And this Barrel Room Tasting experience, on the very first wine expedition I've ever hosted, stole the show. The price? Unheard of. An amazing deal. We were welcomed with sparkling wine when we arrived, then whisked away to their private cellar room, where all the small bites we'd be trying with each wine were already laid out. Our sommelier for the day was incredibly knowledgeable and kind, and he was great at teaching us about wine and the art of pairing. If you're looking for a unique wine experience in STL, you should absolutely visit.

Unfortunately the flies were very worsom especially when trying to eat. That didn't stop us from having a good time though. Staff was very catering and attentive. I ordered a caesar salad with salmon which was cooked very well. The food was delicious as well as the wine. I ordered the wine flight with 3 pours. I will definitely return especially in the fall to see the beautiful colors.

They were one of the first stores around to place Plexiglas shields at the registers, mark 6 ft spots near the registers, offer hand sanitizer, host a senior hour and time for those with compromised immune systems, and promote mask wearing. One amazing option Schnucks offers shoppers since March of 2020 is to order groceries through Instacart (with no Instacart Fee) for drive up pick up. There are designated spots right outside the store for these orders. While the shopper is filling the order you can chat in the App and request other items. The Schnucks employees bring your order out to your car wearing a mask and place it in the trunk. The fresh produce and other grocery items I have gotten here all have been excellent quality. I shop at Schnucks much more frequently now. The Woods Mill Road Store employees are outstanding. I will return soon.

I ordered a week out and sent my order via email. Within an hour or so, I received a confirmation. It was scheduled. As Friday approached, I reached out to make sure we were still on. Almost immediately, I received confirmation that we were good. Friday arrived along with a family crisis. It was hard for me to stay focused. Right before the first break at 10 something, I was freaking out that lunch hadn't arrived. That I had set it up at the wrong time. So I immediately emailed Best Box Lunches and asked if they could bring the lunches sooner. Keep in mind that I had ordered 75 lunches, so I was really asking a lot. I immediately received a response stating that they would try. That's all I needed to hear. We weren't creating a cure for cancer. If the lunch was late, it would be fine. My family crisis got more intense, but I wasn't freaking out about lunch now. It's amazing what a simple, QUICK email reply can do for a person. When the lunches arrived, they were perfect. They looked like you hadn't been rushed and that you had all day to make them. The bottom line is that I TOTALLY recommend them and will continue to use Best Box Lunches whenever I can. This year for my birthday my wife planned a weekend away for us. We dropped our kids off at their…read moregrandparents and then headed out. We wanted to get out of the city so headed 45 minutes west to the edges of St. Charles County. We stayed at an amazing AirBnB (Red Mule Ranch) and then decided to go to Cedar Lake Cellars. There are a ton of wineries in the St. Louis and Southern Illinois area. I've been to a lot of them, but had never been to Cedar Lake Cellars. It is a well known winery and event space just west of St. Louis. There are two main options for when you go. The Barrell Room is a large barn that has a mixture of beer, wine, and mixed drinks. This is the more casual of the two areas. There are large tables inside, and then an open patio area. The Barrell room doesn't have food itself, but just outside is a BBQ stand that also caters to patrons sitting outside. This is where my wife and I sat for about an hour or so before dinner. It had a lot of bachelor parties and larger groups. This area also has live music on the weekends. The second main place to eat and drink (skipping over the outdoor BBQ area) is the restaurant and tasting room. This is more of a formal dining room. The menu was modest but had a mixture of steaks, sandwiches, soups, and appetizers. The prices were very reasonable, and we very much enjoyed our food. The service was good, although maybe a bit overworked, and overall we had zero complaints. I got prime rib with two sides for around $35 which is a great deal. I was actually surprised at how reasonable the prices were. It just makes it that much easier to order a couple glasses of wine. Beyond the two main indoor/outdoor eating areas there are a number of other wedding venues on the property. There is also an stage and the venue hosts outdoor concerts. When we were there this aspect of the property wasn't being used. The overall property felt immense. It is a shame as it definitely felt like the winery could have a lot more people there than we saw, there were probably 75 tables/benches (or more) outside and only a handful had people. It could be that the heat was keeping people away, or just that wineries are declining in popularity from their peak a few years ago. Either way, we had a great time.
