I just bought a car from Dave Rohe tonight (October 26, 2015). My first visit to Gem Mazda was on September 9th. I've made three trips to the lot. Once was literally just to try fitting carseats into several vehicles. I've also called three times and wrote two emails. Dave and the team knew for a fact that I wasn't going to buy anything until today at the earliest. Despite all of that, he never once tried to pressure me to buy a car while I was there. I hate car dealerships. I get extremely anxious just thinking about negotiating and being pressured. Dave knew that from the first time he saw me. I'm a meticulous person. I analyze things. I do my homework. I take six weeks to buy a car, and I'm certainly going to know the car inside and out before I sign anything. Luckily for me, Dave knows his stuff. He explained the entire history of Mazda during (one of a couple of) test drives. He told me all about how Mazda engineered their way into the upper echelon of consumer sedans. He pointed out how all the top car reviewers are putting Mazdas on their year-end lists, and told me where to verify his claims (you'd better believe I did). When I finally decided to pull the trigger, Dave was willing to stay 2 hours late to complete the sale...since I still had about a million questions. He never once looked exasperated or put out by my interrogation. He's done this before. I'm not the worst. I'm not even close to the worst. He gave examples to prove that I wasn't the worst. Before I came to Gem Mazda, I knew literally nothing about Mazdas. By the time Dave finished walking me through the process, I felt comfortable enough to recommend both the car and the dealership, and I've owned my Mazda3 for approximately 3 hours now. Go buy your next car from Dave at Gem Mazda. This has been the best car-buying experience I've ever had by a mile, and this is the 7th car-buying experience in my lifetime. He won't BS you. He won't try to pressure you. He won't accidentally lie to you due to something he doesn't know or conveniently forgot. This is the real deal. Two years ago, I was introduced Dave Rohe at Gem Mazda and he converted me from a Honda guy to a Mazda enthusiast when I bought my first car from him just after I moved to Tallahassee. My first purchase from Gem Mazda, I purchased a great pre-owned 2009 Mazda 6. I fell in love with this car and the way it drove. Went to Gem Mazda due to the fact that it was the only dealership within my driving distance parameters that went the distance in finding a new miata with a manual transmission that I would be allowed to test drive. I was contacted by David Rohe. I found him to be very knowledgeable, polite and understood that driving from Georgia my time was valuable. This mantra was echoed by all the staff at Gem. I picked up my new car yesterday and am, so far, very pleased. I am expecting the enjoyment I had with my old MG but without the mechanical problems and the lake of oil on my garage floor. If there was one downside in the experience it was not with Gem Mazda or the staff. I had placed my name on a notification list at Mazda for the Miata but was not notified that there was a early purchase program for the launch edition. This dealership can be summed up with one word: AMAZING! The staff was extremely patient with me (as a first time Mazda buyer) and provided accurate information and expertise. The dealers are not just "car salesmen" as they treat your money almost as if it is their own and are not just focused on "making a sale". Full disclosure is always provided & the staff is honest. Several family members have switched from Toyota to Mazda over the last 5 years. They all love their cars. So, my wife and I considered checking out a Mazda for the first time. Recently purchased a Mazda CX-9 from GEM Mazda of Tallahassee. The purchase was one of the easiest transactions I've ever done. Everyone at GEM Mazda was very professional, especially salesman Nick Cessna! I drove a CX-5 and liked it, but thought I would rather have a larger vehicle, so Mr. Cessna suggested a CX-9, but I was sceptical about the power of a 4 cylinder engine. We have been Gem Mazda customers since 2013 and use their service department for all our oil changes/routine maintenance. They are always courteous and complete the service within the hour and don't try to sell extra services. I 'hate' the car buying experience....you go to a dealership to look and are practically tackled by a salesman before you get out of your car.
