It's a little run down could use some up grades but it's suitable for the price, you get what you pay for. The mattress was worn, room furniture too. Room was clean and everything worked fine I have no complaints, it's just basic. The best part was a balcony with beach view and that's all I wanted so it was worth the price for sure. Beach access and a pool with free on site parking and in a convenient location. Staff was ok, it was slow checking in, but express check out where you just drop off room keys to counter. Absolutely disgusting place. The room that I spent $2600.00 on looked nothing like the photos. All the furniture was banging up really bad, wall paper falling off, looked yo be mold on the ceiling. Looked to be feces on the bed duster. I felt unsafe for my daughter and I. When we rushed out of the room the "maid" was smoking weed. Trash all over in the halls. Based on the rate and how we were able to snag a room on a Friday night, Spring break weekend, WAS NOT BAD. We were thankful to find a room available at all. Now at first glance, it does look like a mote older hotel compared to all the other grand hotels around this one. It is beach front, has a pool and parking garage. Located more south Myrtle with a Neighborhood Walmart within walking distance to hotel. Inside it is a bit run down but the rooms actually looked a bit renovated. We had two queen beds, mini fridge, coffee maker and a patio to enjoy the sea breeze. Overall, not a bad hotel and location even if its for a night or a whole weekend. My ONLY HUGE complaint was the wifi and TV. Unfortunately since the wifi was acting up, we were not able to watch any TV as all they had were Netflix, Hulu, all wifi based platforms. I wanted something to fall asleep too and unfortunately couldnt enjoy a nice movie. Either way, for the price point, location and views, I would def come back and recommend. read more

There is SO much that needs improvement about this location. Let's start with the carpeting in the halls, the peeling appliances, the corroded doors, the mold that seemed to be spreading everywhere is just the beginning. I would not recommend staying here and will never stay here again. The ocean view and the shower pressure were the best things happening here. read more

Blondie at the front desk (can't remember her name) & the view were lovely. The room & inn itself was another story and that story gives horror/mystery/trap house vibes. I don't know why this place has a 6+ rating because this was not an ideal place to stay minus the view, beach proximity and price but I got what I paid for I guess. I wouldn't stay here again unless someone paid me a lot of money to. Stay here at your own risk because phew! There's mold, destroyed and unrepaired doors caused by salt, thin walls, room was fairly unclean and not fully wiped down. I had to clean the bathroom and I don't go on vacation to clean up. The walls were not insulated enough because we heard our neighbors partying through the door oh and smelled their smoke even though there were no smoking signs everywhere. I killed a bug on my bed night 1 but it seemed to be the only one thank goodness. However we slept with the lights on both nights to feel comfortable. I knew driving up and seeing their "gazebo", signage and parking lot we were in for trouble. This place needs a serious overhaul honestly! read more

I was going to leave it alone and not leave a review and just take the loss.. until I reached my breaking point. I stepped on glass in my room and I have an 11 month old with us. That could have been him. That tells me that the floors were not clean and I also had sand all in my bed when we hadn't even slept in it. This was my final straw after being told we couldn't get a full refund. In the beginning, I did not want to stay here. Because not even 5 minutes of being there I watched 2 drug deals in the parking lot. Yes we threw a fit in the beginning because of that and the suprise fees that the website I booked did not mention (which was not on them I did not know how that worked I've never booked with third party before the website told me everything was paid for) when we got there i did not want to pay more than 500 for this because I could of booked with a nicer hotel with all the amenities. I asked if everything worked and the front desk lady told me yes. Went to go use the pool and it was disgusting. Had people yell at me from the top of the building saying "I wouldn't get in there" "don't get in that pool!" There was a hot tub that was yellow colored and it wasn't hot just a heated kitty pool that people were swimming in with goggles. The elevator had people going up and down and kids were just pushing every button. Seriously waited there for 30 minutes on an elevator. On the balconies there were people fighting and being loud right next to us. I couldn't sleep or put my baby to sleep because there were people banging on the other side of the wall. The parking situation is outrageous. Almost crashed in the bottom part it is so compact and we have a pretty large SUV. They say that SUVS are supposed to park at the top and smaller cars at the bottom but they did not enforce this had every small car parked at the top and when we complained about it we got told to deal with it and park in the "overflow parking" and when we did there was a sign saying "We are not responsible for theft and damages to cars" saw some pretty sketchy individuals scoping out our car. The next hour we see they made exceptions for everyone else and had people park in a line on the other side of the parking lot which made it so hard to pull out. We took the vacation to not stress and to forget our worries because we had a lot going on with family which was why we took the vacation in the first place. This just made it worse I was crying the whole time because all I wanted was to enjoy our time when the place we were staying at just made it so much worse. Don't stay here if you have kids and don't want your complaints and requests to be completely ignored. There Was a cancellation fee or we would of just booked somewhere else immediately but we already calculated all of our funds and expenses in and planned out the whole trip to get there and have more surprise payments which on the website says "includes all fees and taxes" which is confusing but I understand they had nothing to do with the 3rd party booking but it made us feel like we were not cared for and it didn't matter because we booked with someone else but it was for something that is truly not worth it even for it being oceanfront. Spent more time trying to find a new place to stay than actually enjoying our time. Still am not going to get a refund even though we rightfully should. The first day I asked for clean sheets and my room to be cleaned better and still after 3 days got completely ignored. They didn't try to accommodate to any of our needs. Now i apologize for the way we acted in the beginning but with our experience I think that is fully acceptable because THIS is absolutely unacceptable. Stepping on glass in a hotel my almost 1 year old is in is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. Turned my toe purple. We will not be staying here anymore and i advise you to not stay here either waste of time waste of money book somewhere else. As well as a huge safety and health risk. The vents have not been cleaned in idk how long. this morning I woke up chest hurts I have mucus in my lungs and coughing up stuff. Not one to normally get sick or have allergies but looking at the AC and vents tells me the place is just all around disgusting. Okay, where to begin. First off, when we arrive they were applying a seal coat to their upper parking level which basically cut their available parking to a quarter of it's normal capacity. We entered through the bottom parking area which is extremely tight and very hard to maneuver no matter what size car you happen to be driving. And to make matters worse in that area, that is where they are storing junk from the rooms they are redoing. Then there's the exterior of this hotel. It looks like it has not been updated and probably 20 or more years. I went to their so-called lobby which are two chairs outside of the office where they have a sign posted on the door that only one party was allowed in the office at a time. So once it was my turn to go into the office they still have a plexiglass left over from covid days. Separating you and the person behind the counter and she barely speaks above a whisper making it hard for you to hear her. I gave her my paperwork from where I had booked online and she assigns me a room number that is totally different from the one indicated on my paperwork and tells me my room is still not ready. It took a few moments to convince her that I already had an assigned room and and did not need to be assigned a different room. Once she realized the mistake I was told my room actually was ready. On top of what I had paid on the booking site, I had to pay an additional $12 for some sort of fee and then put down a $100 security deposit. So I could get my room. I went ahead and paid these unexpected fees. And I was told I would get a security deposit back in three to five business days. Went to the room and the hallway looks like a disaster area. Open the door to the room and at least it was decently clean and it did have the small kitchenette as advertised. The only absolute saving Grace of the room is the fact that it's an ocean front and not an ocean view. read more

Great price for a beach front view. The parking is horrible though. Parking garage where the entrance is also the exit, with a single narrow lane, so you better hope no one turns in fast when you're trying to leave. When we arrived after our 3 pm check in time, we still had to wait for an hour until our room was ready. Then we finally got in and my boyfriend went into the bathroom...and when he lifted the toilet seat, there was feces splattered all over the underside of the toilet seat. Luckily the housekeeping employee was in the hallway outside our room, so he had to go ask her to please clean the toilet for us. The door didn't close all the way, like it had been kicked in before, so there was a gap even when it was locked. The place is old with minor updates (newer flooring and the tv, beds and other furniture seems newer) but the kitchen and bathroom areas are old and grody looking. We did see one cockroach in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable. We had to deal with some noisy people yelling at each other outside and some other people hanging out in the hallways being loud. Even though we had to deal with some bad things here, we had a nice view and we were in walking distance of the beach, for a decent price, so I'm giving 3 stars. read more

Squalid. But hilariously so. This is a stained, crumbling cement box quietly decomposing between two much nicer hotels. If a straight-to-VHS filmmaker needed a location to shoot "Sand-Covered Meth Hooker Zombies", there would be zero set dressing needed. It's ready now. Every square inch of original 1950's carpeting is frayed and worn thin. The blotches on the wallpaper have blotches. The bottom of every door is delaminated and warped from water seepage, the door to my room had clearly been kicked in a few times, as the wood around the dead-bolt was busted away. An electrical outlet in the room was pulled out from the plaster wall, its wires still intact. How/why does that happen? The air conditioner was a museum piece that clanked and hissed. But I nitpick...it's $70 a night on the less-glamorous end of Ocean Blvd. I didn't expect a mint on the pillow. ON THE UPSIDE...everyone who works there is lovely. From the desk staff to the housekeepers to the guy skimming the pool. All smiles and genuinely nice people. The sheets and towels were very clean. The TV is big and new with all the streaming apps loaded on it. (mounting it to the wall must have been an interesting project, they haven't gotten around to fixing the holes from the last two somethings that were mounted there) The janky old A/C unit I mentioned above worked so well it made the room like a walk-in freezer. Maybe I got lucky, but I never heard a sound from any other room. The location is fantastic, walk outside and you're on the sand...I was on the third floor with ocean view...sunrise with the waves is gorgeous. The pool was always full of kids having a great time. SUMMARY: I loved it, but I also love reading Elmore Leonard, so consider that. Would I bring my wife (or anyone I cared about) to stay here with me? Oh, absolutely not. Would I stay here again alone for the sound of the waves, the nice people, and bizarre retro grittiness? Definitely. read more

We have been guest for at least 20 years. This trip was a nice trip and rates are still affordable. The only complaint this time is "the judge" and his wife. They claim to be part of management but more like the creepy man down the street. Watching me and my husband in the pool like he's hoping to see us to do something. This was our first stay at The Gazebo Inn and for an older hotel it was a great stay. We had a room with a kitchen and though it was small it suited our family well. Our room was cleaned, beds made, and towels exchanged daily; you don't even get that at the high end hotels. The hotel staff were all so very friendly and considerate; we arrived late at night to check in and our key was left out for us and a light was even turned on for us in our room. WiFi is spotty but that was ok as we were spending so much time on the beach we didn't even worry about WiFi. There's parking under the main lot which is tight to maneuver in an suv but wasn't too bad as we were out of the weather and could easily get to our room via the stairs or elevator. We really enjoyed our stay and there's no doubt that we'd stay here again if the chance arises. read more

Honestly, if it weren't for the pool, and Oceanside this hotel would be out of business. We came here with my family: parents, siblings, all of our children, for a two night stay at the beach. A weekend getaway. While we were there we found 4 cockroach water bugs the length of my pinky finger. The exterminator showed up and tried to bug spray in our rooms, where we were keeping two babies under the age of two, with their baby formula and baby food. The hotel maid staff complained that my niece who is 15 months, had made some crumbs in the floor in her room with her snack. She was upset that he had to get the vacuum. The rest of the room was very tidy, except for the food that had fallen in the floor from the high chair. The hotel maid persisted by calling my niece a "little fatty". When my sister and brother-in-law went down to speak to the hotel owner regarding the maid's inappropriate conduct, The owner literally cursed them, using the F word, and telling them "to get the F out". Later, she came out and apologized, and offered to credit them one night on their hotel stay. We found out later, that she had another family out that morning - for a messy room? And they had left threatening to sue her. We also found out, that made service is not complementary, it is mandatory. You cannot hang a do not disturb sign on your door. They must be allowed in. Between the extremely poor customer service, and the uncleanliness of the hotel (my dad found what appeared to be spilled yellow dried up drink or vomit in one of his dresser drawers), I give the Gazebo Inn 1 star. read more

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Gazebo Inn a few times and we absolutely loved it! The staff was very nice and accommodating, the private balconies are a great touch, and the rooms were very clean. We have stayed at the Gazebo Inn both during the summer and winter months, and no matter the season, fantastic experience! We haven't always been the best guests-not very punctual, not always the tidiest; however, this was not an issue for the staff. We were treated with respect which meant a lot to us as twenty-somethings on vacation in a party town. The walls are totally sound-proof; the place was sold out for the week, and we didn't hear so much as a peep from any other room. 5-stars!!!!! It was inexpensive, on the beach, had a pool, friendly and clean. :) I liked that you need your key to enter the building after 1am - made me feel safer in an unfamiliar area? I have stayed at this hotel multiple times per year since 2008, but I will not be returning. It used to have such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere but now there is absolutely no hospitality shown at all. My family had a reservation for 3/6-3/9. We were not asked for a credit card number for a deposit, which we thought nothing of since about half the time they don't ask for one. The lady we made the reservation with asked what time we would be there and said check in is at 2. We said we would be there around 2 then. We actually arrived a little after 4, due to getting a late start leaving home and our daughter getting sick along the way. There was no one at the office, so we called the number listed. We had to speak with three different people, who all spoke to us like we were idiots, saying we should've made a deposit. Finally, we spoke with the woman who made the reservation for us, who said she told us we would have to call before 2 the day of the reservation. She never said that. Why would we need to call the day of a reservation anyway? Isn't that the point of making a reservation? So we had to look for another hotel that had an opening, after driving 6.5 hours with a cranky 4-year-old with an upset tummy. **I posted the above review on Trip Advisor, and as she does with every negative review, Julie responded to the review with some pretty outrageous lies. I'll address those here, since I can't on Trip Advisor.** The reservations were made on speakerphone, and again, a credit card was never mentioned. 12pm was never mentioned either. She also never said anything about limited off season hours. Additionally, absolutely NO ONE was abusive on the phone. The first gentleman we spoke with just kept asking if we had put down a deposit, and every time we told him we hadn't, he said we should have. Then he said we needed to call a different number. The second number went to a lady who said that Julie put in the system that we told her we would call before 2pm if we were still coming, and that she cancelled the reservation since we didn't. We asked what that meant for us as far as checking in goes, and she said we could check in if Julie felt like coming to check us in, but we'd have to talk to her. She passed our number on to Julie who called, and she immediately started screaming as soon as my boyfriend answered the phone. She said he called her a liar and she didn't appreciate that. He tried to tell her he did not call her a liar, but she kept cutting him off and ranted for several minutes. Finally, he asked, "So are we just out of luck then?" And she answered, "You called me a liar. You are definitely out of luck." Julie's response states someone was there until 4:45 and that they tried to reach us on our cell phone before leaving. That's funny, because I'm looking at the call log right now and the last call in the series was received at 4:23, while we were sitting in the parking lot of Gazebo Inn, and there are NO missed calls from them or anyone else on that day. Julie said we won't find a comparable hotel, but we did. Bermuda Sands was only $20 extra for an oceanfront room that included a kitchen instead of the microwave and mini fridge we would've gotten at Gazebo, and there's an indoor pool and hot tub we wouldn't have gotten to enjoy at Gazebo. Plus, its location is closer to everything anyway. So I'm glad Julie decided to act this way, or else I never would've discovered my new go-to hotel. read more

Our room was an efficiency room on the 4th floor. Nice room, clean, had all the necessities for our week long stay. I loved the rocking chairs on our ocean front balcony. Quiet hotel. Very clean pool and hot tub. The staff was very pleasant. One staff member even gave up her parking space for us, so we could park on the main level. It is not a modern hotel. However if you are looking for a basic clean hotel that will meet all your needs at a terrific price this could be your place to stay. I would stay at the Gazeboo Inn again. I found this gem based on Trip Advisor reviews. We had a reservation at a bigger hotel, but I wasn't sure about the condition of the other hotel and we were also trying to save some $. We canceled there and booked here. We made reservations over the phone with a one-night deposit and it was easy. Everything was smooth upon arrival and we got checked in easily. Our room was a double ocean view efficiency on the 4th floor (and my parents had ocean front king.) We actually didn't end up needing the efficiency kitchen, but it was nice to have the extra kitchen room. My parents had extra closet room where our kitchen was and they also had a nice seating area instead of the 2 beds. The hotel is small and quaint with old school Myrtle Beach charm. It's dated, as was expected, but taken care of. It's right on the ocean and views are great. Walking to the ocean is quick. The pool was clean, which was nice. We had zero noise issues with neighbors. Our housekeeper was such a nice guy and made arrangements for us during our 2 year old's nap time. Parking was never an issue for us; we actually found parking at the entrance every time. Everyone was friendly and helpful. It's also close to everything: the boardwalk area, Surfside and Murrell's Inlet, Broadway at the Beach, and a Walmart across the street. If you're looking for a fancy, large hotel, then this is not it. However, if you're looking for an economical, friendly staffed, family oriented hotel for a nice vacation, then Gazebo Inn could be your new go to place in Myrtle Beach. read more

This hotel is extremely outdated with ancient beds and old box televisions that apparently do still exist. These old TVs aren't a cute novelty throwback, just plain ol junk with awful pictures. In the owner's defense, it is a very budget friendly accommodation with ocean views, clean rooms that are roach & insect free. Bearable for those who can easily himble themselves for a few days OR if you're absolutely out of options as I was. Great old school spot for elderly people or older married couples who plan to stay in their rooms or occasionally walk beach for vacation. The hotel staff is relatively friendly but ridiculously strict on their policies and nosey beyond belief. They do NOT allow any unregistered guests to visit your room for any length of time. My aunt who brought me food was hassled for entry regarding her hour visit. No one is allowed passed the desk if you aren't a guest, fair enough. However, they obsessively watch their cameras (as informed 4 times now by all staff members) and they unapologetically impose on your business and question you as to what you are doing 24/7. Granted, I am not into drugs or hookers which I understand may be an issue for such an cheap old hotel but They have no qualms on distuebing you with a knock on the door just to make sure you feel like you're doing something you "shouldn't" be. They lock this ancient building up at night and you can only access the building via room key which is unusual when there is no in house staff here past 10pm to let you in if your room key stops working (or in my case last night, the actual card reader broke and wouldn't accept any key). I had to wait outaide in an awful 25mph wind storm with frigid temps. A number was posted on the door for locked out guests only. After summoning a grumpy maintenance man, he finally showed up with plenty of attitude, questions and I'll intent. He wanted to find any reason he could to not admit me in my room 11pm at night. I had to redundantly verify petty booking details to get copies of my room keys. (Although I checked in with my Mom with the entire staffs knowledge.) My Mom was absent from the room while working 3rd shift and apparently she forgot to add my name on the guest list giving grumpy maintenance guy all the ammo he needed to make himself feel omportant and guve me an even harder time. Finally, he let me in and I enjoyed a quiet evening to myself. The invasion of privacy, prison like sanctions and the noticeable million nit-picky rules they have printed on every paper and written on every surface most definitely will keep me from ever staying here again. In fact, if they offered me a free month long vacation I would decline. There is no continental breakfast or common competitive ammenties most other hotels have (other than an old pool). They still run neck and neck on comparable nightly rates for hotels at this price point. Suprise! Gazebo Inn has no guests besides myself and maybe 1 or 2 other guests. In my 34 years of coming to this beach I have never heard of anyone staying here...it all makes more sense to me now. Finally, though this review may seem negative, it is true and factual. They are very respectful and grateful to veterans which is awesome. Also, I will add that it is my mother's opinion along with her husband that this hotel is nice & preferable to a 3 to 5 star resort. That said, they are 65 years old and only leave the room for a meal or a quick walk on the beach. Don't come here if you value privacy, practical policy, modern convenience or comfortable beds. However, if you are stuck in a winter wind storm with no where else in the world to go, Gazebo Inn is ideal in that scenario. Grateful to be checking out soon and hopefully not as soon as this review posts as I'm sure they would love to kick me out for being honest and keep my family's money. I stayed here last fall and loved it. I'm giving it 5 stars not because it's fancy and had a ton of amenities, but because it was clean, safe, in a great location and had great customer service with free parking at a budget price. Plus, it's on the beach. Those factors are more important to me than other things. I would definitely go back and hope to this summer. read more

I have stayed with the Gazeebo Inn exclusively since 1997. The property is an older property that has been maintained very well. I have been completely satisfied with all of my stays, until today. I made a reservation the day before my arrival, paid in full, and was ready for another peaceful vacation. Upon my arrival, there was a gentleman pressure washing by the front doors. He greeted me with a smile and a welcoming "hello". He got me a mask to wear when entering the building, and explained that they were required within the building. I put it on and proceeded to the office to complete my check-in. This is where things went downhill fast. The "owner", Julie, started the process of getting my paperwork, and once again explained about the masks and I stated that I was fine with wearing the mask within the building. She walks behind the desk and stated that she was going to refund my deposit, which was not a deposit, the room was paid for in full, because things were not going to work out with me staying there. She then proceeded to blast me with vulgarities, telling me to get off of her property. I asked her what the problem was, which she responded to with another string of vulgarities, and tried to force me out the door. I refused to move until I got a valid answer as to why I was being refused service. She then stated that it was because she felt I was lying and would not wear the mask within the building. I left the building and stopped and explained to the gentleman outside what had transpired, and asked if he felt I had been cooperative. He said that I had done what he asked, and he didn't know what the problem could have been. He proceeded to tell me that the motel was actually closed but they were trying to open it back up with limited customers. I asked if that's the case why would you take a reservation at a close property. He said they were trying to get open back up and we're having some difficulties. Then Julie comes out of the building, without wearing a mask, with my receipt where she had credited my account, started screaming profanities at me again and calling me vulgar names, at which point she refused to give me my receipt. She turned around and walked back in the building, only to turn around and come back out and start screaming at me again so I told her that's fine I will call the police I got my phone and started dialing. She waded the receipt up and threw it at me and said get the f*** off my property I'm not telling you again. The gentleman outside, at this point I realized was probably her husband, started calling her down and said that was totally uncalled for. After she went in he said that he was sorry that she had acted like that but things are really tense right now with this COVID pandemic going on, but that she should not have acted in that manner. So, the gazebo inn will never get another penny from me. As I said, it is a great little place to stay, it's always clean, the atmosphere has always been very welcoming, until today. So, good luck to what I am assuming is Julie's husband, you were more than kind and professional. With an attitude like she had I'm sure this place will be for sale before long. read more

The staff here is not friendly at all. The manager ran my card two times, then when confronted about it, became hostile and tried to kick my friends and I out, because since we were there for my birthday, we were there to "party." She then proceeded to post rebuttals to our Trip Advisor reviews stating that we are all liars. It is entirely too much money to pay for such low service. The maid literally walked into our room without knocking. You couldn't pay me to stay again. read more
