But after 5 minutes of waiting for my dinner to show up, I inquired about its status. Another 5 minutes later and after my three fellow diners had finished eating, the waitress tells me "the chef has no record of my order but he would try to make it for me.". Yeah. Just what I want. To wait another 15 minutes while the chef half asses my entrée and my other diners watch me eat. At the end if the meal, they came out to try and "prove" on their iPad that I didn't order my entrée. "It's not in my iPad". Of course it's not. You didn't put it in! Or maybe you took it off after you goofed up? Either way, I'm left to feel as if it's my fault. No apology. How irritating. I really started to love this place. Nothing like a massive screw up to sour one's opinion. Just can't recommend this place.

We stayed at the Halber Mond for 3 nights (it's part hotel, restaurant, brewery) and highly recommend. Our room was a family suite, which required 67 steps to top floor (no elevator to this room) but the climb was worth it -- we had beautiful views of the village and Starkenburg castle, one of the medieval castles along the Bergstrasse. Rooms were clean, large, well-maintained and comfortable. Breakfast was typical for Germany, a generous selections of eggs, juices, cereals, fruits, meats, etc. Didn't eat in the restaurant but did spend one evening in their biergarten, enjoying bratwurst, wienerschnitzel, and their excellent beer.
