I was curious about this place as I never heard of the idea of Bavarian tapas! Also, my mother is from Munich and growing up in Michigan, she often made delicious Bavarian dishes. The owner and our server was very friendly. He told us that he also lived for a time in Munich. When I looked at the Leibhaftig restaurant menu, I knew that I wanted to try everything on it! First things first, I sampled the Pils and ordered a 0,5 L glass. Very tasty. The owner told us that he has a brewery about an hour east of Berlin that makes the Wanke labeled Pils, Dark and Hefeweizen beers; the IPA that is also offered is made at another brewery. My wife ordered an Apfelschorle drink (carbonated apple juice) that was also very good. For my meal I ordered a small white veal sausage served with a pretzel and sweet mustard, traditional roast pork cutlets served with dark beer gravy, pretzel dumplings and a small bowl of crunchy cabbage salad. All wonderfully delicious and carefully and impeccably made. My wife opted for vegetarian fare. She ordered a small semolina (Griessknockerl) soup, beetroot dumplings and a salad. She mentioned this was her favorite meal she had in Germany! We had a delicious baked apple pastry with almond slices (no raisins) served with ice cream to wrap things up. Super delicious food, great beer, charming restaurant and friendly staff! Highly recommended!

The warm waitstaff and barkeeps made us feel right at home. Regarding delicious beers, I ordered the Dunkel and my husband ordered a Pilsner. My Dunkel was delicious and STRONG.......I will leave this part for the end of the review. My husband enjoyed his pilsner. This is one of those places that is like a Keller type setting since you are a bit underground like in a grotto. You can easily visit with folks at the tables next to you if they seem open to it. We visited with an interesting couple from New Zealand and it just made the evening even more idyllic. We ordered the bavarian veal sausage with fresh pretzel and sweet mustard, the fraconian grilled sausages with homemade sauerkraut, and the black lentil salad with celery. When I say every single thing I ate was perfection......I mean it. It fulfilled my dreams of eating actual German food in Germany! I have already searched AI and Pinterest for a dupe of that salad. It was so refreshing and delicious with a nice vinegary bite to cut the richness of the sausages. The veal sausage was my favorite with the most amazing delicate flavor. Hey there, restaurant/brewhouse with the longest name ever......we will meet again. I think I might have been saying something similar as my husband sweetly guided my weaving self down the sidewalk after that strong Dunkel!

He found one in fact, that's so satisfactory, and even more fantastic that they have a Barrel Aged one for only €10. (this is easily $16 in San Francisco!) I had two of these and was about to order a third one when someone (blame my husband) decided it was time to go home :( okay, okay. He had a legit reason, we had a 8am flight the next day. That didn't stop the crew from ordering multiple rounds of brewski, from IPAs to classic witbier or just ask the staff for the current specials and they can recommend something to your liking. Centrally located in Prenzlauer berg, this is a fun and relaxing place to hang out. The group was in a bitter sweet mood as it always goes on our last night in Berlin since we only see them twice a year. No doubt, I will be back to Salt n Bone. Especially since the menu is unapologetically American and in the land of currywurst and doner kebabs, that's definitely a good thing.

We opted for the Dinner w Friends and drinks menu where the chef decides which meals will come out and unlimited beer/wine are included (for 75€ which is a great deal!). You have a 2 courses where multiple dishes will come out at once - a nice balance of appetizer and fish, meat and vegetable plates. All are shareable and very delicious. Everything was so flavorful! I especially loved their salmon ceviche which was more like a salmon poke, in a Bloody Mary sauce which was so unique and interesting! The sesame seed "bagel" with the pickled veg and tahini sauce were also phenomenal. Throughout our meal, our waiter would come by to check in on what we'd want to drink also while offering shots haha. Everything was fantastic but I'd say the only thing that was just okay was the dessert. They brought 2, one was a chocolate truffle dish and the other was some sort of "cake" made from sorghum flour topped with pistachios. The truffles were good but much too rich and the cake was a little bit of an interesting texture although fine flavor, but nothing that exciting. Otherwise it was a fabulous place to eat and I'd totally go back!

We walked in without a reservation-lucky for is- the host Ahju told us to wait half an hour and wait upstairs in the coach house and they would bring out free shots while we waited for our table to be ready. There were actually two other larger groups upstairs and we all ended up bonding over family members and friends who were running the Berlin marathon this upcoming Sunday. Since a lot of of us ate earlier, part of our group did a top of style share plates The other two of us ordered à la card as we had big lunches. The group that shared ordered the bagel, the skewer, the cauliflower dish, butter bean chicken and a rice dish. This was more than enough food for four, as the bagel was quite larger than we had expected and came with a spread or two. They seem like a very upscale place as there were quite a few individuals waiting outside, tables were constantly full and the service stuff were rushing around at a seemingly busy pace. The music was a little bit loud-a little harder to have a normal conversation, but it was also a Thursday evening so there may have been excitement in the air. Best dish was voted the butter bean chicken as it was sweet and very flavorful. The bread pudding was a very generous helping and the Joe was soft and sweet with a light dusting of powdered sugar and pecans. A very filling delicious dessert that is a bit uncommon in America. This was a very pleasant place to stumble upon on a Thursday!

They have been closed for rennovations and just opened again recently, so I'm glad I got to stop by here while on vacation. The restaurant was pretty packed on a Saturday evening, but we were able to grab the other end of a long table to eat at. They currently don't have any menus in English, but the waitress was happy to explain dishes we couldn't understand. The menu is filled with some starters, tapas, burgers, and desserts. We decided to share a variety of items and got 3 tapas (fried chicken, pulled pork, and bao bun) and the triple cheeseburger with bacon. Out of the 3 tapas, I enjoyed the fried chicken the most. It was moist, fried nicely, and not oily. The coleslaw that accompanied it was also good. The pulled pork was also tasty, but I wasn't a huge fan of pairing it with humus. My least favorite was the bao bun. I thought the bun was way too thick...so thick I actually thought it was 2 buns stuck together. The pork however was cooked well and very tender. I enjoyed the triple cheeseburger with bacon. I liked how the burger came out medium rare on a sizzling pan. We left it on there a few minutes and enjoyed eating it medium-medium well. The bacon, guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes were also on the side, so you can add as much or as little to your burger as you liked. It was definitely customizable! I washed my food down with a mojito, which was just okay. A little too much mint for my liking. I probably should have just ordered from their beer menu! Service was great, with our two waitresses being rather attentive throughout our meal. They happy gave C some paper and crayons/colored pens when he asked for them.

A combination brewery and food fair space…read more The space is divided into two sectors not unlike West and East Berlin Except that both halves are nice. One half has one of the most famous biergartens in the city. The other half hosts some sort of street food fair every weekend with a large changing array of food carts. We went for the African Food Festival. You only get BRLO beer if you go to the biergarten side. On the food fair side, you get a fixed drink vendor who sells a small selection of soft drinks and bottled beers. (But hey, don't knock German bottled beer.) * * * The location is 1/3 nice 2/3 not so nice. The biergarten is right near an enormous urban park. It is a more of a flat sports space than a dramatic forest, garden or lakeside. Berlin has lots of parks with the last three. But hey, flat parks are nice too. Over the whole lot runs one of the largest subways in the system. Nearby are all sorts of highways. So this is not the most sylvan tranquil location you can find for drinking beer outside. Either you really like BRLO beer, or you like the food carts at your particular food festival. * * * When we were there, the African Food Festival was not the greatest. The SHOPPING was fantastic. There was all sorts of colorful African wear to buy. I bought a spectacular bag from a Kenyan stand. The food was unfortunately on the meh side ... We tried food from multiple different vendors Including vendors for which there were long lines. Somehow the thrills were never there. I imagine if you go on a day with really good food trucks, Your experience will be different than ours. Rumor also has it - although I can not substantiate this That BRLO's own food on their side of the wall is pretty good. * * * I could be talked into going back and trying BRLO's own domestic side. But there are many spectacular biergartens in Berlin And many are known for their food as well as their beer. I imagine BRLO is a great thing if you live in the neighborhood. Otherwise save your trips to under the subway for weekends When you are particularly excited about the food festival de jour.

The ingredients are very fresh and imported from Italy. We really enjoyed the signature monella pizza for 13€. You get a full mozzarella in the middle as the picture shows. And overall great tomato sauce and nice soft dough. Definitely worth a try What could be better: The salad was mediocre as the picture shows. For almost €10 we found that pretty disappointing also giving the portion we receive. The vegan pizza almost didn't really taste like a pizza. It is a creative way with sun-dried tomato and caramelized toppings with artichokes but it was not our kind of taste. It was also a bit too oily for our taste. Summary: Monella offers great authentic Italian Napolitano pizza. The ingredients are fresh the service is nice and you can't go wrong if you live close by. Compared to other Napolitano pizza spots in Berlin I would rate this to be good. We have had better Napoletana pizza in Berlin but this one is a solid one and definitely worth a visit. Note that during the weekends it can be pretty crowded so make sure to reserve a table.
