Who cares what the branch looks like?? They are shockingly bad and I'm annoyed I have to give them one star! I've been trying to find a house for my family since our current landlord decided to sell. We found a house we liked with g pees (despite William making us feel hurried during viewings) and had an offer accepted. The house was also on with another agency and so William really pushed us to put down the holding deposit which was £500. The point of this deposit was to take it off the market. He was very reluctant to give us any paperwork before accepting the deposit and only when we pushed did we get a copy of the standard contract and a fees breakdown. The fees totalled £610 no wonder he didn't want to show us! This is more expensive even than Foxtons! We were feeling so pressured that we effectively agreed to this by putting down the deposit. We went in a few days later to start the reference checks, then two weeks later were emailed the contract. We then went in to sign the contract and were told the owner was abroad and would be signing on return. A week later (please note this is almost four weeks now we have been under the impression we had secured the house) we were phoned by William to say the owner had pulled out. We were given no explanation. I then went into the office a few days later to get our deposit back and find out that William has transferred to another branch but there is obviously something they are not telling me because everyone looks embarrassed and is saying different things. By this point Sam had worked out who I was but I actually had to ask her what had happened wrt the owner pulling out. She first told me she didn't know and then admitted that Foxtons (the other agency the house was on with) had been continuing to market the house and someone had made a higher offer. I said I thought the deposit had taken the house off the market with both agencies and all she said was 'yes it should have'. She then went on to tell me how livid she was with the owner without a thought to the fact that my family and I had been left without a house at very short notice. She did apologise eventually but was clearly more concerned about herself than us! I will never use them again I can't see how they could have been any worse. I was disappointed at every step of the way and honestly, despite the grief it has caused, I am sooo pleased to have an opportunity to get out of the contract. They are horrible, false, self-interested people. Don't believe a word they say! read more
