (duh!) and reimbursement for a just a replacement sash and I would have to live with the sensors on the side and bottom of my brand new window and let the curtains hide the wires and holes. General never followed through with their word to reimburse me. Instead, they were sending me past due notices along with legal notices seeking payment for a botched installation that we agreed on terms to settle. They are the WORST company to deal with and I dropped them like the sack of dirt that they are. Seek your alarm needs elsewhere as they are fantastic at taking your money while providing union employees to trash your house and wreck your windows. read more

HORRIBLE company. We used them for many years. They dropped the ball on several things and when I fired them they tried to make me adhere to a 30 yr old contract that was three corporations ago!!!! Had to get a lawyer etc. These people are bad bad news. Stay far away. read more
