VERY RUDE OF THE WAITRESS & POOR QUALITY OF FOODS. DO NOT WASTE THE $$$ TO EAT HERE!!!!!…read more Oct 12, 2025 - I ordered the battered fish and chips from the lunch menu; my friends and I agreed that the portion of the fillet is very small and quite fishy (not fresh); about my own order, I substituted the chips with "vegetable" but the restaurant was only gave the carrots. At $25.99 plus tips and taxes so it costs over $30 it's overpriced for junk foods The services were terrible as one of the waitress, the chubby one was very rude when I told her that she messed up my order. It's no apology for the mistakes she made and yelled at me for not paying attention when I ordered my foods. It seems she was trying to excuse the situation she caused. Meanwhile, this waitress was questioning me in front of other customers and very confrontational. I addressed my concerns to her it's UNACCEPTABLE ATTITUDE to the customers. The owner should not hire this type of people as the front end worker. I did report the situation to another person who was working at the cashier area. I hope the owner should investigate this situation at least .... AWFUL EXPERIENCE I NEVER EVEN HAD

The dishes were simple yet high quality. This was such a whimsical and charming restaurant, with a beautiful garden and lots of artwork…read morecreated by the owners themselves. While we were dining, we were invited to explore the restaurant and the small gallery in the back, where they displayed paintings, cards, and postcards for sale. It gave the restaurant a very personal and creative atmosphere. The service was also warm and friendly. Since there are not many seats available, I would strongly recommend making a reservation. The Pollinator's Salad was fresh and light, with a dried herb vinaigrette and a generous amount of bee pollen. Since the menu mentioned edible flowers and foraged herbs, I was hoping to see more of those incorporated into the salad. I think they would have added more colour and made the dish feel even more special. The halloumi was soft while still having that satisfying squeaky texture. The maple syrup added a lovely sweetness, while the walnuts provided a nice crunch that complemented the softer cheese. The pan-fried trout was cooked very well. The lemon butter and capers added a nice combination of saltiness and citrus that paired well with the fish and wild rice. I would have loved to see a greater variety of seasonal vegetables alongside it. The zucchini also could have used more seasoning, as the accompanying red tomato sauce was quite bland. The handmade pasta had a flavourful sauce and a nice texture, although I felt the overall dish needed just a touch more seasoning to bring everything together. Unfortunately, the steak was the biggest disappointment of the meal. I wish a different cut had been used or that the steak had been prepared in a way that made it more tender. It was extremely tough and chewy--to the point that it was difficult to cut with a knife or even pierce with a fork. The steak and zucchini could also have used more seasoning. For a steak dish with mushrooms that cost a little over $40, we expected the meat to be tender and enjoyable, so this was the one dish I definitely would not order again. The desserts were enjoyable, and I appreciated the effort to showcase Ontario produce, particularly the wild apples in the pudding and Ontario peaches with the angel food cake. That commitment to incorporating local ingredients was one of the things I appreciated most about the menu. Overall, I have mixed feelings about the food. I really appreciate the restaurant's commitment to local produce and farm-to-table dining, and there were several dishes we enjoyed, particularly the salad, trout, halloumi, and desserts. At the same time, there were noticeable inconsistencies in seasoning and execution, with the steak being the biggest disappointment. Perhaps the intention is to keep the preparation simple so the local ingredients can shine, which I can appreciate. However, I think seasoning would actually help bring out those natural flavours rather than overpower them. I am also curious to see how the restaurant develops its identity over time, as the art and gallery experience currently feel almost as prominent as the food itself. We really want to support local restaurants, local Ontario produce, and the owners' creative farm-to-table vision. There is something very unique and special about what they are trying to create here. With some refinement and greater consistency in the food, I think the restaurant has the potential to make the dining experience just as memorable as its beautiful and whimsical setting.

The hosts at Twin Peaks, our B&B for our visit, recommended Elliot's for dinner, and we're very…read moreglad that they did. Like so many places on Manitoulin Island Elliot's is casual and unpretentious, but it serves really good food at very reasonable prices. When we arrived the patio was quite busy, but our hosts were very accommodating and friendly as they let us choose from the available tables. They were very prompt to come by and explain the specials and answer questions. As we perused the menu we were a bit disappointed that we couldn't order a cider (neither of us drink beer), but that disappointment evaporated instantly when our server brought the Wednesday wine special to our attention - $15/bottle (!) for a pretty decent Argentinian table wine. On to the food. Appetizer: We shared a Bacon Jam, Goat Cheese and Baguette plate and, as promised by our server, it was a generous serving that satisfied the two of us. More importantly, it was just really good food. The cheese was delicious, and the bacon jam was off-the-charts! They also served enough bread for our dish, which seems oddly rare at many restaurants. Mains: We had already decided that the Hawburger just had to happen. Elliot's version of a classic PB&J burger is made special by the addition of Hawberry Jelly (a Manitoulin Island original). The inclusion of pickled jalapeño peppers also provides a fabulous accent to the creamy saltiness of the peanut butter and the tangy sweet of the Hawberry Jelly. This was a really, really good burger. For our other main we chose the grilled pickerel and it did not disappoint. The fish was cooked to perfection and there was certainly no need to use the tartar sauce provided to add flavour. The fries were cooked well, though as is the style on the island they were not done in crispy twice-fried style. We think the type of potato they use might be giving them a bit of an unusual texture. In this case the fries were certainly enhanced by dipping them in the side of very nicely executed gravy that we ordered. Desserts: We chose a piece of warm, in-house made apple pie (so yummy) and a Bailey's cheesecake. While the cheesecake was OK, we definitely would have been happier with two pieces of that mouth-watering pie! Price: The meal came to $100 (including wine, taxes and tip), a very fair price for the quality of the food and service. We can definitely recommend Elliot's and will return on our next visit to Manitoulin Island.
