I cannot say enough about this fantastic dealership! First - family owned, I'm all about it. But nationwide - even better. Sit and listen to our story. We are on our 3rd camper - a Brinkley, purchased from General RV at the show in PA back in 2024. We bought a 2025 Z2900. Prior to our current camper, we had a Jayco travel trailer and then a Jayco 5th wheel, both purchased from Camping World (2 different dealerships since they are franchises). The BS we dealt with for years with these campers and dealers would make this the longest Yelp post ever. So let me skip to the good. Everyone at General RV has been amazing! Their sales people are amazing. They bend over backwards to make it work. But even better? Their service department is second to none! We are on year two with our camper and the service department has always gone out of their way to make sure we are taken care of. Lori is a TOTAL rockstar! Unlike Camping World, there is no BS and lies. The General RV service department gets it DONE. So responsive! So communicative! We will never buy another Brinkley (because that is all we will ever buy again) from anywhere else! read more

Extremely dissatisfied with the service -- or lack of service -- I've received for warranty repairs. I'm in the middle of PCSing with the Army and needed some emergency repairs done on my trailer before my move. The first time I called, I was told to just show up whenever and they'd get me in since these were "camping critical" repairs. So I show up the next day, sign in, and wait three hours. When I finally go up to the desk to ask what's going on, I'm told that since I didn't have an appointment, they can't help me. I tried explaining what I was told on the phone and basically got told I was lied to. The rep got me the earliest appointment available -- two weeks out. I show up for that appointment and drop off the trailer. The next day my service rep suggests I call my RV warranty company to help speed things up. I do, and they tell me they already sent a reply to General RV. I pass that along to my rep and she gives me a thumbs up. I pick up the trailer the next day and ask about the warranty -- I'm told everything is good. Then I get home and get a call from my warranty company saying they're still waiting on information from General RV. Apparently they need the converter manufacturer to look at it before approving anything. I call my service rep and she tells me again that everything has already been sent. I let it go and figure the converter can get looked at when I bring the trailer back for the pipe repairs in two weeks. Not ideal, but fine. Then, three days before that appointment, I get a text saying they won't be able to start on my trailer until half a week after the original date -- and that despite having over a week to source the parts, they haven't even started. I don't know if my expectations are too high or if I just don't understand how trailer repair works, but this is hands down the worst experience I've ever had with any kind of repair shop. read more

If I could rate with zero stars I would. Purchased a NEW Tiffin Byway from General RV Ashland Virginia, the actual RV was in Utah. We had to make accommodations to get there on our own. My husband went to pick it up and drive it home to Virginia. He had some problems noted, they advised use pictures and an explanation would be sent to General rv in Ashland. He got on the road and had several issues, not something you'd expect from a brand new coach. A check engine light that required a mobile tech in the middle of the night, not cheap. He was still having other issues and drove straight to General Rv in Ashland VA. They did a required state inspection that failed because the marker lights did not work, on a brand new RV? They said the repair would have to be approved by Tiffin. It was approved the same day, but the service department didn't open their email for 3 days so the work couldn't be started. We are supposed to be going on a planned vacation this week, they still haven't started the repairs, we were told we would be the first appointment today. I called the service advisor to check the progress and she let me know that there were other priorities, like new deliveries, ahead of us. So we've had a brand new Tiffin for 3 weeks and it still hasn't made it home. We are so upset about this, so much for camping in our new RV. I don't understand how you can spend good, hard earned money on a brand new rv and it have so many issues. There should be a quality inspection before it is sold, there shouldn't be an issue fixing those problems in a timely manner once they are found. Our current issue is wiring, they don't have to wait for any parts to be ordered or manufactured. Our family is very disappointed in the service department at this location (Ashland Virginia). We have gotten nowhere with our service advisor or the service manager, what a disappointment! They said it would be done Thursday and aren't budging on that. We are trying to leave early Friday morning, we won't have much time to prep and load the coach, will probably have to cancel Friday reservations. read more

The Issue: General RV Center in Ashland VA illegally sold us a very expensive used Tiffin motorhome that was hacked for diesel emissions and it cost us close to 7000 dollars to make it legal to drive again. And then they refused to cover the cost. It is illegal for a motor vehicle dealer in Virginia to sell a vehicle that does not meet current emissions standards, and they know that. Background story: We bought a 2019 Tiffin Wayfarer from General RV Center in Ashland VA back in May 2025. While the camper wasn't perfect, it was in very nice shape and had the features we wanted for some longer trips during our retirement. I've had a motorhome for a while, but never had one with a diesel motor. The coach drove well for the test drive and on the trip home, about 100 miles. Looking online, it had 3 outstanding recalls with Mercedes for the chassis and I didn't understand why they were never completed but figured I would get it serviced myself. About a week after getting it home, the dash lit up with warning lights. I thought it might be the rear wheel sensors which was one of the recall items. I drove it in the the MB dealer in limp mode at 30mph and left it with them. About 4 days later they called and asked if I had done anything to the emissions system, I said no. They told me that the diesel particulate filter (DPF) had been hacked and parts modified so that it could not work anymore. Apparently this is a thing people do so they don't have to deal with adding DEF fluid and try to get better mileage. As part of that hack, they download and overwrite the vehicle's computer software with a "Tune" so it won't recognize that the emission system isn't working anymore. It is not legal in the US and is advertised for "off road use only" One of the 3 recall items included a reflash of the computer, so now I knew why it was never done. The coach stayed at the MB dealership for about 3 weeks. The DPF was replaced (over 3500 for the part alone) along with the SCR which is like a diesel catalytic converter. All told, it cost about 6800 to make the coach legal again. If I had continued to drive the coach or had tried to sell the coach myself without fixing it, I would be guilty of a crime. After the repair at the MB dealer, I had the coach back at General RV in Ashland VA so they could repaint the front bumper which was part of the deal we made when we bought it. When the coach was done (4 weeks to paint a bumper) I picked it up and had a conversation with the manager, Ben. He claimed they did not know anything about the emissions system being hacked. When I dropped the coach off for the bumper repair, I asked Danny, the service rep at General if they worked on diesel vehicles there. He assured me that they have great master diesel mechanics on staff. So why one of their great mechanics never looked it over before they tried to sell it or did and they said nothing, is another mystery to me. The day I picked up the coach, the operations manager Ben, went off for a few minutes and came back and offered to cover half of the repairs. He knew they were in the wrong, otherwise he would have offered me nothing. I want them to cover what the repairs cost me, nothing more, nothing less. As a licensed motor vehicle dealer, they should have never had the vehicle up for sale with hacked emissions. If one of their great diesel mechanics had given it a check, he would have seen the hacked SCR just by looking underneath the camper since the weld was visible even at that point. I have complaints in with the Virginia attorney general's consumer affairs office as well as the Better Business bureau regarding this matter. General RV Center has a huge showroom with lots of people and many RV's on the lot. I would have never guessed that they would sell me a vehicle that was not legal to drive. My advice to anybody looking to spend a large amount of money on an RV, especially one with a motor in it would be to look elsewhere since General RV Center is only interested in getting your money and keeping it. read more

I honestly never expected to be giving General RV a 5 star review for various reasons on the front end of the sale and experience with our previous repair account manager, but when I arrived for repair for a recall item I got signed in with a woman who seemed to be in charge of the repair reps and mentioned our experience with our previous rep and she reassigned us with another rep and he was amazing...very clear about what is covered under warranty and what is not and set expectations about our work order time. The a/c turned out to be just a wire that had shaken out of the wire nut and they fixed it and we were on our way....the stove recall was fixed and we are on the road again. UPDATE: As of 5/24/25, I have no response from General RV after emailing them more details as they requested. I don't want the last impression of my review to be that they have resolved the issue. They have not. DO NOT SHOP AT GENERAL RV. THE PROBLEM: We shopped there on 5/10/25 and found a great option we didn't expect to find, left a $1500 deposit that we thought would simply inform the financing options, and planned to come back a week later to finalize everything, including the financing. Two days later we found out the financing details and made the decision to back out. They let us know ("reminded" us) that the fine print said the deposit was nonrefundable. The process is very confusing and left way too much unspoken. We did sign a document, but understanding that things weren't final yet led us to overlook some fine print stating that the deposit was nonrefundable. If we'd known that the deposit was to "hold the RV," and wouldn't make much of a difference with the financing, and was nonrefundable, we would have put down as little as possible. We had never shopped for an RV before. But we have shopped for plenty of cars, houses, etc. In other situations, the financials are TALKED through rather thoroughly to make sure nothing is missed, and the financing information is provided up front (before putting down a deposit). And Carmax, for one example, will place a hold on a car for free. When we complained, they offered us a $3000 discount on a purchase we had already decided not to make. The interest would have wiped out that $3k advantage in no time. The only solution they were willing to volunteer was one they would profit from. For $1500 (our deposit) they seem willing to stand fast and lose our future business. For us, $1500 is a big deal. They might have the paperwork on their side, but shame on them. This demonstrated to us a clear lack of transparency and integrity. (Exception: We do want to praise our salesperson, Mary, who was and is fantastic. She was brand new, but met us where we were and gave us an incredibly tailored experience. She also lobbied to grant us any help with the deposit situation. We would shop with Mary anywhere else anytime.) We would have been shopping there again when we were more ready. WE WILL NOT EVER RETURN THERE NOW. read more

Ordered our RV and signed buyers order with a $1000 down payment. We secured our own financing loan with a lender, but General RV would not provide the dealer cost invoice to the lender. Even though General RV does business with this specific lender. I asked why not and the answer was General RV policy. I then asked if I pursued my RV loan via General RV if they would provide the dealer cost invoice to the lender and the answer was, yes. Bottom line, they want to force me to go through General RV fianancing. We walked away from the deal and forfeited our down payment. I am writing this review to share my profoundly disappointing experience with General RV, particularly regarding the damage caused to my RV during service and the subsequent refusal to acknowledge or correct their mistakes fully. I also want to alert other potential customers--especially people of color--to exercise extreme caution when dealing with General RV. Service Failures and Additional Damage 1. Power Cord Reel Burnout A general RV technician damaged my RV's power cord reel motor by leaving the button in the "in" position, causing it to burn out. Even though the damage did not exist when I dropped off my RV, I was forced to pay over $1,500 for a replacement. The same technician error happened again with the water hose reel--the button was left engaged, burning out that motor as well. 2. Tile Grout Left Undone I was billed for tile re-grouting, but Quality Control never happened: * The grout work was never completed. * The tiles were merely put in place and remain loose to the point where someone has to stand on them when the slides are extended. 3. Missing Original Parts I explicitly requested that the original switch be returned to me, but it was not included with my RV when I picked it up. This part was essential to keep my bay looking symmetrical and verify the repair cost against the installed cheap-looking switch. Management's Response Danny Browder, my service technician, initially admitted fault before I left my RV for the final repair. However, after speaking with a manager, General RV backtracked and claimed there was no wrongdoing on their part--despite unmistakable evidence that the technician left the switches engaged and caused the motors to burn out. Their refusal to offer more than a minimal financial concession is disheartening and unprofessional. Moreover, while I do not want to generalize my experience as a person of color, the dismissive nature of General RV's response makes me question whether all customers receive the same care and consideration. The abrupt turnaround in communication and unwillingness to rectify obvious service mistakes have left me feeling overlooked and undervalued. Final Thoughts 1. Forced to Pay to Get My RV Back Despite the evidence of technician negligence, I had no choice but to pay for the repairs to retrieve my RV. 2. Poor Quality Control My concerns about the missing grout and unresolved reel issues were brushed aside. QC checks are either extremely lax or non-existent. 3. Lack of Accountability Management's final decision--that the motor failures were somehow my responsibility--speaks volumes about how they stand behind (or, rather, fail to stand behind) their service work. If you value your RV, your money, and a sense of fair treatment, I strongly recommend thinking twice--or seeking a different service center--before taking your RV to General RV. My experience shows they can damage your vehicle and force you to bear the costs. People of color should be particularly cautious; based on how my complaints were dismissed, I wouldn't want anyone else to endure a similar situation. You have been warned. read more

Noticed some structural issues on RV that were concerning and went right to Ashland General RV. Lucky for us we were assigned to service advisor Danny Browder. He was able to get our rig looked at the next day (someone had just cancelled) and the techs were able to repair the problems of concern. Staff 5 stars- Without exception all are polite and professional. Sales 4 Stars- We got a price match on a unit in Sacramento while in Tampa. We were told that for a 2022 and if it were a 2023 5% more. This was in text and email, no contract though we have a deposit. The unit was to be available in April or May, then July and finally August. It was to be delivered to Ashland which is closer to our home. The unit has a 2022 RV and 2023 truck so we went up slightly from the promised 2022 price. The salesman honored everything he told us. If we had gotten updates without having to ask he'd be closer to 5 stars. They had a used one we didn't want and he told us honestly the Entegra warranty wouldn't transfer. Finance 3.5 Stars- We didn't finance but they processed the sale. Everything we were told was clear and concise. They would approach 5 stars but the down payment we agreed on was half what they put on my card. They refunded the half but it never should have happened. They did suggest to title at a private firm in my state since it would cost less and take 15 minutes instead of waiting months for tags. Service 1 Star- The unit was not prepped when I came for the inspection. There was no adapter to connect 30A to their 50A post, there was no water or LP for testing. I found three issues with the RV. They fixed two and one broke on the way home; shoddy work. I'll do it myself. At pickup there was no gasoline. They had me follow them to a station and filled it. I also noted a heating pad was loose and they missed it in "prep". I fixed it. I do not recommend this place for service; no QC. read more

On 04.19.25, we had the pleasure of meeting a great Sales Consultant, Hillary. She was the best! During that visit we also met Jimmy and Joey. They allowed us a couple of days to research the towing capacity of our truck. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for the camper we were looking at. Overall my impression of General RV improved as we dealt with the team longer. 1. The Service team is amazing!!! 2. Sales were good but not as clear as they should have been. 3. The facility is so easy to move around in. Parking is easy, and there is ample parking even for RVs!!! The inside of the building is clean, and frankly, the signage is amazing. (I hate going to a huge store, and you have to ask someone where the restrooms are, where the vending machines are, and so on. Not at General; everything is labeled)! I also love the huge paintings on the facility's walls. One of them is from Paradise, Michigan. My first RV experience was in my parent's pop-up camper going to Paradise, Michigan!!! read more

I took my 2022 Entegra Odyssey 26D in for annual maintenance. Drop off process was effortless - Rose my service advisor was available per our scheduled appointment time, and she walked me through the process and explained the time line and costs. Since it was a drop off service, the timeline for completion was not critical, but I expressed some surprise to the 3 - 4 week estimate. But since I did not have plans to use the RV, it didn't matter too much to me. I needed my awning replaced due to tears, and I had purchased a replacement awning and left it in my vehicle. A few days later Rose called and said that the awning didn't match the one they were taking off. I explained that I had purchased color scheme that I found more appealing than the solid black that was installed as OEM. She understood, but just wanted to make sure that I knew that the replacement was different. I assured her everything was as I wanted, and I was certain that the one I purchased was the one I wanted. 6 days after drop off she called to tell me that everything was done. I scheduled a pickup for the next day, and it was ready for me when promised. The RV was clean and everything was done to my satisfaction. read more

If I could give no stars I would. We ordered our Brinkley at the Tampa Super show back in January. We are from New Hampshire and we were encouraged to go to the Ashland store because "they were a more seasoned store than the new Pennsylvania store". Our experience with the Ashland sales team prior to picking up our new RV was horrible - rude, arrogant and extremely difficult to communicate with. We requested a Lithium Ion battery and were told that no one ever requests that. I asked why then do they carry them in their service department. We explained that we hired a certified private inspector and wanted to make sure that the slide toppers we purchased were installed along with the battery prior to inspection. They claimed they wouldn't do that because if we arrived to pick up our new Brinkley and refused the order they would now be on the hook for the entire RV. We signed a purchase and sale agreement at the Tampa show, a significant downpayment was given. We couldn't back out. They moved forward and installed the slide toppers, which two of the three have already become dislodged. See photo below. When our inspector was a week away from inspection they said that he couldn't come on the property. It wasn't that he didn't have the proper qualifications, they said they "just didn't work well with him". Finally they agreed to let our inspector come in and do the inspection. Fast forward to May 15, 2024 when we go to pick up our brand new Brinkley Z3400. General RV highly recommended a Watchdog hard wired surge protector. We agreed and had them wire it in. We spent the night in the General RV parking lot. They hooked us up to 50AMP service. We went to bed at 9:30 and got up at 3am to start our drive to a campground in CT. We arrived in Connecticut seventeen hours later, plugged into shore power and the entire RV filled with horrible smelling gray smoke that flooded the whole interior. Liquid was melting from two of the three TV's. GFI's blew and fried our vacuum cleaner. The Watchdog surge suppressor was miswired and uninspected by the General RV technician. It clearly says RED, WHITE, BLACK. It took five hours for General RV to install that incorrectly. We're now at a campground on a holiday weekend with no power and no home, we're fulltime RV'ing. The items that needed replacement were two of the three TV's, Microwave, Hot Water Heater Board, Converter and the RV smelled like burning rubber. We sat in the rain for three days with our 17 year old dog and no power. General RV asked if we'd be willing to drive back to VA. We said no and they found a local dealer to diagnose and repair our home. The General Manager in Ashland went on vacation. After nine days not hearing from him and staying in a hotel we put a hold on the deposit which was taken on a credit card. We asked that General RV cover our food, lodging and replace our brand new vacuum cleaner. We then released our deposit and it was at that time the General Manager decided that they would no longer reimburse or communicate with us because we had placed a hold on our deposit. Thankfully, Brinkley, even though this wasn't their fault stepped in and is paying for the remaining repairs and reimbursing our expenses. This disaster starts from the top down - General Manager through to horrible sales managers in Ashland. If we buy another Brinkley we'll drive directly to Brinkley. We're still under repair and have not yet camped. Avoid General RV, Ashland at ALL COSTS!!!! read more

They were quickly able to identify the problem with my RV not drawing out water from the holding tank while in dry camping mode. It appears the suction hose keeps collapsing. This is under warranty, but I couldn't leave my RV overnight since we were just driving through. When it's time for me to trade my RV, I'm coming all the way up to Richmond, VA to buy from them. If I could Only find a 0 star General RV of Ashland would deserve it. They quickly took my $300,000 when I purchased my RV less than a year ago and not even 2400 miles. During the winter the Aqua Heat stopped working. Took the RV to them for repair approx 3 months ago. They won't return your calls, no updates and the worst service ever. So I'm out my money and RV. They are refusing to make any aggressive moves to get this fixed. Nor will they take the RV back. I guess I should give Scott 5 stars for saving me the headache. My best friend purchased a used rv from general and they ran his credit twice, once at the dealership and then the bank that they work with, unacceptable. 5,000 in prep fees and shipping and a 298 out of state expedite fee, really? In February we purchased a new 2022 Astoria 3173 RLP from General RV. This is a fifth wheel trailer like we had never owned. Everything was great, until after we signed the papers. it was like no one wanted to help us. Someone was supposed to have helped us hook it up. I waited for 20 minutes to and had to go find someone. During the first trip, the first shower, the shower didn't drain properly. The service department told us we had caused the clog and warranty wouldn't cover it. We had to pay for the repair out of pocket. The manufacturer ,Keystone, was no help either. We have owned and purchased new rv's for 20 years this has been the worst experience ever. Dealership gets 2 stars due to the sales staff being a bit of a bright spot. The rest of the operation, however, is pretty terrible. I am currently still dealing with issues on my purchase and have actually been blocked by one of the employees on messaging. The main issues stem from products they sold and installed, after I told them some of the things I wanted to do with the camper after I purchased it. Since I was coming in from out of state, they pushed pretty hard for me to let them do all of it, prior to pickup. I told them my plans, including sizes and even weights of the TVs I was getting, the truck I was pulling the camper with, etc etc. First, I got them to install a camera system, which does not work correctly due it being a 2021 and up GM, which requires a power adapter they said nothing about. Also on the camera system, newer trucks do not come with a cigarette lighter port and the only way to power the monitor is by using this type of port. Hello, 1985??? The tech who did the install said he had never seen something like this, but somehow knew of an adapter that I could buy on Amazon. This adapter, by the way, did not work as it did not allow enough power to the unit. Next was 2 TV mounts, neither of which work. One needs an adapter, which is mentioned both in the instructions and the company website. The other one does not allow enough vertical space to drop the TV into the mount. A simple math mistake, but still, basic stuff that a tech should know easily. I have spoken, at length, to the dealer about these issues and their only response is to tow the RV back to them. Ummm, I am out state and they told me they did these types of deals all the time. They did tell me they would pay for a camping site if I came up there, but said nothing of what I would camp in, since they would have my camper. Yes, they actually suggested this as a solution. Essentially, the parts and service department are pretty bad and way less experienced than I was led to believe. The dealer is large and very nice looking on the outside and I allowed this to kind of "woo" me in and assume they knew what they are doing. Don't do what I did. I think you are probably ok buying here, just stay away from parts, service and beware of the ALL day delivery. Yes, all day. They want you there to not just go over the RV, but be introduced to every department in the dealer who then proceed to try and sell you everything they can. This is a part you cannot avoid and something I have never seen in any other dealer I have purchased RVs with. Actually, given that, you should just stay away all together. The RV market is very competitive and I am sure you can find as good a deal somewhere else. It's just not worth the time and hassle. Oh ya, one last thing, they tried to blame me for all the issues. They claimed "we only installed what you bought." I laughed out loud on that one. My response was "I only bought what you told me I needed." I bought a 2024 Grand Design Imagine 16 ML the second week of December. It was so new it was ordered from the factory and I had to wait for it. Since then I have had the open door holder snap off the 1st time it was touched, the black water cap also broke the 1st time it was removed, the kitchen drawers are riddled with problems from hardware coming off to drawers not being properly secured to the tracks. Today 1/16/23 I tried to turn my heat on and it doesn't work. We had 4 inches of snow in the last 24 hours and it's 29 degrees. After some time on the phone with the camper assistance phone service we were able to determine the problem was in the furnace and my unit needs to go to the dealer to be repaired. This is infuriating! I spent almost $50,000 on a camper and this is the quality I get? And I didn't buy a crappy camper! Where is the quality control ? Who is checking these units as they come in? Luckily I know how dealers act so I purchased every single warranty and protection available to me. Now the dealer wants to address all the issues and I've already lost confidence in them and the product. Why am I even having to use any coverage? This unit is less than 6 weeks old. The tires still have the nipples on them. I am extremely dissatisfied with the purchase and want to return it. The manager on duty that I spoke to said that is not possible ever under any circumstance. I beg to differ. I would advise them to read the Virginia consumer protection act among a few other laws. I would also encourage them to understand their product is defective and I also was misled about the purchase. I called the corporate number and they were only helpful in telling me disputes are handled on the dealer level. I am stating now that if I am unable to return this unit, I will file suit, this is over $25,000 so we'll be in big boy court not general district court. I will also file a complaint with the state attorney generals office regarding consumer protections and fraud. If everything is "covered" (manufacturer warranty or paid warranty) then you should have no issue taking this unit back, fixing it, and selling it to someone else. I've worked in the automotive industry for 15 years, no car dealership would be allowed to operate like this. We bought a brand new 2023 Tiffin Allegro Open Road 36U on November 30, 2022. I should have known that General RV is a questionable dealership when the finance guy pushed the "magical paint coating" on me, I said "no" and when I showed up to pick the RV up, it was done anyway and $7K added to the invoice. He claimed I said I wanted it. I clearly told him in the phone I did not. He said too late, it's done. I should have walked. Stupid of me. It gets much, much worse. The walk through produced a punch list with half a dozen small items but they couldn't get me back in for 4 months to fix them. Should have walked then as well. Stupid me. Then I get home and within a week, the inverter fails (on a brand new rig!). General RV has no advice. I call Tiffin many, many times and finally find an electrician that walks me through it and confirms, bad inverter. On our first (and still only camping trip (8 months after purchase) the defective Lippert jack legs broke. One snapped off, and the other stuck in the dirt. I spent the weekend trying to fix it as General RV and Tiffin neither offered a morsel of help. I dropped it off on 4/2/23 for the warranty repairs and the two new major problems. That was 3.5 months ago. It's still not repaired. At first, they forgot they had it. Yes, the first idiot service "concierge", Richard, that I had forgot it was there. Then when I called raising hell, he called me back 2 days later to tell me it was ready for pickup. Two days after that, as I was about to do the 5 hour drive to pick it up, he lives a voice mail saying the parts on still on order. Huh? I call Richard, the "concierge", and he didn't remember talking to me 2 days earlier. That was May. Now two months later, I learn that the jacks were not ordered from Lippert until 7/12, more than 14 weeks after the RV was dropped off. The other parts also didn't get ordered for months. This dealer is the worst. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. DO NOT GET YOUR RV SERVICED BY THEM. A clueless company that does not care about their customers. read more

The buying experience was amazing. However, the follow up on the punch list has been a nightmare. Not even the 'Operations Manager' will call you back. The speed of the leader, determines the speed of the pack. With that being said, the Operations Manager has to be a herd of flipped over turtles, which in turn leads to another herd of flipped over turtles in the entire service department. read more

I had my RV in to have all the slide seals inside and out replaced. I requested some service work done as well to the motor and generator. I requested "ALL" the seals for the slides to be replaced as some were showing signs of wear and ripping. I received the quote and re-verified that it included "ALL" the seals. I have the emails to prove all this. The only seals that were replaced where the wiper seals on the inside and outside. The bulb seals for both inside and outside that seal the slide while it is extended and retracted where not replaced as requested. When I went to pick up the RV I noticed that the bulbs seals were not replaced and asked about them. All she could say is that she didn't do the work and pulled up the quote. I asked her to read the quote and she read back exactly what I asked for and then told me that it didn't include the bulbs seals when it clearly stated in the quote ALL seals are to be replaced. Furthermore the motor and generator was not serviced like I had asked either. I didn't find this out until I got home and was washing the coach. I was wiping down the gen compartment, when I noticed the door was still dusty and didn't look disturbed. I took the door off and noticed the dirty oily filter and the oil dip stick looked untouched. Had dust build up on both. I contacted General RV again and told them about it. They said yes it was changed. I brought up my points above and videoed me taking off the oil dip stick and dipping a white paper towel in it and comparing that to ne new bottle of oil which i opened on camera. The oils was almost black in the generator and the oil in the bottle was a olive oil color. Clearly it wasn't changed. I requested a full refund of the service cost and material since it wasn't completed and they refused. PLEASE TAKE YOU UNIT TO A DIFFERENT SERVICE CENTER!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Corporate General RV- This message is for you! Drop what you are doing RIGHT NOW and get your leadership to invest in REAL Quality Control Departments at your manufacturing locations! Consumers are buying your products (same day off the lot) with confidence that we would be in receipt of a SAFE, quality product WITHOUT having to revert back to your service departments to correct QA discrepancies AFTER delivery (and in my case 18 months after delivery). Your service departments at key locations (Tampa & Ashland) are overwhelmed, undermanned and working with a supply ordering system that continuously drops the ball. Since the day of purchase, I have been working off an EXTENSIVE punch list for my 2020 Discovery XLT 44B and I've been running up and down Hwy 95 between the two locations, for 18 months now, just to get Parts ordered and obtain "first available" appointments at ANY of these locations. I have learned that parts ordered for MY RV are always "the wrong part" and my re-order falls into a dark hole. Only due to my recurring bi-weekly check-ins with the service managers, am I updated on parts delivery. It is up to me to go into negotiations on service dates and drop-off availability. Since inception, drop off requirements require that I leave the RV at the servicing garage for up to 3-weeks in a "wait" status. Same day install "is not possible" and Service Department Manager's are unsympathetic on customer care. On a serious note, I have been in contact with Corporate (from my July 20 - present) in trying to obtain assistance on missing parts and follow-up service issues. Am I ever going to rid myself a prisoner involving the bureaucracy of this company? I WOULD NOT recommend purchasing from a company that leaves you with a set of keys to a $350K luxury bus that is manufactured and released off the line without being stamped as 100% Safe and Reliable by the General RV Manufacturing Quality Assurance Department just to land a sale. The service Departments are the crux of this organization and obviously General RV Corporate, you are clearly asleep at the wheel. Please take this review as a viable complaint and advanced warming to the downfall of General RV within the RV owner community. We are thousands strong and the consensus is mutual - we will not be repeat customers for this fact alone. We purchased a new Entegra Class-C RV from this location at the end of July. Our salesman, Paul, was pleasant and knowledgeable. Honestly, based on the reviews i had read online, i was skeptical but overall we found the process to be very satisfactory. The staff was courteous and professional. Blake in finance was straight-forward and not pushy. Before we took delivery of the RV, they addressed a few minor punch-list items. We verified all systems, components, etc. worked properly. The vehicle was detailed and everything worked without issue. The vehicle had a full tank of gas and full propane. The pre-sale inspection and closing process took about 3 hours in total. The only issue we had during the entire process was the charging of a significant amount of money on our credit card as a security deposit without us being advised in advance of the amount. Once advised of this, we had the amount adjusted which they accommodated without argument. We would purchase from General RV in Ashland again. read more

picked up our new rv today and am very happy with the service and rv. everyone there was great, helpful and friendly. BUT when we decided to purchase the rv I asked 2 different people to fix some issues I had with glue on the walls, black streaks across the ceiling and glue where they filled the staple holes. I was told twice they would be taken care of. we got home and NOTHING was taken care of. very disappointed with them. I guess they don't care once it's sold. make sure you get everything done before you give them money because after nothing gets done. read more

Recently purchased a TT from the Ashland location... Matt our sales person and Chris Bonniwell were wonderful to work with. When we arrived for our VIP day... we were greeted by Sheena (spelling) as our original walk through specialist went home sick..... this is where things went south.... She was unprofessional, rolled her eyes at me, did not know where everything was in our camper, and rushed us through the inspection. I was disgusted at this so called VIP treatment, her trainee that joined us was more professional and knowledgeable than she was! The mechanic who assisted us did not torque to specs and came loose during our travel home from dealer!!! I highly recommend they figure out how to do a better job upon delivery day. On Jan 13, 2023 I purchased a 2022 Coachmen RV from General. What a horrible experience it was. First, I responded to an as for a 2022 unit at $29k, checked it out and decided to work on an offer. Here it was: base price - $29,900 - then they added $2999 for transportation or something, then another $2499 for unit prep, then $599 for dealer processing fee, plus tax title stuff. That's pure BS and bait and switch if I ever saw it. I reduced that to $2000, but they were not honest - AT ALL. $6000+ additional fees before tax etc. but I bought it for $31,999. My bad but it only got worse. During walkthru there were two major issues that needed to be fixed. Remember the $2499 they tried to charge for dealer prep? We'll they didn't find these two glaring things. Two months later, it was still not fixed. During that time I endlessly called, texted (chat), emailed customer service, etc. and could not get anyone to tell me the status of the unit. They kept calling and trying to say we're ready to deliver it, only to find repairs we're forgotten. Contacted service, sales, customer service and none would return calls follow up, or help me out. Finally, after 2 months, I contacted an attorney, and that call from him woke them up a little. But only a little. It gets worse. So I did another walkthrough, and two items are finally fixed. Arranged a delivery date and specific time. I don't live where it was to be delivered, so time of day was important. Delivery was supposed to include setup, leveling, proper location, cause I don't have a truck to do these things. Delivery person - some local yokel - arrives 2 hours early and so I'm not there to work with him. He gets impatient and dumps it crooked in our front yard. So much for locating and leveling. Not done yet. So that was past, and I noticed the unit was missing parts to sewer line. Called them, never heard back. Overall integrity is very low. Sell you high, pocket the dough, and run. Post sale service is nonexistent. They push overpriced maintenance contracts with sob stories of financial ruin. Go find an honest dealer. Get them to name a price and stick with it. You don't need to pay ridiculous unadvertised fees. Just say no and then walk away if they do. Consider post sales service. This place is 'largest family owned rv dealer.' Family is not always good, and this company proves it. read more
