Having dealt with Geis several times over the years, when one of my garage door openers got goofy I didn't hesitate to call them again. I was expecting to have to replace that unit. Their tech looked at the model number, said, "Yep! This one is 20 years old, but here's your problem." He had it fixed in a shake of a dog's tail, and went on to explain a few more things, while answering all of my annoying questions. He was quite friendly, very professional, and extremely helpful. I ultimately decided to keep the now working opener right where it was, feeling completely free to make up my mind. No pressure one way or the other. Saved a bunch of bucks! Everything with Geis started out great. I Called Geis to have a garage door service provided. They promptly showed up, diagnosed, and provided a quote for an old garage door at my family business. The price was fair, the repair was approved. Thats when everything went down hill. After installing the new garage door, I was informed they could not complete the installation due to needing an electrician. Not once during the inspection, quote or install that there was an issue with the electrical. Once I was informed of the electrical issues, the office insisted I needed to reach out to their technician to get information, since he never mentioned to the office that there was issues. After hiring an electrician to extend the electrical whip and wires 6 inches, and $750 later, and two weeks of coordination, they finally came back to finish the install. Literally the next day the door isn't working and had to call them back. After they didn't arrive for two days after they scheduled when they'd be there they showed up. Fast forward two weeks later and I was sent a bill for $650 to fix what their brand new install was supposed to resolve. There was no mention from their technicians that there were further issues, any "maintenance" needed. They claimed after the new install that maintenance was needed, now I'm second guessing the $4,600 I spent on the new opener was even necessary, let alone this additional $650 charge for two people to inspect and maintain after. read more

Will not use geis again . They didn't install new spring properly told us not to use door because they need to tighten cable more . They will be first coming back in 3 days . Never used geis in the past thought I would use them because of radio ads , will not use them again and we own commercial properties that in total have 46 12x12 doors .use any other company , I'm going back to consolidated overhead door read more

After our oops in January, our torsion spring on our garage door ended up breaking so we decided to just get a whole new door and operating system. We also have the App service to close our garage door from anywhere when we forget. Kurt was right on time, worked fast and even cleaned up after himself. He was very nice and didn't mind me peeking my head out to see what he was doing. I think our whole setup took him less than 2.5 hours, we were impressed! The door is super quiet too!! He gave me privacy to set the pin # and when I asked to pay with credit card, he had me call the office to settle the payment instead of carrying around the numbers which really impressed me. Geis was one of the most reasonable priced door/service companies in the area. Most companies quoted us almost double what they wanted. I didn't think it was possible to be impressed by an overhead door company but boy was I wrong. Saturday my overhead door's spring broke. I called Geis at about noon and was told the emergency call would be $390 just to send someone out. I said it would wait until Monday.The woman tried to talk me thru getting the overhead door open but being handicapped I couldn't do it. A few hours later she pulled into my driveway. She opened my garage door so that I could get my car out!!! She was not a technician or anything she worked in the office. Today the tech came out to fix the overhead. As far as I am concerned that far above good customer service!!!! This was GREAT customer service and the cost for them to replace the springs was very reasonable¡!! read more

Customer service lacking... History: 2008 purchased newly constructed condo with GEIS installed garage door... 2013 garage door was warping and I paid GEIS to install a "premium" door (clad on the inside) which I was told would provide more structural integrity than the original (cheaper) install... September 2018 service tech comes out to evaluate door warping again. Tech said that this was a severe problem and would most likely be covered. He took necessary information for submission... Mid September - Early December, I made periodic contacts to GEIS for updates. I was told that the door company manufacturer had the claim information and that they were waiting for approval/disapproval.... December 3, 2018 I contacted Service Manager Sam D. for update. This is the first time I had ever spoken to Sam D. He stated that according to my file there was NO RECORD OF MY CLAIM EVER BEING SUBMITTED. This is after being told at least 4 other times by other GEIS staff members that processing is being held up by the door manufacturer. Sam D. stated that processing should not take this long... December 6, 2018 Sam sent another tech out for re-evaluation. He noted warping and rusting. Tech left and said he would give information to Sam... January 3, 2019 I called Service Manager Sam for an update since I had not heard anything over the past month. He told me to contact the door manufacturer directly since the "customer" sometimes has better luck expediting the claim process. He stated that they usually don't cover rust. I told him my complaint centers around WARPING not RUSTING. I asked for the claim #... none provided. He told me to reference the serial # on the side of the door. The new door was supposed to be installed today. I called Geis this morning to see what time they were coming. It's never easy to prepare for these things with the dog not to mention my husband took off work to make sure the framing was done for today. Geis' response, "Oh, we're sorry. Left a message yesterday. We sold your door to one of our subs. We should be getting more in on Monday." If you are in the Milwaukee area, don't call Geis. May be time to look elsewhere. I just find that horrible. They don't deliver as promised yet they will expect to get paid right away. read more

******AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!****** If I could give less than one stars I would. We bought a new door and had it installed last January by Geis. Being highly recommended, I was anticipating great customer service, but was I wrong. Two weeks ago, our door stopped operating (of course the warranty was 10 days lapsed and Geis was unable to send emergency service). After much effort trying to manually close the door and not feeling comfortable leaving the door open for 48 hours (earliest Geis could come out), we had to call out A1 Service. After inspection, Geis installed the control arm (J-bar) incorrectly on our door which caused the motor burn out because it had to work twice as hard to open/close the door and the arm itself to start to cut into the frame of the door. After having A1 physically show us what Geis had installed wrong, we reached out to DJ (one of the owners of Geis). After a few days of calling and being diverted to voicemail, we still got no answer. All we were looking for was to be made whole for the incorrect installation which caused our brand new motor to burn out, but that just wasn't going to happen with Geis. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH, ALL THEY SEEMED TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT WAS MAKING A DISHONEST DOLLAR. read more

We had Geis install a new garage door last summer. Very happy with the quietness with our new door. Speed ahead to this summer I noticed the door was not as quiet. Called for them to come and check the door. I was surprised they charged me $95 for service charge. Ok, it was 10 days ago I called again to say I didn't feel the door was right since it still wasn't as quiet as first installed. I asked I would not be charged the $99 if they came out to check. I am very happy with the service. He came within the window specified and called ahead so I could meet him there. For the standard service fee he fixed the door that wouldn't close because of bent track and adjusted the spring of the second door I added at the last minute. He tested it well to be sure everything worked. My only complaint is the smell of the lube he used on the doors (I admit I am sensitive). read more

Called yesterday because the door opener suddenly stopped working, only made a clicking noise. Excellent garage door repair service. Our home is older, as is the garage door. Called another local company and got a runaround about how they couldn't repair my older electric roll up door because it was too old. They did however refer me to Geis! The tech from Geis came exactly when promised, fixed my "old" door, was done in 25 minutes and only charged me $90.00 for the service call! No pressure to get a new door, etc. Wonderful staff at the office and a great repair person. Call them first and save yourself lots of headaches. read more

The story of being a loyal customer of this company and the last experience with their scheduler Bob is too long to relay again (see Angie's list for all the details) but I cannot recommend them ever again! Prior to a week ago I had told anyone asking about garage door or garage door opener work or replacement, Geis was the vendor to use. NOT ANYMORE! Pretty much their scheduler Bob called me a liar, told me I had not made an appointment and repeatedly told me how expensive the work was to be done and that it was a really long process. No concern for customer service, rapport or reputation! Being an HR professional who has a Master's in Organizational Communication and having owned a small business with my husband, this guy takes the cake in worst customer service in the 7 states we have lived in! I am not just angry, I want you to not experience the hassle of dealing with this company and then still have to start all over with another vendor, turning a 2 day process into a 2 week endeavor!
