I brought in my VW for service due to a check engine light on. I had already read the code and gave that to them. They told me that code and a number of others but said they could not fix the problem. They referred me to the dealership. Unfortunately the dealership will charge me for the exact same service for diagnosis. So I essential spent $150 for nothing at Gary's. The employees here are thieves. They took my car for 2 days for an oil change. Left a coupon for free oil change in car and it wasn't there when it was time to pay. Missed work due to no car and they didn't fill empty windshield fluid. Horrible experience. read more

My daughter and I were on our way to see her wedding dress when we came upon an accident on the highway that had not been cleared. We ran over something and immediately knew something was wrong. We found Gary's when we searched for auto repair - We slowly drove there and they immediately took care of us. They removed a piece of plastic from one of the tires, plugged the leak and put air in the tire. A short time later we were on our way and we were still able to make our appointment.. I have a Toyota Prius that had a code come up. I called Gary's and they said they worked on them. After over $400 I was told they did not have much experience on Prius and I would have to take it else where. Did not fix issue and could not figure out. I am out $430 and (2) tow bills. read more

UPDATE: So my "Collector Car" decided to get uppity and wouldn't start. Max at Gary's Auto put me in touch with their preferred towing outfit and the towing dude came over and took great care heaving my super-low-slung sports car out of the garage and onto his flatbed. Not a scratch was made. Seeing my freshly-waxed betrothed getting towed gave me a serious case of the vapors. For real. A little later at Gary's, Glen and the boys had the almost thankless task of diving into old wiring diagrams and so on but they found the electric gremlins that plagued me and the car. My "old car" is now back and running better than ever. I've been racing around in the car in the most careless, watch-this manner you can imagine and having an absolute ball doing so. But, you know, responsibly. Gary's is thorough, methodical, and they respect you and your car. No B.S. No double talk. No one-liners. No "zingers." Just the facts with a smile. And Max kept me updated all along via phone and text. For all the work they put into the car, the final bill was totally reasonable. I never feel like I'm getting hoodwinked when it comes to Gary's. I took my Volvo SUV to Gary's to have new front brakes put on. They told me they use Volvo parts and that they have Volvo certified mechanics to do the work. From the time I picked up my car afterwards, the new front brakes squeaked. When I went back to Gary's and told them this, they spent 1/2 hour driving the car around Delafield. They said they did not hear the brakes squeak. On the way home, they DID squeak! And they have ever since then. I only have 1 car so I can't hand it over to them to drive around until the brakes squeak for them. When I had to have my rear brakes replaced afterwards, I had the work done by my Volvo dealer. They have worked perfectly and have NEVER squeaked. The Volvo mechanic looked at the front brakes--the ones that Gary's replaced--and it turns out that: 1) Gary's didn't replace the rotors! 2) Gary's didn't use Volvo brake pads (they lied to me when they said they would) Now, I have to have my Volvo dealer put new VOLVO brakes on my SUV. It is going to cost me $600, but at least they will WORK. Do not take your car for servicing at Gary's if you have a foreign car!!!!!! They will rip you off. read more

I stumbled on Gary's Auto just by driving around the area and seeing quite a few foreign cars in their lot. After bad experiences with other mechanics and local BMW dealerships, (misdiagnosing issues and charging an exceptional premium for repair services) I gave Gary's Auto a try when Firestone told me they weren't able to solve my car's oil leak issues. I was thoroughly impressed with the way I was treated as a new customer, and I thought the price they charged to fix my car was very fair. I later found out from other people I know that they are great, reputable mechanics. My confidence has been built and I plan to return whenever my car needs service. read more
