Absolutely loved my lunch. This small restaurant has the best Indian food I have tasted in San…read moreAntonio. The flavors were richer and authentic. The service was helpful. The milk tea was flavorful. We tried the Gobi majestic for an appetizer. The sauce was peppery and thick. Then we had family style Butter chicken and SaaS Aloo Paneer (spinach with spices and cheese).

Even though Spring Branch is not known for its Indian population or cuisine, we decided to give the…read moreTaj Mahal a try. After visiting the actual wonder of the world up close, when this famous name is mentioned, our expectations go way up. The food is good, fairly authentic in preparation, but does not actually leave me stunned like seeing the ivory white marble mausoleum sparkling in the sunrise for the first time. My go to Indian dish is the butter chicken and wifey loves ordering the Tandoori chicken, which we both did. Add a side of garlic Nan & basmati rice as a complement to the main course. Overall, we were pleased with the taste, although I should have gone up one spice level to perhaps get that combination of burn and flavor that I crave. The 65 chicken as an appetizer was ok, but we tend to like this dish deep fried & crispy, instead of baked. The restaurant is in a shopping center and shares space with the Thai Orchard business, as the same owner runs both restaurants. The inside dining is comfortable enough. The staff kept our drinks filled, which is always a plus to me. It was also nice that the drink selection included iced tea and fountain drinks, as us southerns desire and not typically offered in Indian restaurants.

I've been going here for years, and love it. Growing up in a part of Houston that had the best…read moreIndian restaurants, I missed good food when moved to San Antonio. When the Lion Pub opened, I didn't have high expectation but they didn't disappoint! It's good, it's consistent, the take out is timely, and the in-restaurant mixed drinks are on point.

Had a Saturday night craving for Indian cuisine and Lion Indian was our choice. It has been a few…read moreyears back when we visited India, but the food is usually not a distant memory. The dinner options were either a buffet, or order straight from the menu. Since the buffet was only $15 per person and included some items we wanted to have anyways, we chose the buffet. The choices were limited in number, but enough for us. Buffet included some traditional entrees like Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Masala and several different kinds of Curry dishes. The rice and nan complimented the dish. Wifey enjoyed her meal and felt like the spice level was good enough, but I wanted something a bit more spicy. If my taste buds don't burn a little, then I feel like it is too Americanized. I understand that a buffet is prepared for the average person, but since San Antonio is already known for spicy foods, then a dish or two of a higher heat level would suffice for me. The restaurant is tucked away in a shopping center and it not real visible from the street so luckily Yelp got us here. It is however, close to Loop 1604, so it is an easy drive after exiting. Waitstaff is friendly and on point so it made the small, but comfortable indoor dining a pleasant experience. We will most likely return and fill our craving here and don't forget to have the Mango Lassi, as it was a nice way of finishing your dinner.
