I will NEVER do business with this place again. The lady in the front (Linda) is so rude and nasty. I have overlooked her in the past because of the owners but yesterday was the last time for me. We ordered the Dinner for Two while here from Indiana on vacation. 4 meats, 4 sides. We chose chicken, sausage, ribs, pork, green beans, collard greens, sweet potatoes and mac-n-cheese. 2 large rootbeers, a side of fried green tomatoes and complimentary banana pudding. All under $35 (I think) but definitely under $40. Great service, clean establishment, friendly, professional and efficiently staff. Well-liked in the neighborhood from the size of the crowd that was pulling up after we placed our orders. Our order was to-go as we had our dog, it was starting to rain and we were heading back to the campgrounds. They do have seating, inside and outside. All the condiments were provided. Be sure to try their GOLD sauce, it is BOMB! Their sausage has a nice snap when you bite into it. The ribs fall off the bone. The chicken wasn't overcooked and had good flavor. Mac-n-cheese was on the creamy side, not so much cheesy. However, I am kind of a mac-n-cheese snob since my husband has spoiled us with his recipe. Green beans weren't salty or mushy, bonus in my book. Collard greens had good texture, not overcooked. Haven't tried everything here--in fact, far from it. But I give 4-1/2 stars to what we did try. I had a pork chop lunch with a sweet potato and fried squash. The fried squash was to die for!! So good! The pork chop was very good. My friend had the burnt ends and loved them. She also has the fried mushrooms, which were okay. The fried pickles were very good. Blonde lady is often rude and today I was not in the mood. Today I walked in around 12:30 PM for lunch. There was a gentleman picking up a large to go order and requested 2 extra bbq sauce packets. She huffed at him stating she would only give him one and any more would be $0.25 each. As the gentleman walked away the lady began tapping on the tablet screen looked at me and asked "For here or to go?" As I began approaching the counter I mentioned that my order was for here. I maybe got out "I would like a..." before the lady turned around and blurted out to the other workers "one of you will have to get him !" And walked off to the back. I just stood at the counter dumbfounded for a good few seconds processing what had just happened. Of course the other workers were busy so of course no one came up right away. Shock turned to anger and frustration and it was at this point I determined that it was best that I left. Their food is normally pretty good and and have let other instances some would consider to be rude such as over-talking me and let that go. I couldn't do it today. No matter how good their food is I am not going to be treated like absolute trash just to get it. Generally I am patient and understanding and had some one simply mentioned they would be with me in a moment when they finished what they were doing would have been perfectly acceptable. To tell your coworker to handle me and walk away in the middle of me speaking is not. I am not under any illusion that the loss of my business will do much of anything. In fact I wish them well. It will be some time before the sour taste goes away and I am able to return to try again. read more

This is real ole time bbq served up by the most friendly staff you'll find anywhere. Parking in the dirt under an old oak tree and walking up on the porch to enter this old shack seemed perfectly fitting for a place simply named Gator BBQ, if it had looked any different it may have been a little disappointing. The walk up to order at the chest high counter then find you're own seat can be a little unsettling since you may have just ordered food with no place to eat it unless your okay with eating it outside leaning against the building, yes it's that small and that popular, it seems the take out business is as vibrant as the eat in but that wasn't really an option for us and luckily we happened to find a small two seat table in the back corner that had just been wiped clean. It seems common practice to share tables with total strangers here and I doubt if you'll get any pushback from anyone who dines here it's just that kind of laid back atmosphere it's doubtful you'll find any one pretentious here. We tried the brisket the tenderloin and the turkey - l love the fact the sauces are served on the side rather than the meat drown by the staff since it's doubtful anyone knows my choice of sauce or how much I desire - the sauces are good but the natural smoke is more my preference. I would of liked a little more smoke flavor but I understand they are trying to please the masses here. The sides were excellent -the tender collards are a must try and the slaw is amazing - the unexpected sampling at the end of the meal was a complimentary cup of banana pudding which is the perfect dessert after enjoying great bbq. read more

I love this place. I can have BBQ or great seafood! I love all the great sides they have too. This place is tiny though and for this reason I always get my food to go. I've never felt comfortable eating right next to a stranger, but that's just me. I hope that one day they will expand their dining area. That would be awesome and would definitely increase their income. The place is always so busy every time I've dropped by. But who knows, maybe they like keeping things simple. read more

Ordered ahead and picked up 4 lbs each of pork and beef for an event the next day. They packed the meat and chilled it to be ready to be reheated. Next day heated the meat covered for 15 minutes at 350, then 15 minutes at 300, then the last 15 minutes at 250. The meat was perfect and juicy and the brisket got devoured. Gators provided us a bottle of the gold sauce - highly recommend - and it was great as usual. Their gold sauce - to me - is a combination of mustard, sweet, and spicy. It's a great sauce for all tastes. This place has been doing it right for years and it's worth the drive from any side of town. With a name like Gators, of course it's gonna be legit! read more
