Stumbled across this place - and very glad I did! They have $9.90 lunch specials with a wide range of traditional Thai dishes. The dishes we had included: Red Curry, Pad Siew, Rad-Na, Seafood Tom Yum Noodle Soup and Kway-Tee-Ao (Traditional Thai street-food noodle soup). All the Thai people I was with said that the food was excellent and very "Thai style" which is about as good a compliment as you can get for a Thai restaurant outside Thailand. They obviously have one chef at lunchtime as the dishes came out one-by-one, but again... that's Thai style, and we had everything within 10 minutes as they're quick to cook. The Thai waitress was very friendly and personable and recommended certain dishes and it was no problem to "tweak them" to a local version for my Thai friends. Can highly recommend this place if you're in Katoomba - especially for lunch when the dishes are a lot cheaper. A great and authentic Thai restaurant.

The inside is significantly cleaner, bright, roomier than you'd expect from looking at the outside, and the food matches the interior perfectly. The green curry is served with the sauce thick enough and in the right quantities for you not to require rice to go with it, while still leaving more than enough extra sauce for those who want rice with it. Extremely tasty and just enough of a kick to really add to the flavour. I like it when Thai food makes me start reacting to a bit of chilli and spice but without having had actually ask for my dish to be prepared that way. Both my partner and I were left very impressed by this place, and it will be our new go-to Thai restaurant when dining in the area.

I had my doubts over whether or not I would be able to eat here due to my dietary restrictions (it's quite difficult being vegan and having food allergies to certain vegetables as well!), as I couldn't find a website or even a PDF of their menu available online. So I pretty much went in blind. Upon arrival, I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere. The music was set on an early 50s to early 60s playlist, and the decor felt absolutely homey and overall lovely. The menu was a tad confusing as it was split into vegetarian and regular dishes (which I do appreciate though!). I spent a good 3 minutes wondering why there wasn't a tofu/veggie option for their curries. Once I made it towards the end of the menu I just sighed in relief that I wouldn't have to order an entree and just be done for the night with a 3hr bike ride ahead of me to boot. I was having a bit of trouble properly communicating with the waitress and had to ask her 3 times if there were no peas in the red curry (as I'm highly allergic to them), and she seemed to think that I wanted peas included, but once that was cleared up, I wasn't entirely certain if she wrote down my rice order along with it as it didn't arrive for 10 minutes after my curry did, and 20 minutes after the rest of my group received their food. We had to ask if she had taken my rice order and promptly returned with a massive bowl of rice (rather than a single person portion). I felt bad to ask her about it again so I just tried my best to finish it all and had to give the other quarter that was left to my partner and his friends. Even so, I was starting to feel a bit sick from all the food and having to quickly eat (as my order took substantially longer to arrive than everyone else's). As our little tradition, we all went through the menus to add up what we owed that night's paying person, but I noticed that one of their menus was missing the single page that I ordered my dishes from, so we had to wait for one of the staff to exit out of the kitchen in order to ask for another one. Once we were nearly ready to leave, a member of our group ordered a coffee to go (takeaway) but when he asked for 2 sugars, he was instead given 2 orders of coffee, to stay. My partner had to drink one of them since it was simply too much coffee for one person in such a short time. One of the younger waitresses admitted that she was still new, and advised us to ask the other in regards to all of our orders that night, but I feel as though the language barrier and disorder within the establishment just made it all the more complicated for everyone. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this restaurant unless you're allergy-free and not picky with getting something you didn't order. It was such a shame too. The place looked absolutely lovely, but they really seemed to have an issue with either the management or staff.

The Sate Chicken was nice and we ordered a large Fried Rice (pic attached) and when it arrived I questioned if it was a small Fried Rice and was told abruptly its a large mmmm it was seriously smaller than a normal small rice. We also ordered Chicken Chow Mein with chilli and noodles seperate please as they just get soggy if they are underneath the dish and it came out no chilli and noodles underneath not on the side, when I said that they forgot the chilli I was told that there is some on the table, talk about really poor customer service. We also ordered Chinese tea but it never arrived. Whilst we were there 2 people had complaints re takeaways 1 had items missing and one the dish was incorrect but she wouldn't accept that the dish was incorrect and debated with the customer in not such a nice tone of voice. Service was extremely slow even thought the whole time we were the only ones in the restaurant I now know why we were the only customers dining in. To top it off I checked the bill when I got home and was overcharged by $6. Needless to say that was my first and last visit. I know its really tough in small business but being honest and giving good customer service would result in more than 2 customers in your restaurant on a Friday night. I will be going back to Kao Yui or Soco at Blaxland.
