They have flights, so you can sample before you buy a bottle. There are snacks like cheese, nuts and meat, to purchase in a cooler if you are hungry. There are also plenty of beverage choices if you do not wish to have wine, and milk and juice for kiddos if you are visiting with your family. I have always felt comfortable walking in with my kids. We often stopped here on our way from Indianapolis to St. Louis and stretched our legs. It is also close to a beautiful covered bridge, so i t makes pulling off the interstate a nice experience to pair the winery and bridge together. I feel like the wines are a combination of excellent flavor and yet affordable for yourself or as a gift. This year they has a wine called "Let it Snow" with edible glitter that made a beautiful swirl.

We celebrated St Patty's at the winery, a murder mystery dinner and some wine, finally selecting a bottle each of the sparkling wines to compliment our catered meal. The place was full and the mystery was deliteful! Next one is May 4th. Seriously consider attending. Beautiful building, nice great room with big fireplace, high walls of wood and very nice landscaped patio, lake and outside sitting area. Warning: the patio is a smoking area and that ruined it for others. They have a nice selection of wines - mostly sweet, all under $20 a bottle. The Minuet had an off taste to our group and that was the only disappointment of the evening. All had good flavor and a nice finish, and you could not go wrong with any selection (except for us the Minuet). My ONLY negative, the acoustics are awful, the beautiful hall is like a big gym and the acoustics are terrible. A loud table of boisterous folks on the far side/end of the room might as well be sitting at your table. Table conversation is very hard to conduct, Something should be done about the reducing the ambient noise level. Don't hide the beautiful finished walls, but banners, a sound curtains along the ceiling line, something please. A common complaint among the guests. I asked a couple of others, ditto. I liked the wines and the evening and that is why we will return for the friday night music and a nice afternoon motorcycle ride/picnic . And the murder mystery dinner.

Upon entry, a couple staff members greeted and oriented us, we opened a tab, ordered, and took a seat on the patio. Food choices: Spinach artichoke dip, lobster nachos, outlaw grilled cheese on a gluten-free bun. Somewhere along the way, Therese H. enjoyed a peach slushie, too. Wine tasting: Each sample was served in a wine glass, glasses brought to us in a lovely metal flight server. We tried what we thought we might like, and, as expected, several were quite pleasant. To our taste, the best sample that day was the Cabernet Franc, so we purchased a bottle for home.
