Actiontoyman is a special kind of place. I spent two months working one day a week in Erie and was…read morelucky enough to discover this store during that time. This store is absolutely stacked with vintage collectibles ranging from Gundam Wing, Star Wars, Transformers, Toy Story, WWE, Dragonball Z, Sports Collectibles, Batman, Superman, and everything in between. The ground level is full of classic toys and even features a full blown comic room in the back while downstairs is the "discount" section offering a ton of toys below $8. Upstairs had a full game room along with a ton of other collectible toys as well. Not only was it a blast coming to ActionToyMan but the staff was super friendly and willing to answer any questions that I had throughout my visit. Although my trips to Erie might be done, I will 100% be returning in the future to check this store out again. If you live even remotely close to Erie you owe it to yourself to come and check this place out, but hey, don't take my work for it, check out Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkin's visiting this store on YouTube.

My husband had 8 collectables at Action Toyman that hadn't sold in a long time. He decided to go…read morepick them up because they hadn't sold thus far and probably weren't in this pandemic economy. He called 3 weeks in a row to ask the owner to gather his unsold things. The first week the owner "wasn't there", the second week "he was out sick", and the third week my husband said he was coming to get his collectibles. Today he went to the store, the owner accused him of harassment, said my husband called his store "$hitty"(he did not), and then told him that he had already sold and paid my husband for his missing collectibles (he couldn't produce any proof that he had paid my husband for anything) Do not take your collectables here to sell. The guy is a liar. And I read through the other reviews and alot of people think he's rude too.

Do I want three months of magazine subscriptions? Are ya kidding? This crap took almost 5minutes after my purchase. When I said no to the (free, yeah right) magazines the cashier rebutted me more than once! WHAT THE ****???!!! SERIOUSLY???!! Let me make my purchase and leave. They won't hit the transaction button to let you card go through until you've heard a dozen sales pitches! The location would have merely walked away with the three star stamp of mediocrity for that. What particularly put me off was the door greeter/staff-member-who-was-otherwise-messing-around-in-the-cart-corral-by-the-door. I walked in, was said "hello" to very stonily which I otherwise ignored because I don't expect anyone in that job to be in a very good mood, then I walk almost halfway down the length of the store as I look around, getting a feel for the layout as I had never been in here before. Then I hear this idiot SHOUT (because I am again quite a ways away from the door at this point), "Can I help you find anything?" In other words, the dreaded, "Are you going to steal something because you aren't white?" One might generously detract that maybe he decided to scream because I looked lost, but his unfriendly manner throughout the exchange and the fact that I did not see (or more pertinently hear) him accost anyone else who entered in such a gross fashion leads me to believe it probably wasn't. So for that, one star and the recommendation you not support this decrepit outlet.

That's not necessarily meant as a…read morebad thing, I just can't think of anything that really stands out about it to be able to place it above any other gaming store in the area. The service is usually nothing special tbh, not great nor terrible really, just sort of neutral ‍ They have a pretty decent MTG card selection and fair market pricing on singles, but their trade-in % is sorta pathetic in my opinion, and you likely get more money or store credits if you take your trade-ins to Gateway Games instead! ALSO Recently, my fiancé and I drove across town in a blizzard (took about 30 minutes or so, a good amount of the gas in our vehicle, and a lot of anxiety from the slick road conditions and snow showers) to trade-in some MTG cards for CASH because their website states something along the lines of, "We're ALWAYS purchasing trading cards for CASH or STORE CREDIT!" But we were told upon arriving that they did not actually pay out cash for cards any longer, meaning we wasted the entire trip out there as we needed actual cash money to get groceries and such...So hopefully they update their website soon!
