As someone who's very organized, I wasn't sure that I needed to hire a full-service wedding planner for my wedding in Valle de Guadalupe. I thought hiring someone for day-of or month-of planning would be good enough, but even after creating endless spreadsheets and conducting my own research for venues and vendors in the area, I came up short. Enter, Grecia! Grecia went above and beyond to make my husband Derrick's and my dream wedding come true. From our initial meeting--where I came fully prepared with a moldboard and presentation--Grecia knew just the right way to work with me to assuage any stresses or fears Derrick and I had. She listened to what I envisioned and offered suggestions that made it even better. She's also well-connected to existing vendors in the Valle (floral, photography, DJ, beauty, rentals, videography etc.), and as such, we found and hired the right team for our special day in no time. She ensured we stayed on budget by negotiating with our vendors and always being our advocate. Communication could be tricky with vendors in VDG--I didn't speak English and vendors didn't always respond to follow-ups. But Grecia had the magic touch! It helped that she lived within driving distance to the Valle. And of course, she kept all our contracts and payment due dates in a tidy ledger & followed up with this to make sure we never missed a deadline. Even though she wasn't contractually obligated to help us with our welcome dinner, she did initial reach-outs to restaurants when we had difficulty contacting them. On the day of, everything ran as smooth as it could have. The wedding venue looked STUNNING. I DIY-ed a bunch of different items (macrame, signs, favors, other decorations etc.), and I was so pleased with how Grecia put everything together. My husband and I felt incredibly supported by Grecia throughout the day and could not have asked for more. If you're looking for a wedding planner (especially if it's in VDG!), look no further. She was the best at communicating with vendors, consolidating our vision and incorporating our nontraditional ideas - but she truly outdid herself during our wedding weekend. To start, her walkthrough and direction of the rehearsal addressed all of our concerns. Even my married bridesmaid commented on how well and detailed she conducted the rehearsal, and how she wished she had that level of detail at her wedding! Grecia was a referral from my brother in law. We met up at Holden Coffee and knew it was an instant connection: she had a keen eye and listened to what we loved in our lives and bonded that with our vision for our destination wedding in Tulum. My husband (!!!!) and I recently got married in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico and we had a pretty long engagement (about 18 months). I am born and raised in San Diego and my husband is from Ecuador; Mexico had been a really special place for the both of us during our 5 years of dating pre-wedding and we also wanted to have our wedding in a place that didn't feel like we were favoring one side of our family over the other. We knew we wanted to get married in spring, that our wedding would have about 120 guests, and first thought we could handle finding a venue in Mexico and some of the other details by ourselves... we were so wrong! After many unanswered emails and phone calls from venues, I realized that I was going to need help. A dear friend of mine introduced me to Grecia and from our first meeting, I instantly felt both excited and reassured that things were going to start looking up. Grecia reassured me (in English) and my partner (in Spanish) that she was full of great ideas, diverse contacts, and had plenty of experience to make our day everything we were envisioning. Knowing that she was bilingual and could understand some of the cultural nuances that would be important to be sensitive to within our wedding planning was a huge plus! I have to say that I probably was not the easiest client for Grecia. I am super detail oriented, love spending time in the details of things, and really read over a contract thoroughly. I ask hard questions and push back on things that don't feel right or suit me. Grecia didn't seem deterred by this and really wanted me / us to be happy. During the wedding planning process (about 12 months in total), we hit quite a few bumps with vendors (unexpected extra costs, unprofessionalism and disorganization). During these tricky moments, Grecia never let us see her sweat and she did her best to let us make the decisions about how to deal with some of these bumps. Sometimes afterwards she would tell us, "Oh I'm so glad you did X instead of Y" or "Thank goodness you went with vendor A instead of vendor B." While Grecia wasn't afraid to advocate for us when we needed her or asked her to, she also gave us the space to make our own decisions and trust our own gut when it came to some of these big wedding decisions. In addition, there was not a single ask that we threw to Grecia that she said 'no' to - including many options we didn't follow up on or end up using. As an example, I have celiac disease and there was a lot of drama around finding a gluten free cake that wouldn't taste like cardboard. Grecia went and found a cake vendor that could do a gluten free cake and had good reviews. Ultimately, we didn't end up doing a cake at all and Grecia didn't seem bothered by having to search for a vendor with a special request or that we decided to go a more non-traditional route and have our wedding sans-cake. As with any relationship (partner, therapist... wedding planner), y'all have to get to know each other. Be sure to ask the hard questions when you have your first meeting with Grecia - let her know what it is you're looking for (or if you have no idea, that's probably okay too). I think Grecia did an excellent job getting to know both me and my partner - our strengths and weaknesses, our likes and dislikes - and we certainly enjoyed getting to know Grecia also! Each of us brought strengths to the table during this wedding planning process and I think we ultimately made a really good team -- the final product was truly incredible. She helped make our vision come to life with kindness, patience, tenacity, and organization. I would absolutely recommend Grecia if you are planning your big day. And a special note from my husband - Grecia was incredibly attentive to our guests during the wedding. This can be especially hard to do when you feel like you have to be 100 places at once. Let me start by saying that Grecia is extremely professional and is great at what she does! I met her at the annual wedding show early this year. I've talked to a few wedding planners before I decided to go with GB Weddings. And hiring her services was the greatest investment for our special day! Grecia assisted my husband and I with full-service wedding coordination and planning in San Diego. She was extremely helpful in suggesting and selecting excellent vendors that matched what we wanted and were within our budget. I didn't have a single problem with any of our vendors during the planning process or the day of our Wedding. All vendors provided excellent services and products. Grecia also provided superior communication via email, text and phone and were willing to work around my schedule and time zone difference. I am active duty Navy, and I was gone majority of the time, but having Grecia update me on specifics and the things that needed to be done, it made the planning process so much easier! She was able to communicate via Email, specially with vendor details and contracts. She made herself available for meetings when I was on a time crunch. Even months prior to and as the day of our Wedding approached, Grecia became increasingly involved with communicating with vendors, creating event diagrams, and timeline schedules. The day of the event she was hands on at all times and ensured our Wedding was perfect! She was able to make little adjustments to our schedule as needed (when my husband and I took longer to take pictures after the ceremony) and everything went so smoothly! Grecia is extremely professional and so pleasant to work with. She listened to our wants and vision and helped us communicate that to our vendors and venues. She made our priorities her priority and made us feel that our wedding was also as important to her as it was to us. This made us feel extra special! On the day of our Wedding, I was stress-free! We had the wedding of our dreams thanks to GB Weddings! Grecia was an amazing coordinator! She was professional and really understood our vision of the wedding right from the start. We had an unconventional wedding, actually a surprise wedding disguised as an engagenent party in Rosarito, Mexico . It was important for us to have an intimate gathering with a beautiful setting by the water. We had the vision, we just didn't know what that would look like financially. Grecia worked with our budget and provided us with options on venues and vendors. These were all people Grecia had worked with before and are all trusted professionals. My husband is a big foodie and wanted the best fresh seafood in Baja. Grecia connected us with a wonderful catering company lead by Chef Ryan with Sky Catering. The food was superb! Grecia found the most beautiful location to have our wedding. We rented a home in the Primo Tapia area over looking the ocean with a large terrace enough to accommodate our guests. The view was just breathtaking! GB Weddings made the whole process seamless. The day of the wedding, I was naturally nervous as any bride would be. But knowing that Grecia was coordinatoring everything, took the pressure off of me because I knew she was going to make sure things would run smoothly. Hire Grecia! She is timely, thoughtful, well-connected, and professional to the highest caliber. I hired her for the Month-of Planning package and she made sure my time with her was time and money well-spent. It is expected that she would have excellent rapport with her professional connections but even the wedding vendors who had newly met her, always mentioned how sweet and lovely an individual she is. I could not agree more. Unfortunately, my fiance and I had to postpone our wedding to 2021 and go with a different venue that came with a coordinator and so we had to cancel the other half of our services with her. She was completely understanding and professional even after our connection ended. A story that really shows her excellence was when I had the incorrect email address for one vendor, so they were not aware I had postponed my wedding. They contacted her to follow-up about a bill. Even though we were no longer connected, she went out of her way to email them back and notify them and then CC me on the email. She could have been blameless for not replying to them as that responsibility was on me, but she is just amazing. Just wow! You will be so glad to hire her and you definitely won't regret it. It gives me great displeasure to bash someone, but Grecia Binder is inexcusably ineffective as a wedding coordinator. I beg fellow brides to reconsider at this most stressful but thrilling time in their lives. Grecia missed so many details that had been carefully planned out that--a year and a half later-- it still makes me want to cry. I did not hire Grecia Binder. She wound up being my day of wedding coordinator through unusual circumstances. Grecia was outsourced to me by Catherine Bachelier Smith--DBA CBS Lifestyle--who had double booked the date of my wedding. This was after I signed a contract with Catherine. Catherine told me that she was going to attend a Bar Mitzvah that she had booked before my wedding instead. Catherine gave me the chance to back out of the contract but I was caught unaware and did not have time to find a replacement coordinator. In hindsight, this may have been where I went wrong. Because at this point I trusted Catherine--I agreed to work with her until the day of our wedding. It is very painful to write this review. I have been on the fence since the day of our wedding because I don't want to hurt anyone's business. However, I feel that since planning a wedding requires an investment of considerable love, time, and money, I want to prevent another person from experiencing the disappointment that I had working with CBS Lifestylist and GB Weddings. When I started planning my wedding--about a year before the big day--I decided my strategy would be to hire the very best talent I could find and give them a lot of leeway. I am grateful to say that all my other wedding vendors --the band, photographer, videographer, cake baker, etc.-- did a great job. Wanting to give credit where it is due, I recommend the other vendors on Yelp and other wedding review sites. The only weak link was my wedding coordinator. But a coordinator has the power to make or break a wedding. In order to ensure that my wedding coordinator had all the information to properly do her job, I made sure she had full access to lists, spreadsheets, etc. While a band might need only a song list, a coordinator needs to be able to keep track of all the details of the entire day. Grecia not only did not take the time to know the names of my family members, she did not make an effort to keep everyone organized through the ceremony. As ours was a big, multi generational wedding, Grecia should have known that elderly and very young participants may need "hands-on" instructions, which they did not get. My grandma walked with my nephew and they wound up walking down the side of the ceremony instead of the aisle. Where was Grecia when this was happening? Also, the florist foolishly had set glass vases on the grass for the ceremony and one of them fell over because it was top heavy. Grecia's solution was to just lean the broken glass vase against one of the ceremony chairs. Talk about precarious! There were also many oversights and mistakes made during the reception. My mother and I had been collecting old family wedding photos from our families and made ornaments to hang from the floral arrangements inside the ballroom. Collecting the photos and finding someone to make the ornaments was a pretty involved process so we wanted to make them as visible as possible. To that end, I had rented high boy tables to be placed in between the regular tables. We even spent the extra money to have these high boys covered in navy sequin table linens. The idea was that people could see the ornaments at eye level. I had spoken to and emailed both Catherine and Grecia multiple times about these ornaments and how I wanted the high boys set up. It was an element of the reception that meant a lot to me. I was so disappointed to see that Grecia did not do this. Instead, she put the ornaments on the greeting table outside the ballroom (where people picked up their table numbers) and the old wedding photos were very easy to overlook. They were never moved into the ballroom, which also meant the highboys were without any adornment except table cloths. At least the photographer shot them so I could see later how they turned out. For some reason, the ballroom was garishly bright. As a bride surrounded by my loved ones, I consciously chose to block this out, stay in the moment and be a party goer at my wedding. However, I did say something to Grecia about turning down the lights. Twice. Still, the ballroom was lit up like a dang convention hall. What a shame. We had a disco ball and you couldn't even see it shimmer. Additionally, I had two bathroom amenity baskets for the two ladies room--customized hand towels, combs, q-tips, etc. For some reason, only one of the baskets made it into a ladies room. I think this was just a spacey oversight on the part of the coordinator. It is another example of money and time wasted. Dessert tables were poorly placed. We hired GB Weddings for Day Of Coordination services for our recent wedding and it was such a great decision! Grecia is the reason our big day was 100% stress-free and enjoyable. Me and my husband got married this August. It was one of the most wonderful, special and fun days of our lives and that is thanks in no small part to Grecia. We made the decision to hire a day of coordinator since our venue was one to the public prior to our ceremony, leaving a very small window of time to set up decorations, centerpieces etc. When I was searching for a day of coordinator, I was very surprised to find that several "did not do decorations" which I did not understand at all. We eventually found two day of coordinators that we had free consultations with. While both were lovely, Grecia stood out to us as someone who is very professional and capable. She offers different packages including full coordination, month of and day of. We went with day of since I had already hired most of our vendors and mainly needed help with decoration set up, clean up and making sure things went smoothly the day of the wedding. For what we paid, I felt it well worth it. Grecia went above and beyond, helping us by calling vendors on our behalf and reminding us to make payments to our vendors. She also coordinated with everyone, even hair, makeup-up and a friend who was making homemade boquets in order to ensure everyone was on the same page and on schedule. All of our others vendors also commented on how on top of everything Grecia was. In fact, the contact person from our catering/rental company was a no-show on the day of the wedding however we didn't really even notice since everything went so smoothly.
