sign for ice cream and candies

Homemade ice cream served up with a smile. Some of the flavors are seasonal. I tried the peach and it was very good. Plenty of parking. Everybody loves this place. Its a little awkward to head back North again, but you will figire it out.

Seriously, when you walk in you're in heaven. It maybe small, but there are many chocolates to choose from. It was hard for me to choose, so I ended up getting the small truffle sampler. When I tried the first bite, one word to describe it is amazing ! The chocolate just melts in your mouth. Staff was extra friendly. The outside of the building looks like a gingerbread house. Oh how much i want to go back. Just the name draws you in.... So mmmm good!

I've driven past this little candy shop in the Perryopolis section of Route 51 a billion times, and heard from family in the area that the candy is wonderful, but always seem to be in a rush to or from somewhere and never stop in. On this particular weekend, I had a low-key day in front of me (and absolutely no need for chocolate after a Christmas filled with it, but decided not to let that stop me). I was dying to see if this adorable shop was as cute as it looks from the outside, and I am happy to report that not only is it the most charming little candy shop, filled to the brim with every kind of chocolate you could ever want as well as lots of classic, nostalgic types of candies, but the chocolate is up there in Sarris's league, and I don't say that lightly. On top of that, they have an attached ice cream shop with wonderful hard ice cream where you can get a sundae, milkshake or a pint to take home. They also have Nathan's hot dogs available for a dollar, as well as chips and sodas. You can get your candy pre-packaged in purple boxes that would make for a beautiful gift presentation, or have them measure out the amount you want from their case. I did a mixture of both of these, and the staff was super helpful. I can't believe I have just driven past this wonderful candy and ice cream for all of these years, and I am looking forward to stopping by again!

I have went most of my life hearing about gene and boots candy, but never actually visited until a few months ago. The building itself is small but quaint. The Gene & Boots sign with big ice cream cones can be seen from a distance from both directions of route 51, drawing intrigue from travelers. Just from looking at the outside you know you are going to feel like a kid in a candy store, no matter your age. To add to the atmosphere, you will find a little gingerbread bread house attached to the store. Once inside the long narrow shop you will notice the overpowering scent of sugar. That's because they have abundance of everything chocolate and sweet from the basic chocolate covered pretzels to foot long gummy snakes. If you continue into the gingerbread house, you will find a small ice cream shop. They make cones, sundaes and milkshakes at reasonable prices. As well as hot dogs for 1$ and some unique bottled sodas. Overall it's worth a stop by. I promise you there is something in store for everyone!

It's a institution that has been around longer then I have, with regular customers who have patronized the place since its inception. The old building once was a carpet store, and a couple bought it and turned what its now Candyland and Farmer's Market. The store is a wonder being split down the middle, one side is devoted to fresh fruits and vegetables, while the other is candy (in monstrous amounts) devided up to be sold by the mixed bag pound, and there are about 100 different other candies besides, so if you can't find it, it may not exist. The are cheeses that are some of the best I have ever had and great prices for block cheese. The people who work there are as awesome as the place is itself. Ask them about anything in store they will pretty much know it inside and out. If not, they will go out of their way to help you. Come here, pure and simple. It's a great place where people from all over world have come and shopped here. I couldn't believe in the time I had worked there, that people no matter the race or religion could bond over candy. Michael Phelps even shopped here and as well as the PR guy for the Ravens all in one summer. You won't regret spending money here and even though I now work somewhere else I come here often, to get a taste of home.

The other half is a small grocery store with the basics including some produce, but not a whole lot of selection. It's adequate. There are two registers. The cashier was efficient but not too friendly. Worth stopping in at least to check it out.

I was looking for bulk candy and needed some specific types of candy. Before going to the actual location I went to the website beforehand and could browse what they have. Their physical location of this store sits in a small plaza below a car dealership along Route 30. Getting here is kind of easy depending on the direction on 30 you are coming. Eastbound, easy, pull onto the road. Westbound, may god have mercy on your soul, try crossing two lanes of downhill traffic while uphill traffic behind you is just zips by or backs up. When you exit, just don't go that way, go the opposite way as it will take you where you need to be and it is much easier on your stress for the day. I don't want to state the obvious here, but you become a kid in a candy shop when you enter. The front of the store is your basic candy store with items that are singular in nature and runs the gambit. Candies that you forgot about will show their faces. Then you move towards the back of the store and enter the holy grail of bulk candy. It is rather well organized and you can find what you want quite easily. If you cannot find what you are looking for, just ask the employee back here and they know exactly where it is. I was looking for something and it was literally right in front of my face, but I kept overlooking it. I spent a lot of money here, but it was bulk candy and for an event, it was well spent money. Definitely will be my spot to go for bulk candy for work.
