I went into this fine establishment today because I couldn't get my laptop to come on. They asked me if I store my laptop in a carrying bag without shutting down the computer first. Of course, I said yes, because I didn't think it through to see that this could be very problematic for me. Anyway, I thought for sure it would be very expensive, being that it was sort of an emergency. I .am a graduate student taking on-line courses and I have a 2500-word research paper due weekly at 11:59 p.m. Arizona time, which is 1:59 a.m. here to be exact. For Computer Repair's call mom hard drives and every other little or big thing you need GARY is your guy. Great service coma super friendly and it is a business that has been around for 30 years that we need to continue to support. I went to Best Buy in Fayetteville and they didn't have it so I asked them to call Rogers Best Buy and they told me they had it and when I got to Rogers they didn't have it. That's when I call my Technology brother and they hooked me up with GCM Computers. Monday through Friday, 8 to 5. Ask for Garry. Great know-how but unfriendly manner. I've been a customer for many years and while I have no complaints about the techies, who are very competent, the front desk person seems to go out of their way to make you feel as though you are beneath them. You feel as if you are imposing on her time when you have a question. She answers in an annoyed, sort of bullying tone, as if to make the person on the receiving end feel dumb. (Maybe it is my lack of Fayetteville insider-ness or social capital?). Last time, I needed an itemized receipt for work and tax purposes that would have to be customized, and she said "this will take up two hours of my time" (plus, I can't imagine it would actually have taken 2 hours). She refused to do it and I had to make do with whatever the system had auto-generated. And I thought, "gee I'm a long-time customer, but I guess I'm not worth their time?" I almost wrote them a letter that time. After my last interaction, I've reached the point where I'm just not ready to face that kind of treatment whenever I need my computer repaired and end up feeling irked by this sense of having been browbeaten or talked down to. So I was actually online today to look for a friendlier computer repair place in my town and not to write a review, but I just now decided that, you know what, GCM needs to know that this demeanor is putting customers off. read more
