Veteran Garage Doors was actually open on Saturday when I called. Several who claimed 24 hr service went straight to voice mail. The technicians showed up within the first 30 min of the appointment window and quickly diagnosed the broken spring. They also figured out that my "emergency" lock was not even connected. That saved them from having to drill it out and they made quick work of replacing the archaic single spring mechanism with a lifetime dual spring setup AND a lock that's actually connected. It is the quietest this garage door has operated in the 8 years I've owned this house.

The tech even took the time to do some adjustments to the door's rails to ensure it's continuing smooth operation even though I had him out for just a spring replacement. I chatted with the tech and found him knowledgeable and friendly. He gave me a lot of great education on proper maintenance to keep things operating well and prevent them from wearing out. He also told me how long various items last before requiring replacement but made no pushy sales attempts. The office even called just after to follow up and ensure my satisfaction. Their team is running as well as my garage door is. Complements to a job well done and a well deserved 5 star review.

It was free for them to come and check it out, and then they gave an estimate of what it would cost to fix our issue. They fixed it quickly and even addressed an issue we had with our garage that was unrelated to our original need for them. They replaced our broken spring and we asked for 2 springs this time. They have a great warranty and everything was done with care, pride, and precision. Will definitely use them again.

I would've given more stars but there are definitely some discrepancies in Annamaria's response…read morefrom what actually occured. First, the timeline. I received a call from veteran garage door WHILE installation was still going on saying installation was complete and they wanted payment. At that time I was sitting inside the house and could hear all kinds of banging, drills, etc. I could not go inside the single car garage because it was full of ladders, tools, garage door components, etc., and I did not want to disturb the installer or get in his way. He also had his trailer backed up to the garage, so I couldn't get in from the outside either. As soon as he left I went inside the garage and immediately called veteran garage door to tell them the wiring was not done right. Up to this point, and even as I was on the phone describing the issue I thought veteran garage door was a reputable company that would never allow such low standards, but I was wrong. The woman on the phone asked, "Does the door go up and down?" I said yes. Her response was, "Well then sounds like it was a successful installation so I'll take your payment now." WHAT?!?! Judge for yourself from the photos. Does this look like it would be up to anyone's standards? They couldn't even be bothered to run the wire through conduit or even use little wire clamps instead wrapping the wires around screws. By the way some were coming unwrapped the next day so the wires literally would've just been dangling. Another thing to note here is their communication. Never through the whole process did anyone from veteran garage door explain verbally or show in pictures or writing what their "standard" wiring installation looked like. If they had shown me anything like these photos I would never have hired them. Also, the electrician I hired found no reason why they ran the wiring all over the place instead of through the easily accessible attic space like he did. I waited the 6 weeks from paying the deposit they said it would take to get the door in stock and then had to call them to find out what was going on. At that point I was told they had only ordered the door 4 weeks ago so it may be longer! They took a moment to double check, and found my door was there ready to go, just waiting. If I hadn't called, I wonder if they ever would have contacted me or if my job would've been overlooked? I also wonder how long it had been sitting there ready and it could've been installed sooner had they been on top of things? That brings me to my last point and another major discrepancy from Annamaria's statement. There was no "agreed upon" timeline, there were only demands for payment within their unreasonable timeline or else! I explicitly repeated several times that they were not permitted to charge my card without my consent and approval for the amount. I never said I wouldn't pay, I just said I needed time to get repairs made before closing out the account. They gave me 3 days to get repairs done when they expect me to wait for weeks even months for them to get their stuff done? I wasn't expecting to need some one to fix their bad job. So I had to scramble, and was nothing short of lucky that one of the 4 electrician's I called had a cancellation and was able to come by. I ended up being only 15 minutes late from their do or die Friday by 4pm deadline. Yet, did they call for an update? No. Did they ask before charging my card? No. Yes, Annamaria refunded me $400 to cover the electrician at $250 and the rest to use toward sheetrock and painting. Honestly, $150 is barely enough to cover paint and materials, but I was tired of fighting them over it. I was planning on writing a really nice review about her help then I saw her response to my original review. Thought some truth was warranted so future customers know what they are getting in to.

My wife and I found a home in our "dream neighborhood," but we wanted to make some upgrades in the kitchen, living room, and master bathroom. Over 3-4 months, we did some major work (i.e. "take it to the studs" in most rooms) and Steve got it completed on time and on budget -- with many compliments from our friends and family. Before the renovation, we met with several different contractors that provided a series of construction plans and budgets. Steve did that too, but he offered so much more. Most of all, we were impressed by Steve's attention to detail and his keen eye for architecture. For example, most contractors "eye balled" the room measurements. Not Steve. On his first visit, he took measurements of every room and could immediately work with us on room design (or re-design) that helped us envision the yet-to-be-completed project. In addition, other contractors "suggested" that we hire an architect to help with the plans. But the bonus of working with Steve was that his architecture background gave us a "two in one" that could help us envision how we would utilize the house (i.e. you'll want the sink here; the oven here; the pantry here; a door here; etc). In my opinion, this was a huge asset to our remodel plan as we were able to review (and modify) building plans before we started work -- and Steve had some excellent input about "the flow" of our certain rooms in our future layout. Before selecting Steve, we spoke to about 5-7 people that worked with Steve on prior projects and they all offered glowing recommendations of him -- and his work. During the renovation, Steve worked hard to keep his sub-contractors on schedule and routinely updated us on their progress. If we had a modification to our plans, Steve was always willing to find a solution. He also worked closely with us to select light fixtures, cabinet designs, and granite slabs. For other parts, he worked with my wife to "create" her dream kitchen and they would routinely share photos from magazines or the internet so he could best understand what we were "looking for." He did some major work. New hardwood floors that look excellent. A new "rain shower" with a built-in bench that my wife loves. Expanding our kitchen by moving the water and A/C to the attic that allowed us to put an island in the kitchen. Removing a massive (truly massive) fireplace and installing a natural gas fireplace. This was not an easy job and his work was excellent. Now that our remodel project is complete, we can offer our highest recommendation for Steve and Watermark. We are truly happy with the final outcome and it was not a surprising result given Steve's hard work and incredible attention to detail that we now have our "dream home."

I have sent an email on their website, as well as left a message on their voicemail by phone. Have not received a reply or a return call. I called again on two separate occasions, and no one ever seems to answer. What appealed to me about this company was the before and after photos posted by another Yelper. I'm wanting to change the layout of my kitchen, in addition to other extensive interior remodeling. With the architectural background this company has, I thought they would be the best choice. It's just unfortunate that they have poor communication with new/potential clients. Rapport is so very important in huge investments such as home improvement; and so far, I don't have a very comforting impression with how this company engages with its clients.
