Peter's Brauhaus is often described as a beer hall, but it is so much more than that. Once we entered, we were ushered into the bar, so that we could drink a local beer while we waited for a table. This gave us time to also take in the rustic wood construction of the interior, and enjoy the delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen. Seating is family style, but they also have a few tables for two. The food is hearty traditional German fare, you won't need a second meal that day. This is certainly a must do in Koln, to have an authentic meal in a historic brauhaus.

Kolsch was served on a small tall glass (probably 7-8 ounces). The server would keep pouring more to refill your glass when you finish. If you don't want a refill, be sure to cover it up with a coaster. That would signal the server that you don't want anymore beer. We ordered their lunch special for the day which was pork ribs served with a choice of potatoes or fava beans. We had the fava beans. The ribs had a good flavor. The ribs on my plate were a bit dry but the ribs on my husband's plate were not as dry. I liked the fava beans. I enjoyed Kolsch. I would come back for the beer.

I got the best and first schnitzel of my life and I'm not being dramatic when I say it was a complete game changer. Crispy as you like with that creamy peppercorn gravy poured over top. Ended up drinking about thirty throughout the day while walking around the city like a legend. Started early and never let off the gas. This meal brought me back to life.
