We had an excellent experience with Gateway, but most especially with our agent, Carrie! It was our first time visiting Mesa Verde, Durango and Silverton. Carrie was so patient answering all my questions and guiding us to the perfect vacation experience! Her suggestions and recommendations were spot on. First we stayed in a Kiva at the Far View Lodge located inside the Mesa Verde National Park. We had booked the "700 Years Tour for the following morning. Our tour guide was well informed and very personable. As a part of the tour, a park ranger takes you down into the cliff dwellings. Although my husband and I did not venture down, our daughter did and said it was a fantastic experience to see the cliff dwellings up close(thankfully, she took a lot of pictures for us - haha). That afternoon we made our way to Durango and stayed in the iconic and historic Strater Hotel. What a gorgeous piece of history! The next morning we headed over to Durango Rivertrippers for a fun-filled rafting experience. I wish we had booked the 4 hour instead of the 2 hour it was so much fun! From there we were bussed up to Silverton for a quick lunch. We took the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad for a gorgeous ride along the river back to Durango. We highly recommend upgrading to "First Class" or higher. We had a wonderful car attendant, plentiful drinks and snacks along the route. We arrived into Durango and spent another night at the Strater Hotel. I have worked as a travel consultant in my past and I am very particular when booking my travel arrangements. The wealth of information and attention to detail from Carrie was well above my expectations. We are just back from our weekend trip to Glenwood. We loved every moment of it. We lucked out with the weather. While Denver was cold and rainy we enjoyed temperatures in the low 80s Iron Mountain Hot Springs are just wonderful and Smoke was a really good recommendation for dinner. Last year we came to Durango Colorado with no reservations. Gateway Reservations made reservations at a hotel. Best Western was a great place to stay. Arrangements were made for a bus ride to Silverton and the train ride back to Durango. Overall a wonderful stay in Durango due to Gateway Reservations read more
