Our first visit day, they told us it was cash only and they were out of al pastor. Other than that, we had a great experience. We got 3 tortas and they were enormous. We were pretty hungry and only managed to eat half of each one. read more

I walked here from the hotel I was staying at after looking at the Yelp reviews. I'm glad I did. The location took some effort to find as it's among several other street vendors but it's worth it. They have menus in english and spanish and will certainly answer any questions you may have. The interior of the stall looked nice and clean and after I ordered my food came out in about 5 minutes. It was so tasty and flavorful. I took my food to go and walked back to my hotel (about a mile away) before I ate it and I really considered going back for more. It was that good. Holy vegan meat! This was the most food, best priced option I found in my week in Mexico City. In a city focused on carne this place left me feeling included tin the 'meat' culture, full and satisfied. It really is big if you order everything which I strongly recommend. Asimismo, tiene platos de temporada como chile en nogada o pan de muerto. Sus tortas son bien grandes y muy ricos - se puede hacer con dos "carnes", en mi caso elegí milanesa y salchicha. Ademas, me parece que el dueno cuida a sus empleados con precauciones del virus como mascarillas, gel antibacterial, y a veces solo servicio a domicilio. Stopped by here while running around Roma Norte for a quick dinner - really wonderful and helpful staff and fantastic food! I tried a couple of different tacos not wanting to struggle through understanding the menu. The el pastor are a must and definitely a stand out. The bistec were good too but not quite as. The soy meat is flavorful and with excellent texture. My friend got the milanesa, which she enjoyed. I had a bite of hers and wish I could have eaten a whole other one but they're filling! Woooooow. I can't begin to describe how happy i was to find an all vegan taco stand in Mexico City. They have everything from vegan horchata to al pastor to cupcakes. Wish I could find one of these street vendors in SoCal. Getting there can be a b*tch as its in the heart of Roma district in mexico city. The vegan taco scene in Mexico City is really stepping up (as I have read in many blogs) and a visit to Gatorta is a proof of that. Por Siempre - another vegan taco spot is pretty popular, however, not many have heard about Gatorta. We probably would have never gone to Gatorta if it wasn't right next to our hotel and I'm so glad that we did since not visiting this spot would have been a real miss for us. We wanted to get the al Pastor tacos but we went pretty late in the day so they were already out of it. We instead got the Salchica and Chorizo tacos both of which were very very good! I also ate my first ever hot dog here since they had a vegan version of it - it was really yummy too! If you are in Mexico City I would suggest going out of your way to eat here since it's probably the best tacos you will have! read more

Unfortunately, I ate at this place while in town based on Great reviews, the guy cooking didn't look like he cared much about hygiene, but I tried it anyways based on reviews and You-tube videos where this place was mentioned, food was good, but it has been the biggest regret, I have had abdominal pain and non stop diarrhea for a week now. Dios Mio! I live in LA and we have no shortage of excellent vegan food options in this city. However, CDMX is seriously giving LA a run for its money. And leading the way is Gatorta. This place blew my mind! And obviously I am not alone, as their was a decent sized queue of compassionate, cool people lined up waiting to get their hands on no less than 5 different types of vegan meats, grilled to order right in front of you. I went for the soyita pibil torta - piled high with all the fixins. I couldn't of been happier. It was truly incredible! They also have a variety of salsas and extra toppings - pickled and SPICY red onion with jalapenos, salsa roja, salsa verde, some sort of mild brown salsa, limes, etc... Though as I was eating my torta, I saw a different meat get added to grill. I asked the awesome staff what it was and it was al pastor (de trigo) - I had to try it so I ended up getting a taco as well. And DAMN was it delicious! I also ended up getting a slice of the BEST tiramisu I have EVER had (also VEGAN!). All of this for just MX$80! CDMX is really stepping up it's vegan dining scene but I am so thrilled that little places like this exist. Went on a food tour so didn't have room for one of their MASSIVE tortas, which only made me sad once I tried their food. The torta was incredible and the additions you could add were that much better (spicy!). They have an insane collection of sweets to try, if you still have room. Absolute hidden gem. Without yelp and google I could not have found this nondescript food cart on street corner. Three ladies who run this cart are all on point for serving quick and savory vegan Mexican food. I ordered Taco El Pastor and it was juicy and right level of spice. Ah Gatorta. I don't know why I really wanted to come here. It was rainy and stormy but something about the name drew me here. We got the tiramisu as recommended. My sandwich was not quite what I was expecting, but I now know the word for hot dogs in Spanish. Our adventures took us to an unassuming taco stand, but unlike any typical taco stand....It was Gatorta!!! This place offered the unimaginable , a menu of 100% vegan. We were amazed by the wonderful food options offered and our adventure didn't end there because we still needed to taste the food. As we devoured the tacos, tortas and the gringas, we were amazed by the explosion of flavors and spices. I grew eating meat, however eating Gatorta's vegan options I felt like I was back to eating real meat.The flavors were quite exquisite and the food served was plentiful. If you are ever in Mexico City and in search of a vegan spot, please make sure to stop by Gatorta. This place is a great vegan version of Mexican torta street food. We ate here like five times in a week. The tortas are really tasty. The workers are very friendly and the desert is out of this world. Only down side is that you have to eat standing up. We just took it back to our hotel. read more
