Romanelli's has made the biggest difference in my son's life! My son was diagnosed with Aspergers…read morebefore he was 3 and in the first few years of his life he was completely non-verbal. Eventually, with early intervention and lots of behavioural therapy he began thriving. But still, once he was mainstreamed in school and was academically caught up to his peers, we struggled to find something for him to partake in that he not only enjoyed but made him feel like he wasn't different and helped him engage with his peers socially. We tried team sports, boy scouts, and community events but nothing was working. Then we found Romanelli's. From the get go, you could tell this was different. The people here really care about their students, what your goals for them are and their needs. They not only teach physical form, but social skills and life skills. My son has been at Romanelli's less than a year, and already he has benefited more from his time with them than he did in 4 years of behavioural therapy. He engages with others now, he looks us in the eye when he talks, and he communicates his emotions with us. It has given him a moral code as well that he strives to stick to in everything he does. Best of all, he has made friends! He even started at a brand new school about 6 months after starting here and his teacher has said that if I hadn't told her he was on the spectrum, she would have never known. I know I owe so much of that to all of the amazing teachers here. On top of that, because of the relationship he formed with his teachers and peers, he has found something he is truly passionate about. He now loves karate and practices daily and it has taught him to set goals for himself that he truly works to achieve in every aspect of his life. This is no ordinary dojo... I have been through a little bit of karate at a couple other places with my older son as well as so many other sports and organizations with all 3 of my children. The relationship that Romanelli's builds with ALL of their students AND their families is a truly rare thing to find! If your child is interested in martial arts, or even if you are, you will not find a better place than this!

The instructors Miss Ronni and Mr. Aaron are great people, and they have a strong focus on developing young people. It's amazing the way Master Kaz is able to control an entire class, while teaching different groups at their level. Master Kaz is stern, but is stern with kindness, and as a result, my child has confidence and demonstrates self-control. Family Karate Academy is a serious training academy, with Tae Kwon Do instruction, and you can expect your child to learn quickly and grow in technique, confidence and discipline. Master Kaz trains the students to be healthy, focused, and respectful. His instruction includes warm-up. Master Kaz also teaches stranger-danger, bully prevention, and has family events. There is plenty of room at the academy, including changing rooms and observation space. Lots of parking as well, and located conveniently at the SW corner of 15 Mile & Mound, in Sterling Heights. Master Kaz is a Master, google him! This is a great place for your child to learn karate. Training is recommends 2/week, and payment is easy, whether you choose to pay monthly or longer. CC accepted. Master Kaz will treat you and your child like family!

Master Tong and all of his assistants are fully following safety issues with sanitizing equipment and asking students to sanitize. I feel totally comfortable bringing my grandson here. Not really thinking this was a long term commitment I could not be happier. I stumbled upon this studio years ago through Google. I took a chance and called to make an appointment with an instructor to see what was offered and what my options were. As there are several options for you and/or your child I thought best to start personal one on one classes and I could not be happier with my choice. Not only has my child stuck with the lessons (personal) for years she has a great bond with her instructor; Aaron. He has been absolutely amazing with her! Not only does she have a higher self esteem she now stands up for herself and no longer takes "garbage" from class mates! The building it's - self is not your typical karate studio, it's very "rugged". Remember you are not there to enter a fashion show! It's exactly what I had wanted for her! Focus on what your lesson is vs. what belt or uniform you will be wearing. As you do have the option though, comfy clothes are best. As for the price you will not be able to beat the offers here. Not only is my daughter attending classes my husband also started attending ( you probably spend more in fast food a week than you will here ).. On a side note, let me say that my husband works out at a regular gym 5-6 days a week few hours a day and never comes homes as hyped up and sweaty as he does going to Tracy's for a half hour once a week. He will be the first to say WARNING: Aaron will kick your butt!! No mercy for the weak (haha). You learn a lot in a short period of time and the instructor will not continue on until he feels you are secure with what was taught and you are doing the moves correctly with no hesitation. We hope to continue lessons for years to come; Thank you Tracy's Kenpo Studio for all your hard work in changing my child for the better!! I could not have done it without you; Aaron especially.

Mark & Aaron do a wonderful job leading & teaching & the other instructors are great as well. Our kids (ages 5. 7, & 9) go to the group classes & have learned so much. It has made them more confident and they get a workout every time. My husband and I also take lessons & have learned so much. It never ceases to amaze me how knowledgable the staff is & how willing they are to teach anyone who asks. They train MMA fighters, cops, & regular people off the street like you and me. The icing on the cake is they have really great rates and plans to fit different budgets. I highly recommend this place.

They are upfront with what they expect from you and are a constant helping hand in taking you to places you never thought you could reach in your training. In an effort to pay it forward, I decided to start by reviewing a place I feel people need to know about. The dojo in Clawson MI is a place you must check out. The instructors there (Sensei Rob and Sensei Laura) are top notch and have all the traits you could possible seek (highly skilled, passionate, knowledgeable, patient, and just really good people). I've known them for the better part of the last 15 years and can honestly say few people have made more of a positive impact on my life than they have. Aside from the great instruction, the fellow students there are truly a joy to train with. It's humbling when you see them show as great of an interest in your development as they do with there own. You find yourself growing/developing within the group and new friendships are one of the many results. I feel very fortunate that I have gained some great friends over the years through training. You should expect the same. In addition to getting some good exercise and learning/developing self defense techniques, I personally find this place a great mental refuge and a way to get away for 90 minutes from the daily grind. When you train you don't think of that project at work, class you might have a test in, lawn in need of being mowed or your cable/phone bill....you just think about the training. You may, like me, find this to become almost essential to a healthy life. So you've read this far, isn't it about time you just go up there and try a class out for yourself? One of the first things Sensei Rob ever said to me was that the hardest part of training is walking through the door. Once you are there it is easy. While I wasn't sure about that comment at the time, I found it to be very true (in other things as well). Some of you may have driven by the dojo already....contemplated coming in. My hope is that this review will give you the motivation/desire to take that toughest step and walk through the door to give this place a try. I am sure you will thank me later!
