I purchased a 2023 GMC Acadia Denali from Ewald Oconomowoc, and unfortunately, this has been one of the most frustrating vehicle-buying experiences I've ever had. I expected much more from a dealership of this size, especially when purchasing a vehicle that was represented as certified. Here are some of the issues I've experienced: I had the vehicle for only 10 days before it needed to go back to Ewald for repairs. The vehicle has now been in their service department for over 3 weeks. At this point, I've owned the vehicle longer while it has been sitting in their shop than I've actually been able to drive it. I discovered a fuel-gauge issue almost immediately after purchasing it. The gauge was showing low fuel, then after driving home and restarting the vehicle, it suddenly showed half a tank. This should have been caught and addressed before selling the vehicle. What makes all of this even more frustrating is that this was sold to me as a certified vehicle, which gave me the impression that it had been thoroughly inspected and was ready to be sold with confidence. I completely understand that used vehicles can have problems. What I don't understand is how a vehicle can be sold as certified, develop problems within 10 days, and then spend more than 3 weeks in the dealership's service department. I've spent a significant amount of my first month of ownership dealing with problems, service, and uncertainty about a vehicle I had just purchased. This experience has seriously damaged my confidence in Ewald, and I would not make this purchase again knowing what I know now. read more

Happened to stop here in my Ford and had an issue with it resulting in it being unmovable for over 3 weeks. Ewald gave me a loaner Chevy Silverado for the duration, despite me not being a customer, and even paid for a rental vehicle when I had to go out of state. Angie primarily helped me and was absolutely amazing, but everyone I interacted with there was as well. The most professional, helpful, and kind dealership I have ever interacted with, period. They went out of their way, to their expense, to help me even though I've never spent a penny with them. I will definitely be buying my next vehicle here. read more

Can someone tell me why it is so important for a car dealership to steal money from individuals? I placed a down payment on a vehicle, my bad, that I ended up backing out of the deal. The payment was only 500 dollars on a debit card. It is now 4 days later, I swiped my card at the cashier for the return payment and I still don't have the money. It's not 1950. Do not buy any used car from here, the will sell you a used car with problems. People trade in vehicles because there are issues with them and this dealer knows of the issues and doesn't address and fix the vehicle before putting it back up for sale. I purchased a used Chevy truck I noticed the tires were BALD I mentioned it and so did my husband we were laughed at and told the used car manager stands by the tires. Test driving it I heard and noticed a weird vibration said something to my sales guy while on test drive he said it was probably the roads. After we purchased the truck is when we found the real HUGE issues, the husband was able to pull tires off and see clearly what any normal mechanic could see was a blown out shock. After thousands of dollars in repair my truck is now what it should have been when I purchased it. I drove 3.5 hrs to get this exact vehicle and had a HORRIBLE experience. I am going to bet they didn't fix the issues I had with the vehicle I traded in and just sold it to some poor couple thinking they were getting a great ride but it had issues I wasn't able to afford to fix so a trade was the best way to go. DO NOT BUY USED CARS FROM HERE! You're better buying from some random person selling privately because this dealership doesn't FIX the issues before putting the vehicle back out on the lot to sell to make more $$$! read more

Stay away from the service department. I brought in my 2015 Yukon to have service for an electrical problem, where the dash would go completely blank and reset while driving. I was met by Michael in service, I explained the problem the vehicle was having and tried to show him a video of what was going on, but Michael didn't seem interested, just blew it off. After having the vehicle for 3 weeks, and giving me multiple excuses why its taking so long, the mechanic came back with a trailer control module and possible chassis modular. I have a decent knowledge of engines, after questioning the control modular, Michael informed the mechanic had 20 + years of service. Michael stated that they would replace the control modular then see if the chassis control needed replaced, I ask if they would just replace both. I can understand the chassis modular but not the trailer control. Needless to say they only replaced the trailer control for $750. I was able to drive around 40 miles before the problem happened again, contacted Michael to inform and he started taking notes for another appointment like he never heard of the problem before, I realize service guys aren't mechanics, but this guys has no idea about engines. I left a message with Michael asking to contact me before I bring the vehicle back in and never received a callback. Unless your vehicle brakes down on Ewald Chevys lot, I would never advise to bring your vehicle here. I regret not looking at all the bad reviews for service Ewald had before bring my vehicle in. I'm sure they will respond with the generic excuse and apologize, but nothing will ever be done about it read more

AMENDMENT: Following conversations with the management staff, I will be getting some of my money back. Following the aforementioned service, I decided to have the vehicle inspected by another dealership. The vehicle had an oil leak that required immediate intervention and an additional $2000 in repairs. Thankfully this was covered by the extended warranty. These guys do not negotiate. They pr ce their cars high and when you try to work on the price, all they do is try to justify it. Welcome to 2018 guys...that's not how business is done. If your prices were fair, that's one thing, however, the prices are full retail, if not higher. Their service bay is questionable at best. Mechanics aren't the greatest, and apparently when they derail a car "kinda detailed" is good enough for its customers. After all, if were dumb enough to pay full retail, were dumb enough to overlook mechanical set up issues. This Ewald lot will not treat you fair. They will take advantage of anyone who walks through the door. Do yourself a favor.....find a different dealership. ** UPDATE ** In response to their response...if you were truly sorry, you wouldnt try to pull what you pull. We stopped here on our way back from Niagara Falls when our check engine light came on. It was a Saturday and even though I knew they were busy, they got me in and got me back on the road. Knowing that they may never see me again, this meant a lot. They diagnosed the vehicle, changed my oil, and washed my car. The service was professional, honest, and quick. So the poor service saga continues. I took my car in again for routine maintenance (oil change). A week after the visit after my car sat in the garage the entire time without use, the door would not close. I brought it in yesterday, and they "allegedly" spent time trying to diagnose the problem. They called me and told me the hinge was damaged and I should take it to a body shop to get it repaired. I took it to the body shop today, and they diagnosed the issue (loose door catch) in less than 5 minutes, and had it repaired in less than 30 minutes. If Ewald had actually cared and given my car the attention it deserved, it would have been fixed yesterday. Instead, they spent time trying to prove the issue was not their fault to cover their backside. Well, no worries. I will not be back. read more

If I could give zero stars I would.  Buyer's and customers beware. I took my 2016 Chevy Trax (at the time it had 74k miles) in for an oil change. Suddenly I have a massive oil leak (looked like the tech got sloppy and spilled, I have zero evidence of an oil leak anywhere on my light concrete driveway or garage) a week and a half later the check engine light comes on. They insist it's this oil leak -fine fix it. The next day my engine is misfiring- oh it's the spark plugs. ( whatever fix it) $1200 on a $700 quote. Exactly a week after I pick it up, engine misfires so badly my car almost stalls out. They now say it's a bad coil pack. Talk to the service director get told "of course we want you spending money on car repairs ". Add another 230 (was 400 but they graciously gave me a discount after complaining that I had been there 3 times in a month) onto that 1200. Less than a week later, engine light comes on again. Same codes as the first visit.  Turns out it was my evap valve. Thanks to Autozone for helping me solve the mystery that the dishonest techs at Ewald refused to do. I called the GM multiple times and got zero response. Oh- and they also pull new parts out of brand new vehicles to test if that's the problem in ones they're working on. I was also told this by the sevice writer and by the service director. needless to say, extremely disappointed and will not be purchasing another chevy or another vehicle from any Ewald. I was also told by the GM they dont want my business and to go elsewhere before he hung up on me read more

My husband and I purchased a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban LTZ here in late May. Staff bent over backwards to find just the vehicle we were looking for in a very short time frame. Delivery process was great. They took the time to demonstrate and explain every switch and system in detail and followed up by phone to make sure we were satisfied with the experience and field any questions that may have arisen in the first few days of driving the vehicle. Their safety inspections are worthless. Bought a car with nothing disclosed as being wrong. $1000 issue found the very next day. They didn't consider anything wrong with the car or the inspection. One call to my attorney and threat to contact the state changed their mind and they agreed that there was an issue and offered to fix it as a "one time good will gesture". Gimme a break. I wanted to provide an update. I tried working with GM Corporate to solve my problem with the Chevy Volt. The service was poor, but not nearly as bad of an experience that I received at Ewald Chevrolet. Now they are cancelling the production of Chevy Volts. Why? Because they are cheaply made and were only made to appease the president of the US because they received a taxpayer bailout. GM is so far behind the times. They make pretty good trucks, but they are not as good as Ford. I am sure this company will go the way of Kodak and be irrelevant in 20 years. That is unless they receive more government bailout money. GM makes cars that break so that they can make money off servicing the cars. In my case, Ewald Chevrolet would not honor their bumper to bumper warranty when the radiator failed. Then when I tried to reason with them, they became obdurate. Even threatening. I have a hard time leaving 2 stars, but we do like the vehicle we bought from them, I just don't like all of the shady and uncaring tactics we experienced outside of getting our vehicle. This was the second Tahoe we test drove, and it drove well except for the pulsing of the breaks. We talked about that when negotiating a price, and that we would take care of it. It was late, and the paperwork would have to wait for another time. I had set that time up for 6 p.m., stating to Jennifer that my husband doesn't get home usually until 5:30, so we might be there at 6:15. She was okay with that, and he was able to get home a little sooner, and we showed up at 6:05. She took someone else before us, and we didn't get to see her until an hour and a half after our scheduled appointment!!! I mentioned being upset about having to wait that long since I had an appointment scheduled at 6 and it was now after 7:30 and we hadn't eaten supper yet. It was a school night and we also had a 45 minute drive home. They only thing she said was, "yeah, I don't know how that happened." Before we left, I had talked with the manager about how I was leaving with a "bad taste in my mouth" about the service we had here. He was kind, and wanted to make an excuse, but did see that there was no excuse to treat a customer so poorly who had an appointment. My time means something and is worth something! He offered an oil change, which wouldn't help us, and I'm not even sure I was looking for anything, but a sincere apology. It never came from Jennifer! Even today, nothing in the mail. The day after we brought the Tahoe home, my husband noticed the service suspension message was on. He had contacted the dealership, and they were going to take care of it. He went to see them on one of his days off, a day he took off to spend time with his family while they are on spring break, and found that the sales manager wouldn't even take the time to talk with him. It was left to the service manager. The service manager wanted to charge him $1200 to fix it. Dealer list cost for the part is $475. Knowing this my husband was just going to buy the part from him, and fix it himself. They were going to charge him $575. After showing the service manager how he was overcharging him for a part he could get for $475 anywhere else, plus he could get it for $250 at rock auto parts, the service manager did end up giving it to him for him to install himself. A lot of unnecessary frustration and runaround from Ewald. Not going to be a customer again! read more

Worst dealership I have ever dealt with. Josh(saleman) and Amy(internet sales) were great. Insulting trade in offer and price of vehicle overpriced with no negotiation offered at all. Would not recommend them at all. Horrible experience. Tried making me pay 12k for a vehicle that had a trade in value of $2200, has an oil leak, bad tie rods, bad idler arm. they offered me $2000.00 for my trade that has a retail value of $7250.00 which means they were trying to make about 9k off of me. I know times are tough but don't insult your customers by thinking they would be dumb enough to accept that. When i told them I wanted to pay cash they gave me this price with what it would cost per month. I am sure someone their will see this and won't care either and would be surprised if they actually so. FYI - they would only get a two for customer service because of Josh and Amy and the fact that a gentleman gave my kids a cookie. read more
