Since we had a lot planned during our wine trip in "Die Pfalz" we were looking for dinner places…read morerather late which cancelled most of our dinner options in Deidesheim already. Before we gave up we called the "Deidesheimer Stuben" to ask whether they would still be able to cook rumpsteak for us since we were told it is a delicacy in the Pfalz just a few hours earlier. Everything worked out and we went to this restaurant. When you walk in it has that nice old and "proper German" feel to it as all of the places we visited in this area. :-) Let's get to the main part - the food. Everything we tried was FANTASTIC! Whether it was the potato soup or the "Schnitzel with Spargel" (Schnitzel with Asparagus), it was all great food. I have to highlight my two favorites of that dinner. We weren't sure what to expect from the "Vorspeisevariationen" platter but we were blown away by the look and taste of this menu item. BRILLANT! And just when you thought it could not be any better, we received the Rumpsteak. Mine was cooked to perfection with delicious sauteed onions and herbal butter on top. As a side I had "Bratkartoffeln" which were very good as well. Food that good with the kind of (perfect) service we were exposed to makes me want to go there every night... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :-)

Hier, in der Gerberstraße feierten vor über 100 Jahren die Fürsten zu Leiningen ihren erfolgreichen Jagdausgang. Später dann, als der Pfälzer Hochadel 1794 von Kaiser Napoleon Bonaparte vertrieben war, richteten die Bad Dürkheimer im Jagdhaus eine Weinstube ein. den genuss im gedächtnis. angelangt bei der pforte zum traditionshaus bach - mayer fällt eindrucksvoll das rokoko portal aus dem 18. jahrhundert ins auge. Im Inneren des Anwesens begleitet den Gast leuchtender Kerzenschein auf seinem Weg. In der Stube selbst ist es gelungen Bänke und Tische aus der Anfangszeit zu erhalten, sie strahlen all ihre stilvolle Würde aus. I told them about a food allergy I have. They responded by offering me the salad I wanted to order and made the dressing without mustard seed. It also says something about the quality there that they didn't bat an eyelash at making me a special dressing. For dinner I ordered the pasta with parmesan and truffles. It was delicious. The rest of the party had an assortment of steak/duck/pork and this was the first time my family didn't offer to share with me. They each cleaned their plates before i could even steal a bite!!! :-( We had one dessert we didn't love but the chocolate mousse was very nice.
