Trip Review : Comics and Friends - Great Lakes Mall - Mentor Ohio…read more Extremely efficient. A great description of this shop. John has everything organized so they use all the space. The new comics are displayed display well at the back of the store surrounded by the more recent books and then the nice selection of back issues. The area around the counter has the cool collectibles, some statues and other goodies. I like the old collectible comic related drinking glasses. Then you resurface into the shelving of Manga, graphic novels, toys and Funkos. Up front there are some display cases full of older collectible comics and a rack of t-shirts. Check out the pics. I was talking to one of the employees and they said that they have six local writers/artists/creators coming in for free comic book day this Saturday and John will have his convention stock broken out and set up. His convention stock is amazing for silver age and golden age and key comics ! Be sure to stop out to the mall and say hi to John and his crew and thank ls to Comics and Friends again for all the support for Neo ComicCon

But I really did want this, as they are fairly rare to come across in person. I would have been willing to pay $50 a box, but the employee told me there was absolutely no wiggle room. But if it goes down, they wont change their sticker price and are unwilling to accommodate. They would rather (maybe eventually) scam their own customers.

Adam's Action Figures & Comics ( Adam Sabol ) in Rootstown, Ohio…read more Located right off Route 76 and Route 14 in Rootstown, Ohio, Adam's Action Figures is one of those magical places that looks modest from the outside, but once you walk in, it's like stepping into a wonderland of toys, comics, and nostalgia. This shop has something for everyone. I've had the pleasure of watching this shop grow from the very beginning. In fact, I was Adam Sabol's first customer when he opened, and my dollar bill still hangs on the wall to this day. It's been amazing to watch how far the shop has come -- it's a full-blown collector's paradise. Every inch of the store is filled with something cool -- from carefully displayed, carded figures lining the walls to bins and bags of treasure waiting to be dug through. The chaos is part of the charm, and yet somehow everything feels just right. If you're into DC, Marvel, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, G.I. Joe, Star Wars, or pretty much any toy line that ever meant something, odds are you'll find it here. Adam himself is one of the best parts of the experience. He's incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the hobby, always down to chat about comics, toys, or the state of the industry. He gets new comics in weekly and is constantly updating his stock with fresh CGC-graded books and recent collections -- so the inventory is always evolving. Beyond toys and comics, the shop also carries nostalgic items like t-shirts, lunchboxes, comic supplies, and more. Whether you're coming from Akron or making a stop on your way to Youngstown, it's absolutely worth the detour. Adam is also a fixture on the convention circuit and someone we always look forward to seeing at NEO ComicCon. Be sure to swing by the shop on May 3rd for Free Comic Book Day -- it's a perfect time to experience everything the shop has to offer. @neocomiccon @adamsactionfiguresandcomics In short, Adam's Action Figures isn't just a store -- it's an experience, and one that keeps getting better every time you visit.

Trip Review #30 - Rubber City Comics Rubber City Comics -…read moreA Main- Stay Downtown Akron Located right across from the John S. Knight Convention Center in downtown Akron, Rubber City Comics is a must-visit for comic book fans. Formerly known as The Newsstand at Quaker Square, the shop is now celebrating an incredible 50 years of serving the community. I had the pleasure of chatting with Camryn, who was super friendly and knowledgeable. She told me all about their new comic book arrivals every Wednesday and their huge Funko Pop selection--perfect for collectors! The store also has an impressive range of back issues, supplies, toys, and graphic novels, so if you're hunting for a rare find or just browsing, there's something for you. In addition to celebrating their milestone anniversary, they're hosting a big sale and giving away free comics for Free Comic Book Day--happening tomorrow! Some items will be discounted up to 50% off, so it's the perfect time to stop by and support a longtime local favorite. Don't miss it. Tell them NEO ComicCon sent you. I've never felt strongly enough about a business to leave a Yelp Review, so allow that to be the…read morefirst indicator of the quality of the Rubber City Comics store. Having just moved here from NY, and specifically, rural, backwoods New York, I was floored to find that there was a comic book store near me. Upon my first entry, I found the entirety of the Watchmen comic series via DC Compact for $10, and I couldn't believe it. I bought it, read it cover to cover, and came back the next day. This was about a month ago, maybe a little longer now, and I've been back several times since. In fact, it's actually become a bit of a routine. Located less than half a mile from the UA campus, it's very convenient for me to walk on down during my breaks between classes. Even when it's not necessarily, "convenient" for me to come in, they've incentivized me to take the walk during weekends with their $1 Independent Sales, an absolutely absurd value for anybody, like me, who spends the majority of their comic-reading time with publishers beyond Marvel and DC. So far, I've met about three of the resident staff members, and haven't a harsh word about any of them. They are all kind, well-informed and decent people who never fail to help their patrons find what they're looking for, or offer interest-based recommendations to those who are unsure of their next read. All in all, Rubber City Comics is a wonderful shop. I cannot recommend giving them your business enough, especially as we enter an increasingly digital era of shopping and marketing. Support your local brick-and-mortar stores, and be sure to support this one as well, they absolutely deserve it.

After driving about 20 minutes to the store, the owner suddenly changed the price to $120 per box. When I mentioned that I had been quoted $100, I was told, "That's not my problem. The guy on the phone is new. It happens every day." If pricing mistakes like that really happen every day, it's hard to understand how the business continues to operate that way. Customers shouldn't be expected to waste time and gas because employees aren't given accurate pricing information. The experience was made worse by the rude attitude. During my phone call, the employee even told me what the store had paid for the boxes, and once I arrived, the owner gave a different explanation about the pricing. The whole interaction felt dishonest and unprofessional. On top of that, many of the cards and packs were already priced higher than other local stores and online retailers. Based on my experience, I won't be returning and can't recommend Comic Heaven to other collectors. Zero stars !
