I am really glad they did. We stayed in a two bedroom unit with my parents. There was plenty of room for all of us. There were plenty of blankets and towels, and the full-sized kitchen gave the place a nice home-like feel. There were even chilled glasses in the freezer for our drinks! The view from the patio is amazing. We enjoyed some time just sitting outside watching boats sail around the lake. For the July 4th fireworks, we sat on the deck (which is exclusive for guests) right on the water. We could not have asked for a better view. As much as we liked the atmosphere of the room, we liked the owners even better. We interacted mostly with Olga, who was so sweet and accommodating. Anything we needed was provided. She treated us to a fresh watermelon, and even allowed my wife (who is a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan) to take a Bills glass that was in the freezer home. I cannot say enough good things about Admiral Peabody's. It is definitely a place at which I would stay over and over again.

Admiral Peabody's was an affordable, clean and dog friendly hotel in Watkins Glen that we totally lucked into because it didn't even come up on our searches! This place totally exceeded our expectations. Admiral Peabody's doesn't feel like a hotel. It feels like your own lakeside cottage. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. We were able to sneak a look at the one bedroom bungalow cottages which were also adorable! Our suite was roomy, comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It was also really nice sitting on the deck right outside of our room. PLUS, Admiral Peabody's has a private dock right on the lake with tables, chairs and a blue tooth music system. I'm not sure how old this yelp listing is but the owner now is Luke. HE IS THE BEST. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Watkins Glen, don't pass up this hidden gem.

The place has a hippie/bohemian vibe, but so does all of Ithaca. Diane, the Inn keeper is an authentic, one of a kind bohemian in the best way possible. She goes out of her way to make you feel at home and welcome. My husband(a self proclaimed square, conservative) was enamored with her. She took a lot of time to give us really excellent recommendations for restaurants and hikes. We just loved her and the place. We had the most beautiful veranda view of the lake and the sunset. We stayed here for 2 nights in the Cottage Blue/French Yellow Suite - which are two adjoining rooms with a lot of beds - great for a group! The room was so cute and adorable. There was a half bath in the room and a full bathroom across the hall. I absolutely loved the breakfast they provided on the weekends. Lou & Vickie cooked it themselves! The first time we had German eggs - mmmm cheesy eggs - I finished my entire plate because it was so yummyyy! The second night we had peach french toast, which was also very good! There were also homemade biscuits, scones, parfait yogurt with fresh fruits. All the food was nicely presented and delicious! They also serve coffee at 6:30AM for those early birds! Notes: This place is within walking distance to Watkins Glen State Park if you are up for the walk. It's about a 15 minute walk or 0.8 miles. Once you get to the top of Watkins Glen you can even walk home (all down hill on the walk home since the park is all uphill walking!) You can get there early and not pay for parking too (before 8 am) A great weekend at a wonderful B&B!

Both times I stayed there I expected to be at a reasonable hour, but ended up with serious delays and arrived after midnight! Al was up waiting for me both times, and greeted me cheerfully, despite the late hour. THANK YOU, AL! (He even gave me a beer, which I sorely needed by then.) The rooms are glorious, with great beds and bedding, and incredibly comfortable, with private bathrooms. I'm hoping to visit Corning again this year, and will definitely stay with Al and Cathy if I can! (Cathy even had fruit infused water available in the public fridge. Just like downtown Big City, but without the price tag!)

In the bedroom is a frig, microwave, desk, closet. Down the hall is a washer and dryer. Downstairs, there is always fresh coffee, water, yogurt, eggs, etc. There is a gorgeous creek out back. We had so many places to choose to sit and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. In the winter, the home is warmed with a wood stove which makes it very homey and cozy. We are planning our visit this fall. Al and Cathy will be sure you are taken care of and always respect your privacy at the same time. Highly recommend spending time here at Country Living.

On the flip side, the owner has planted some tree lines that should grow in and make the space more secluded over time. To boot, there's a drought and the area is less lush than usual. But now the GOOD stuff. Clean, quaint, every attention to detail is considered. Breakfast basket, swing, firepit, barbecue grill, porch facing the brook. Just great. Firewood can be purchased on site for $4. We are really happy to be here instead of a hotel. Grilling in the evening to save money and be outdoors. We're really enjoying the experience.
