We all enjoyed our iced coffees. I got a cherry vanilla iced latte that was so good. Tasted like a cherry cordial dessert. The guys got two iced white mochas. They both enjoyed theirs. My sister got an orange juice & a birthday cake scone. I had an ooey gooey bar I believe it's called. Really good but very sweet so I split between a few of us. They have so many seating areas, books, games. They have plenty of extra drinks to choose from not only on their menu but in their refrigerator section. I got two olli pop sodas for later. Amazingly good coffee. Gathering Grounds has that going for it. It however misses on the prices. Expensive as fuck. They do have some good treats. For a small place this always has such a line. It has a drive thru but it totally sucks. They are pretty slow most of the time. It also doesn't have the dining room open. That means everyone is stuck in the drive thru. It was already slow before. The other bad thing is this is expensive. As for the coffee, it's good even though it's just Crimson Cup. They don't make their own. It has a few non dairy milks. This is typical these days so it's nothing special. A latte can be made with almond milk. It's about $3.50 for a medium without the non dairy milk in. They also have some treats. Baked goods from local bakeries. They also have Bobo bars, in some hard to find flavors like the peanut butter and jelly. It basically is a Crimson Cup but with a name change. Okay but expensive. They aren't anything too special but they're the best around here though. read more

How anyone could give this coffee house less than 5 stars blows my mind. I didn't even get to go inside due to COVID safety restrictions, just used the drive thru, but I did look through the window of the front door and was smitten all around. From Thursday - Sunday (at least right now), they also have a space for the Sweet Pea Flower Cart outside to sell her fresh-cut flowers. LOVE! This is easily one of my top three favorite coffee shops in Ohio. I really resonate with local businesses that have a deep character and pay attention to the details in their environment to create a welcoming atmosphere. In my opinion, many of our Ohio coffee shops are not inviting or comfortable enough to stay at for a while. But I get the vibe Gathering Grounds wants you to stay, and I love that! Located next door to the Huron Yacht Club, you'll see Gathering Grounds right on the corner of Main Street. During COVID, they are drive thru only, which moves quickly. They even had a sign on the drive thru window that said "Instructions for Pedestrians" and that made me LOL. I had a Matcha Latte which was delicious. Even though you can't go in right now, they've done a beautiful job decorating the outside. There's beautiful mums, pumpkins, corn stalks and potters adorning a few small bistro tables outside. It's a wonderful autumnal vibe. I see how hard you're working, Gathering Grounds, and I can't wait for you to open up in full again! read more

We were in Huron visiting for a few days and we came here every morning! I am a Starbucks lover and thought this place was better than Starbucks. I'm not sure how people are saying it's "expensive", we got 2 large coffees, a macchiato and a latte, and it was 10 dollars, which I feel is normal these days. This inside is so cute, and the staff is friendly! We will definitely be back the next time we're in the area! read more

This place is great to stop in. The drinks are fantastic. The atmosphere is lovely. I messed up and grabbed someone else's drink (I was in my own world, apparently). I apologized and the staff were so, so nice! They made the other drink for the other patron (sorry, again!) and they made my original order. Roasted: cute little local coffee shop in Huron OH. They serve crimson cup coffee. Staff was very friendly. I enjoyed the atmosphere - music at a good volume, good decor and very comfortable. Latte was ok - temperature was too hot to enjoy and the taste of the espresso didn't come through like I would prefer. Unroasted: my latte was good and was able sip it down once it cooled off. The ambiance of the shop was great with a pop up jeweler. Staff was friendly even though one of the girls was clearly new. If I am ever back in town I would come back. No sugar added read more

This place is cute and the staff is friendly. It is a good spot for meeting friends to chat. The coffee is also great and they have a good amount of options for snacks and bites. I appreciate the drive through especially if you're vacationing nearby - it's quick and easy! I wouldn't recommend trying to work from this spot. We recently moved to the area and were referred to get a cup of coffee here. We were about 10 minutes short of closing at 2pm. Called to see if we could order 2 regular coffees -and pay- so as to not keep the staff later. We were told no phone orders. We were about 2 minutes away so drove there. Ordered the coffees - saw about 3-4 unfriendly looking employees. All stared at us and even scolded us for not being familiar with the place, ordered procedures etc. WOW! what the? We could not have been treated more rudely. Now I read all the other reviews about the same unfriendly unprofessional immature and drama filled staff. My coffee was good, bUT my husbands coffee tasted horrible - like cleaner or chemicals. Wasn't worth going back - I'm sure they were closed - since the guy slammed the windows shut and locked them after he got done yelling at us when we got our coffees. No way I was going back - but unless he was the owner - the owner better take note of the out of control staff's behavior. read more

Love coming to Gathering Grounds when I'm back in my hometown visiting my family. The only complaint I have is that I wish it would've opened when I lived here. The staff is friendly, the coffee is great, and I always love looking at the merchandise they have for sale. I also enjoy the seasonal drinks, including the coconut mocha this summer. I'd highly recommend this place. They even put the straws in your drinks for you. Coffee does taste better at the lake! read more

Our coffee was really good! However, I walked in close to 2pm, completely unaware that they were about to close. We were just visiting the area and were on our way out of town and I just happened to see this place and wanted to stop in for something to go. My husband was waiting in the car with our dog so I walked in and ordered a small almond milk latte and a small mocha. When I looked around and noticed the lights in the case of pastries was off and it appeared that the other employee not taking my order was cleaning things up, it dawned on me. I immediately said "oh are you guys about to close? I'm so sorry!" The employee stated "we closed at 2." I responded with profuse apologies and stated the door was not locked and I truly was not paying attention. I also volunteered that we weren't from the area. Both employees basically just stared at me and were visibly irritated. I stood by the cash register waiting for my coffees and was instructed by one of the employees to move down to the end of the counter to wait for my beverages....all of a couple feet to my right, and I'm obviously the only customer in the entire place. She gruffly handed me my coffees with no indication of which drink was which and when I said thank you she said NOTHING in response. We aren't from the area but we do visit regularly, and will definitely not return. read more

My wife likes a good cup of coffee when we are in Huron and that is what they serve. I on the other hand drink decaf. and prefer the swiss water processed and not chemically processed. They only serve the chemically processed even though their excellent roasting house Crimson sells two other water processed blends. We attempted to purchase hot water and tea this morning for our staff, we have done this previously and been charged $12.00 for hot water and 10 tea bags. Today we were told that it would cost $30.00, when we asked why so much for hot water and tea bags we were told that we were given cups/lids as well. The person waiting on us called us rude, though I can assure you all we did was question why the price difference, then told us never to come back, and literally shut the door in our face, we had to shove the money under the closed door. Our business employs 20 staff members and service 120 families, and I can assure you we will NEVER be back! And I personally will tell everyone I know about our horrible experience here. read more
