Dr Wilmot appears to be an intelligent, respected, and effective doctor at what he does. I suppose there must be a balance somewhere and unfortunately that downside is that his communication, people, and empathy skills are sub par. I took my mother in for a visit and during the 45 second exit conversation he had with us, he came across as defensive and emotionless. You might think, "I don't really care how he acts so long as he medically attends to my issue". And for some I'm sure that's fine. Clearly it is given his locations reviews.. but for me, the personal touch is also important and he completely lacked this skill. I don't recommend entrusting your care to him if the human connection is even slightly important to you. If AI ever creeps into the medical field, Dr Wilmot might need a new profession. Luckily, ai machines appear to have more warmth than mr Wilmot. read more

It's a bit of a process to make a appointment. There are several gastroenterologists in the group. When you call, you get an answering service that asks to you select which doctor's secretary you want to talk to. So right off, it appears as if they assume you are looking for a specific doctor, not trying to get initial help from one that's available. when you press a number corresponding to one of the secretaries and, instead of talking to a secretary, you get another recorded message telling you to leave a message and they will contact you within 24 hours. I didn't have a specific doctor in mind, so I left a message with one of them. They did call be back within 24 hours and the secretary was polite and helpful. I was able to work out an arrangement for an appointment. read more

It was finally time for my first colonoscopy, ugh is anyone excited to do this? I definitely was not! My experience could not have gone any better... from the moment I walked in the door the receptionist was super welcoming and pleasant. I was scheduled to arrive at 3:30 and didn't have to wait at all.. I was immediately taken in the back area. My pre prep work was done my Brianna, a lovely young woman that put me at ease, explained every aspect of the process. Gave me my IV and prepped me for the procedure. It didn't take long before they brought me into the procedure room. I met Dr. Sharam who was amazing along with Moe, Joey and Shelly that helped out. I never felt a thing, I was somewhat awake but really not remember anything. It only took about 15 mins. My recovery nurse Nicole was super friendly and made sure to get me a drink and stayed with me as I fully woke up. Happy to say no issues or polyps so I'm good for years! read more

Well folks, my time rolled around again for Colonoscopy checkup, the 5 year mark. So today, 02/05/2019, I arrived at Dr. Shamir's office. From the moment I arrived, the front desk girls immediately got me processed with a smile. After a brief few minute wait, I was ushered into the prep room. The girls went through the formalities, my change of cloths, blood pressure and oxygen check, additional paperwork etc.. Then there was a brief wait, they were busy, and then Lisa Dr.Sharma's RN came in and got me ready for the anesthesia. Moments later her and an assistant wheeled me into the Dr's room. Dr. Sharma greeted me in a nice way, we talked a bit and then he got things rolling. I stated to him that if there were any problems, please address them right away, he agreed. He also had some other assistants in there, in training I believe, nice people. My procedure was a total success!!! No problems. At the end of it all when I was in recovery, Dr. Sharma came by my room and said everything was good. :) Him, and his entire staff are great people, true professionals! As you can see from the ratings he results have been mixed. Mine will add to the negative ones. This is a secretary controlled practice. Woe on to you if you get the wrong one. The one I have dealt with cares more for her own comfort than yours. You can call and find their answering machine is full, because no one has bothered to check it for days! Leave a message and expect a call back? Forget it. You can call for an appointment and play telephone tag for weeks. If she calls back after several days, she won't leave a message on your machine, but insist on talking to you directly. However, getting to her directly is nearly impossible. If you need help in a hurry, you might get lucky, but the odds are against you. read more

Had Dr Kunze do Colonoscopy this AM and it went swimmingly. In and out the door in less than an hour. I opted to go without any anesthesia so I could watch and see the progress live and in color. There was some discomfort primarily from the air being blown in but it was interesting to see the light, the water flush, the forceps come in and lance off what he suspected, and I hope; benign polyp. He acknowledged there was minor issue on turn three and there was some discomfort; but once he's all in, the retraction and viewing is a bit easier. Im not sure how they cork your opening to keep all that air in there but its a tad uncomfortable being inflated from the inside and you cant really "expel". Still faster, easier and more informative to go without anesthesia- I was home enjoying a spinach feta omelette while others that checked in same time were likely just being walked to their car. read more

I would never recommend this group to anyone!! Ever! Each visit was a complete nightmare from start to finish. Very unaccommodating to people who live far away. Do not go here if you have an acute issue. Wait time is ridiculous for diagnostic procedures even if you are an established patient. You don't have to go to Rochester for a preprocedure Covid test Which I found out the hard way. I asked if it could be done closer to where I live and was told no. Was told wrong advice by secretary there, went to Rochester, was denied the test, spoke with office manager and she told me I could go to CVS. I ENEDED UP HAVING IT DONE AT MY LOCAL HOSPITAL WITH NO PROBLEMS. The procedure went well at Highland Hospital. I was informed by my PCP, that I had Barrett's Esophagus. Never received a thing from this office of that diagnosis. Lost 30 lbs in 3 months and wanted to give another chance. HUGE WASTE OF MY TIME. Got nowhere. Thankful for my pcp and local hospital for keeping me alive. I would give them zero stars if allowed. read more

All they cared about was getting money from me. You are forced to pay for a consultation (over $100) before the procedure even though THEY require it, you did not ask for it. And they bill you immediately!!! I thought I had paid for the consultation when I checked in but then got another bill after it was processed through my insurance. They never told me it was a partial pay! My insurance covered a portion but I was still left with a balance. There are about 4 pages of financial terms and conditions you have to read and they don't provide a copy. You are expected to stand at the check in and read all of these and then sign off on them. The woman at the desk was nasty to me because I questioned why I had to pay for a consultation that THEY REQUIRED! Shouldn't it be part of the procedure billing? read more

I wish I could rate this without any stars at all. I had the worst experience I've ever had with this practice. First, let me say that the first time you call to get an appointment, prepare to wait a good 1/2 hour for someone to actually answer. I went for my appointment on a Friday afternoon. I went for 1 reason. I was called into the office late, which is pretty common these days, so no big deal, then a resident came in. The resident asked me questions for a half hour, then left for a half hour. At that point, the resident came back with the doctor I had made the appointment with. Without having a discussion with me at all and without doing any sort of a physical examination, she gave me a prescription for a drug... for something that had nothing to do with why I came to that office to be seen. So basically, it was late on a Friday, I was the last patient there, and she could have cared less that I paid $150 to be seen. When I called back about the actual reason why I went in there, the secretary took a message...and then called me back THREE days later to tell me that I should see a different type of doctor, which is completely and utterly wrong. I was referred by a doctor to this practice because they specialize in the reason I was going there. I am disgusted that I had to pay 1 cent for this appointment. I was literally ripped off. read more
