Sent another email, was told that they would have the store follow up. No response. I don't want to speak with the store any further. I wanted a resolution from Levin's corporation. They failed miserably and I will never use my new credit card that does nothing but infuriate me over the wasted credit.

They were purchased by Kellman Bottles, and their remaining stock is currently being liquidated. I was thrilled to have an opportunity to purchase one of the last items they manufactured, a small hobnail cake plate in ice blue. I placed my order online, and paid through PayPal. I received a confirmation from PayPal, but nothing from Smith Glass. I sent an email to the address on the PayPal transaction to confirm that they'd received my order, but it came back as undeliverable. I went back to their website and left two emails, several days apart. No response. I called the phone numbers on the website. They'd been disconnected. Two weeks after placing the order, I reluctantly asked PayPal to investigate and possibly reverse my payment. ONE MONTH after I placed the order, I received an email from a woman I'd never heard of, which simply said that my order would ship on Monday. No explanation, no apology, no grammer, no capitalization, no punctuation... I emailed back asking her to explain the delay. A week later I received a brief reply, telling me that her father was ill, and that was all she cared about, so if I had a problem, I could refuse the cake plate. I could explain all the emails back and forth, but to summarize, this woman was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional, and I rather doubt the company realizes how she's dealing with their customers. She actually told me that she had arranged for the plate to be delivered "out of the goodness of her heart." I assume she was being paid for her services, and I paid $54 for the cake plate, so??? In any case, beware if you decide to purchase an item from the remaining LE Smith Glass stock. It took me more than 7 WEEKS to get my cake plate. What a shame that such a wonderful, 100 year-old company should come to an end this way! :(

Their chocolates are very good, if not the most creative you will find. They know their market and play to it consistently. Forrest Gump could have been sitting at the bus stop in the middle of town near the monument and he would have felt right at home. It was a funny moment. The old fashioned sampler is still sitting on the kitchen table. Every day I open it and take one piece to taste, and my son takes another. The milk chocolates are better than Hershey, Nestle and Cadbury, but not at the level of Lindt, nor Valrhona, or other Euro creamies. The fillings are nice, but not particularly memorable. It is certainly worth a visit if you are in the area and love chocolate that is local and made in fairly small batches. The walk through the shop is entertaining, and the Browns people are pleasant and willing to tell you their history. Too, anything we can do to keep small town America in business is worthwhile.
