Never, have I ever evoked the Lord's name in a review, but with God as my witness this is a human chop shop! They herd you in and out like cattle. You are treated more like a commodity than a person. My physician, Dr. Rhodes, never seemed to put on a blue procedure gown. He kept on his well pressed plaid shirt. And as the iv liquid burned my veins horribly I cried in pain, and one of the nurses shushed me with a blue gloved finger over my mouth. I understand the business model in which they want you "in" and "out". But there is a human being in this work and the humanity seems stripped when the process is [this] rushed. I see others with five star reviews... So I can't help but ask what is different about me? Why didn't I deserve five-star treatment? They process you and rush you out the door. In my case long before I was fully coherent. After my procedure they were rushing me to get up (a nurse told me to go home) getting dressed, my legs literally crumpled under me. I hit the floor and hard! My husband had to call staff to help collect me off the floor. They get 1.5 stars because the place seemed clean, and the intake staff and procedure were both positive and efficient.

We checked into Gateway Surgery Center for my sisters surgery on her arm and my how things have changed! In the past it was a clean, friendly, welcoming place! Well someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed because at 8am this location was unkept and the staff seemed as if they had a weekend hangover! No smiles, no coffee, just ushering patients in and out! They seemed to have an attitude because my sister didn't answer the pager she was given; once the nurse who came to find her looked at the pager she realized that she had a different pager number than the one they had written down for her! I'm a little disappointed because Gateway Surgery Center is usually better than this! The waiting area is usually cozy and well maintained. There are paintings all around and televisions to occupy you while you wait! Upon checking out you're assigned a nurse to bring you to your car, my sisters nurse was Anna and she was very sweet! She got her comfortably seated in the car, gave a few last minute instructions and even put her seatbelt on!

And if you…read moreunderstand the trauma of a possible breast cancer diagnosis the procedure of getting tested can be even more daunting, but still of the greatest importance. It is absolutely fabulous to have healthcare partners like the staff and the warm, friendly volunteers here. The staff here at the Breast Health Center administered care, great consideration, courtesy and professionalism. Every person I dealt with had a pleasant disposition and handled my health information as well as the actual procedure with the sensitivity it deserved. I was in and out quickly and my visit was as pleasant as possible. As a nice touch, the individual room where patients prepare for imaging was staged like a dressing room with a personal table and softer lighting. The table had an information center complete with pamphlets, educational resource sheets and as a nice touch, a guest/patient sign in book and pen to share messages of inspiration, gratitude or thoughts for patients or staff. This was an excellent modern example of humanizing, clinical care. I am happy to have experienced it, and blessed to have been in such good hands.

The workers working the check-in area were having a great time uproarious laughing and carrying on. One elderly patient asked a question and was answered in somewhat of a condescending tone. Whilst the 3 members of the staff were yucking it up and talking about BBQ and corn on the cob my established checking in time came and went. Albeit it was 5 five minutes. This type of behavior is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable in this health setting. I can promise you coming for a mammogram is one of my least favorite things to do. However, I understand the importance of it.

I drove much too fast getting my sister to her doctors appointment on time. Cancellations are rare…read moreand each appointment is done far enough in advance that you too would make every effort never to miss an appointment. I suppose its like getting an audience with the Queen, or better yet Beyonce, or getting to meet the pope and kiss his ring. I am a stickler for punctuality... So yes we were on time, for the pleasure of then waiting for 30 minutes. Parking is plentiful and all spots lead to a circular driveway, and a nice little building where every floor is decorated like a hotel. The lobby has a nice little pharmacy for convenience. The physicians and staff work hard to provide their patients with professional, personalized care. Patients are happy, and I am told that this is a good practice. The waiting room... And wait, you will! Is very streamlined, and uncluttered. The only reading material which is displayed outside of health related literature is the Good Book. If you're not interested in reading that, in the corner almost hidden are some magazines. The big screen monitor in the corner area of the waiting room features really interesting programs on a variety of health related topics. This little nicety earned them additional kudos... It was a hot day and I was grateful to see a cooler of cold water and cups to quench my hot summer, North Carolina afternoon thirst. Now a word about the restrooms. They are clean enough, but they could smell better. On the day I was there, the hand soap was running quite low. They also have a fairly large elderly patient base, it's not the worse idea to have more bathrooms available for patrons.

Let's face it. This it is the emergency room... No one is exactly happy to be here…read more In the center of the emergency room entrance is a helicopter and a launch pad. I've got to admit, I was impressed. This chopper stationed outside of the facility gives the impression that they [mean] serious life-saving business. I have found myself in emergencies room all over the globe, for one reason or another. And as far as this one is concerned it could be worse. When you're here with loved one(s) or for yourself, it is nice to have a team that tries their best to soften the sudden impact of unexpected medical intervention. To that end upon entering, there is a kiosk which visitors can arm themselves with earloop face masks for both adults and children for bacterial filtration to offer some sense of protection. Also, there is sanitation hand gel and tissues for sniffles or God forbid, tears... Germs [will] be spread in hospital settings. That is a fact, but it's nice to know that every precaution is offered for patient/patron peace of mind. There are big screen televisions that broadcast local channels and news. Other monitors with useful health information. I saw some folks with those hospital blankets to keep them warm. They also have a centralized telephone charging station. Not that any of them worked though. None of the plugs would charge mine or anyone else's iPhone, but the thought is considerate and appreciated. If only there was adequate follow through. This is the only hospital in Concord, North Carolina. They are serving a huge population! Each time I've been here they have been crowded, with scant sitting room and excessive wait time. The main issue I have with this place is the fact that they are slow. Having said that, I still must give them a fair rating because they stop people from dying on a daily basis, and if that isn't worth a decent three stars then what is? You can see that this team works to make the best of one horrible situation after another. Patients are vulnerable it's intimidating. I am sure it's a high stakes balancing act that I can't begin to comprehend, but I still dare to wonder if there aren't better solutions to dealing with persistent overcrowding. Recently, I was there with someone suffering from severe chest pains. They still waited approximately 90 minutes to be seen. We had to wait and watch as the color drained from our loved ones face as he shifted in agony laboring to breathe. He was eventually seen and admitted right away, but in most emergency rooms chest pains are taken more seriously... Unfortunately, not here.
