Kitchen of the Cottage
Christy M.

We had a great time. We rented a cottage, expecting a cabin. We were pleasantly surprised. It did have a fully equipped kitchen so that was nice. The cottages were off on a secluded road with a play ground and trails, so that was nice. We drove to the near by main state park area to pet the animals and feed them. (You get the food from the main store up front, and you rent the boats from up there) We did some fishing and pedal boating. There is no pool, like a lot of signs say, I believe those are all outdated and it's now an archery area. Only thing I would say is the couches aren't that comfy, guess they don't expect you to hang out in the living rooms for to long. The beds were nice. And there were 4 Rockers on the screened in back porches. All in all, great trip.

What a lovely find down South Ga! We stopped here randomly and had such a great time. Took the guided tour and got to feed the animals, learn history and see property from the inside. Highly recommend this park for any history, nature enthusiasts.

We loved this state park! It offers multiple walking trails AND had a great farm in the front! I think the farm makes it a unique state park to visit, especially with kids. Can't wait to come back!

Great little campground at the Okefenokee Swamp! We are camping here for 3 nights in a 30' Class A…read more The campground sites offer water, electric and a dump station. Each site is level and gravel. There is not any privacy between sites but they are not stacked on top of each other either. There is a fire pit, a picnic table, a grill and a lantern hook at each site. There are only 3 campsites on Lake Laura Walker but all of the other campsites have a view of it. There is one bathhouse for the campground and I did not go in it so I don't know how clean it is. The rest of the park is well maintained so I imagine the bathhouse would be too. The park offers a visitor center with a gift shop and ice cream and boiled peanuts for sale. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The park is about 20 mins from Waycross should you need to shop or grab a bite to eat. There are two playgrounds, a fitness area, many pavilions and picnic areas. There is also an area for Sunday Church service which starts at 9:30 am. They also offer cabins and cottages for rent and there are separate campgrounds for pioneer and group camping. They have a VERY large dog park! One side for small dogs and the other for large dogs. Each side offers a bench and a watering station. This dog park added an extra star to my overall rating! We enjoyed our stay here and were happy to find out we were only about 8 miles from the Okefenokee Swamp Park which is also highly recommended!

Great little spot. Tons of space to have a picnic. Looks to be a hot spot during the summer…read more There's a volleyball net, restrooms & trash cans placed throughout. Even little grills To cook out. We came after it poured down. Not the most ideal LoL it made for a mosquito haven. We went on the short nature trail but water had flooded a lot of the areas to look down at the water. Park ranger on duty at all times during business hours. Glad we came.

There were already a good amount of people and the parking lot was almost full, but there was still plenty of space for people in the springs. There isn't a lot of space to put your belongings as there aren't really any large open spaces, but people pretty much just put their stuff where they can. You can either enter the springs via some stairs that take you right to the deep portion, or you can walk around the springs and enter at a shallower section. If you do go in at the shallower section, be aware that there's quite a strong current that can be difficult to fight against to get into the deep area. I would also recommend chacos or sandals of some kind as there are a lot of rocks in the shallower end that can be very slippery. The water is VERY cold, so be prepared for that, but know that it will also feel amazing afterward and soak any body aches/pains away. The springs are one of the most beautiful swimming areas I've seen--so much beautiful nature surrounding it. If I could go there WITHOUT the loud crowds of people, it would be the most absolutely perfect spot to relax and spend a day. Even with that it was fantastic and I would 100% return.

These waters make you wonder whether some prehistoric creature will launch out of the waters at you if you get too close. Yet, you'll see kayakers padding all about these waters. Located in Twin City, Georgia, is a serene retreat spanning 1,634 acres with a 412-acre mill pond surrounded by cypress and tupelo trees draped in Spanish moss, creating a picturesque and tranquil environment. The park's centerpiece is the historic Parrish Mill, a combination gristmill, sawmill, covered bridge, and dam built in 1880. The mill, restored in 1998, occasionally operates and can grind up to 200 pounds of corn per hour, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich history. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of activities, including fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and hiking. The park offers 11 miles of trails for hikers, runners, and cyclists, as well as opportunities to spot wildlife like gopher tortoises, blue herons, and white ibis. For accommodations, the park provides lakeside camping, cozy cottages, picnic shelters, and a conference center.
