Hi, I will start by saying we take our 2016 pilot in at every warning given in the dash and even when something arises as we have always been a Honda family. We actually have had 4 Hondas at once and always take care and have proper maintenance done when suggested. 163,000 miles. needs an A5. oil change and engine coolant replacement. already $600. I also had new tires put on adding another $1,200 to my bill. and don't forget the tire alignment charge in with the $600. Go to pick it up, suggest $180 diagnostic to see why suspension is messed up on rear of car. That doesn't include any pets labor or services after the fact of course......And suggest transmission flush for $500 though we just had transmission fluid replaced less than one year ago. "There are too many reasons for us to go into as to why this might have happened". Can't tell you what the problem is.....oh but we can fix it for at least $500.....right. My gas light is on, a warning light saying keyless remote battery low is now on my dash as well. Oh and I asked the service person if there was an extra surcharge if I used a CC to pay for service. Nope. Surprise, there was. Had to get that refunded and repaid with a debit card. All the advisors were new and was a horrible experience. Not just one thing to be put out about but like 5 things that were jacked up. So glad we are moving from this area. Would not go back there again even if we were not moving. I bought a brand new Honda odyssey from Gary Smith Honda in 2019. They missed that my break hold button didn't work when they "inspected my vehicle". Fast forward to this month 2024. I got stuck in a car wash when my car automatically put itself in break hold and I couldn't turn it off. I had no idea what break hold was and I just assumed that I didn't pay for that feature. So I took it to my local now Gunn Honda shop in Texas because we are military and we moved. All I get is oh I am sorry you are out of warranty, you should have noticed this while you were in warranty. What a joke! I have replied with I brought my car in multiple times for various things and NO ONE from Honda noticed it so why would you expect that I would when I have no idea what I would be looking for. At the end of the day I will never buy another Honda ever again. Clearly they don't stand behind their product, they don't have enough checks and balances in the build process to miss an entire button not working and when issues like this arise all you hear is , "Let me find out for you, but I know when they make a decision they review several items. One of them is weather you have been a loyal Honda customer and it looks like you have been taking it to a lube place for most of your maintenances." So because I don't use Honda for my oil changes I am not loyal enough. Well I am sorry Honda but I have 3 kiddos and my oldest is extremely special needs and we need oil changes to be quick and for us to be able to stay in the vehicle because my oldest doesn't transition well. I grew up in Honda dealerships, my dad has worked with Honda most of my childhood. I have so many fond memories of Honda and what they use to stand for 25 years ago. Sadly the name Honda doesn't live up quality anymore. ** Update ** Service manger told me to be honest with this review. So my update is that after this review I got a call back and said he is not willing to call American Honda on my behalf but if I drove my car from Texas to Florida that they would be willing to fix my button for free. But not willing to have my local Honda fix it for me with them paying for it. I am sure everyone thinks that's a totally logical solution haha. bought my first car from a dealership from here in June and the salesman assured, not only me, my boyfriend, and my mom that the car i picked was up to date, everything was good to go on it, oil change, brakes, and tires. after one week of having the car, i had to get an oil change, which they charged me $300-$350. upon getting my oil changed, they then told me i need new brakes - $300 for the front, $300 for the back. yesterday, i took it to a third party tire shop, which they showed me that the tires on the car are the ORIGINAL tires that came on the car in 2019. Gary Smith Honda sold me a car with 6 year old tires on it. Yes, I bought a used car, but the salesman should have never assured me that the car I picked wouldn't need all of this work done on it, and if he would have told me it did, I either would have chosen a different car, or went somewhere else. Called Gary Smith Honda and told them my issue and all they offered me was a free oil change, after many back and forths and transfers to random people. If you want to get a good reliable car from people you can trust truly avoid this dealership. I have put a total of 3,000 miles on this car, have had it for 3 months, and $1750 in maintenance, because they wanted to make a quick buck. These are the tires in question that have been on the car since 2019. work is good people are nice. the problem is all the extra charges. took my car in for warranty tire repair. repair covered by warranty but there is a shop fee so the repair was $39 covered by warranty but the shop fee was $4.20. plus using a credit card is 3%. I wonder what would cost me if I get major repair on warranty? watch out for those credit card fees! Don't buy warranty if you think everything is included. My troop purchased a vehicle(preowned) and a warranty from this shady dealership. Within a week of purchasing, the engine experienced a catastrophic failure and had to be replaced. The warranty wouldn't cover stating that the issue was pre existing; meaning the engine was failing when the dealership sold him the car. The dealership refused to offer any assistance so my troop is now paying for the vehicle at retail price and the full cost of an engine replacement. Shady practices and not military friendly! Financial Guy: Ethan (?)..heavy guy 0/10 Would NOT recommend. The sales experience felt genuine, but once we entered into the financial office... the sleezey sales began to saturate the deal. There is NO reason to remind me how expensive my purchase is to try and get me to purchase the add-ons. Also, don't in on breath dog out another car brand, then when I communicate that I own one, you try to take it back. I'm literally at the table...let me sign and move on. Yuck guy Service: So we started in the service department bc another Honda dealer messed up something within my vehicle during an OIL CHANGE! We found GS Honda on our way through to our destination, and they were able to replace the part. *We arrived at 7:30a, and left around 11:30/12* I will say that they could not clearly say what was done that cause the issue... but identified a fix. It is slightly annoying because I am someone who likes to know what the problem is. All in All... fixed old vehicle, only to trade it in. If you are trying to get your Honda repaired, this is not the place. We had my daughter's 2019 Honda CRV at the service department of Gary Smith Honda for three days. Not only did they not diagnose or repair her broken AC, they charged her $1,083 for it. They were rude, condescending, sneering, scoffing and yelled at her repeatedly. This service deparment is either a joke or simply evil. Drew, the manager, misrepresented the action they would take, and when my son called to get clarity on what was going on told him to come on down and they would have it out in the parking lot. Drew is the supervisor of the service department! Zach--let me warn you--avoid him like the plague. He yells, threatens, quickly devolves into telling you how much he's doing for you (nothing) and how he's keeping you safe (absolutely not--I've never felt so unsafe in my life, and I live in New Orleans). No diagnosis. No repair. A bill for $1,083. They are simply horrible. A local mechanic told us that they send work to him when they can't figure it out--on their own Hondas! It's not rocket science, and it's not a Lamborghini. It's the AC in a basic Honda CRV, and they repeatedly failed miserably. read more

There's nothing quite like being on vacation and have your car suddenly break down. This is the second year in a row that something totally unexpected has happened to our (generally fantastic) CRV while on a fairly long driving vacay. But, once again, I was able to talk/call/go to a Honda dealer and within an hour and a half the issue was resolved. In this case it was simply a battery that had to be replaced. Be careful using their service department for anything other than oil change or routine maintenance. They cannot troubleshoot like a regular mechanic shop because of Honda regulations. They quoted me $5,000 for air conditioning repair and I got a second opinion and it fixed at a local shop for $500. The issue was not what Honda had told me it was and was instead a simple fix. I would give them negative stars if it was an option. I took my 2014 Honda Ridgeline to Gary Smith Honda to sell it to them. I was given a quote of $11,000. I went back a week and a half later to sell it to them for the $11,000 and was told all of a sudden the most they would give me is $9800 because it had been in an accident with airbag deployment. I was in a predicament and had to sell the vehicle so I had to take the $9800. Four days later they have it listed for sale for $22,991. That is $3000 more than I paid for the vehicle four years ago. It's been over a week and I still haven't received my payout of the vehicle. In their statement about the vehicle it says that this is a non-smoker vehicle and that is a lie, I am a smoker and smoked in that vehicle every time I got in it. If you are in the market for a new or used Honda stay clear of Gary Smith Honda they will not treat you properly and you will not get a good deal. read more

I purchased a 2021 accord EX-L in early December 2020. My salesman was great and I am satisfied with my deal. I paid for my car in full with a bank check but after 45 days I never received my title. I went to dealership but the finance guy was off so I spoke with their accounting person ( Tammy ) and she told me my title was sent to EFCU. ( Why?). I told her I paid for it in full, I don't even bank with EFCU. After 48 hours I still had not heard back from dealership so I called EFCU and they had the title and didn't know why and informed me I had to wait 3 business days to get the title. What a cluster F. Bought a used vehicle from this dealership recently, be careful. they are not your friends. They first charge a 900 doc fee, which only costs them 75 to do... this can be negotiated off the price of the car if you go about it correctly, but they will fight tooth and nail. Where they scammed me, is they took my trade in vehicle and told me they would give 1k off the price of the vehicle i was buying, what they sneakily did and didn't mention: was they took the trade in value off the msrp value of the car, which isn't the price you or myself is negotiating. Crystal, a new service advisor to FWB, was so compassionate and friendly; and got my car worked due to an emergency situation. She agreed for me to drop my car off so the dealership could work on it, despite their busy schedule. She greeted me when I arrived, shared her appreciation as a mom, and made me feel she genuinely cared about me and my situation. She gave me her business card, she followed up with me on service updates, and went above and beyond to help. She was a delight to work with and gave excellent customer service. I stopped in on Saturday as we had a new CRV with 4,ooo miles under warranty and Apple Play did not work. We use this for navigation. I came in for help. Service referred me to Sales guy, who promptly referred me to another sales guy as he wanted no part of solving, who referred me back to Service Department. The women (cant remember name) in Service at least tried for 10-15 minutes and was nice, but were very disappointed in this Dealership as they didn't seem to care if they fixed the problem, or find someone who could. Where do I begin? Let me first start off by saying this; I am a loyal Honda customer. I go there for oil changes, batteries, and so on. I drive an Acura rsx and before an integra. Never in my life have I been in an argument discussing who makes Acura until today. Jeremy, the Honda service representative told me that they don't change oil on Acura nor will they install a new Honda battery (which is currently in my vehicle, dead). He said and I quote verbatim, "we don't know how much oil to put in." I asked about the battery- "I mean, I have a Honda battery but it's not for your car- you have to go to Acura next door." Hold on there's more- " Acura and Honda are two different cars ma'am..." after a couple of minutes explaining that I've serviced my car at Honda in Cary, NC and Durham, NC for the past 8 years without a problem, he transferred me to Acura while I was speaking. Needless to say, I wanted to speak to a manger just to make sure I hadn't lost my marbles. I left a message and never got a return call. I called Pensacola Honda. They are changing my oil and selling me a new battery, no questions asked. I will never go back to that Honda dealership for anything. read more

Unfortunately, during an out of state road trip, the alternator and battery decided to fail and I had no choice but to have the vehicle towed to a local shop. After the repairs, the engine began to overheat within 30 minutes of getting back onto the road and the shop was already closed by the time I returned. After getting back to Florida, I made an appointment with Gary Smith Honda and provided a full explanation of what happened prior and explained that most likely the other shop probably didn't plug something in because it was too convenient that the overheating occurred right after the alternator repair. After waiting just about all day and making repeated calls to the dealership that went unanswered, I finally received a text stating the vehicle was ready. When I inquired about the bill amount and the diagnoses, I was told the bill was $191, that the diag fee was $160 and there was tax added. Well that taxes didn't add up to $191. So I asked what the other amount for $19 was for and I was told that it was for a "federally mandated shop fee". Full disclosure, I work in the car business and I am fully aware of how the industry works. When I told the advisor that there was no such thing as a federal requirement, she argued with me and again said there was. I gave her one last opportunity to stop lieing about it, and reiterated to her that she was telling me that the United States of America federal government was telling Gary Smith Honda, a privately owned car dealership, that they had to charge me, the customer, $19 in shop fees. She responded yes. The best part was that what the technician found was the problem was that there were two fan sensors unplugged and that no other work was performed. So Gary Smith Honda charged a full hour of diag to plug in 2 sensors that they were advised when the vehicle was dropped off, were probably unplugged from the other shop, and to add insult to injury, they charged almost another $20 in shop supplies to plug in those sensors. I requested to speak with the service manager and he refused to take my call. When I told the service advisor that her name would be associated with a negative review, she told me that I was "threatening" her and she didn't like it. I then spoke with the sales manager who was professional but not before requesting to speak with the General Manager who I was instantly told by the receptionist that he was not available. I asked, oh, what time did he leave. She responded, "I don't even know if he's here". How can you tell me he's not available if you haven't even checked. That was the 2nd lie from the staff. I end up getting a call from the "number 2" in charge of the dealership. He was real peach. I explained the situation, disputed how I was being charged almost $20 for a shop supply fee that the dealership has 100% control over, that I was being charged a full hour diag to plug in 2 sensors and merely asked for some understanding and common professional middle ground to be reached. Although I don't agree with a full hour and they could have easily knocked it down to half an hour labor time which still would have been $80 to plug in 2 sensors, he refused. He then began to belittle me and tell me that I was essentially stealing money from my dealership by not charging every customer a shop supply fee regardless of the situation. I responded that my dealership actually encourages not ripping off customers as they were doing to me and that my employer would never charge a customer for something that wasn't provided or performed. In closing, at one last attempt to find a agreeable solution, Mr. #2 in charge wanted to know where I worked, as if it had any relevance to the situation, and told me that he would be leaving ME a review (how that is suppose to happen im still trying to figure out) after I stated that I would leave a review of the dealership outlining my experience that I had. I told him he was being completely unprofessional and he respsonded that I just need to do whatever I need to do. This was probably one of the most negative customer service experiences I have ever had in my life. And yes, again for those who may be scratching their head, thats right, they charged $191 to plug in 2 fan sensors that they were advised in the very beginning were probably unplugged. I dont expect anything for free but I also don't expect to be ripped off and taken advantage of. Please be aware that this place takes pride in ripping off customers, lieing to them, and taking pleasure in it. read more

I have never dealt with a worse service department in my life. I was just trying to get an oil change and leave town ahead of a tropical storm. I was waiting for this oil change for over 2 hours while everyone else in the waiting area has come and gone...twice. This is completely unacceptable. The answer I was given..."we're busy today" and "we only have 2 oil change techs". If this would have been conveyed at the time of check in, I would have gone somewhere else. I was on vacation in the Destin area when my check engine light came on for my 2017 Ridgeline. I was able to make an appointment that day at Gary Smith Honda for them to check it out. They said they needed to replace the fuel injection line and that it would take at least 2 1/2 hours. Since it was close to closing already, they were able to arrange a rental car and start on the repair. They were finished by early the next day and I was off and on my way. We test drove a Honda Civic hatchback and loved it. The sales agent, Isabel was very friendly and informative. If she did not know an answer, she said she'd find out for us, and did. My wife and I just had a HORRIBLE experience with this dealer. We found a new Civic Hatchback that we intended to buy. We were there till late in the evening. So I told the salesman that we would almost certainly buy it, but would like to think about it overnight. I arranged financing and had a check ready to pick up from my credit union the next morning. The salesman checked in with me the next morning, and I told him we would be in that day to make the purchase. Shortly after, he texted me that someone else was looking at the car. So I asked him to hold it, and that I would be there in a half hour with the check, which we were. But by then, they had gone ahead and sold the car. They didn't ask me for a deposit, which I could have given them on the phone, or even contact us to tell us the car had been sold. They just sold it out from under us, without offering us the opportunity to complete the purchase. I get it that he who hesitates is lost, but I am still appalled by the complete lack of professionalism. That's unfortunate, but here's the horrible part: we asked to speak to the manager, thinking that the salesman had screwed up, and that he would want to know about it. He did NOT want to talk to us or hear anything about it. He basically turned into a snarling, angry animal, and berated us on the showroom floor. Needless, to say, I won't be back there again. And, since Gary Smith also owns the Ford dealership in town, I won't be going there either. I see plenty of reviews here that say how terrible and rude the manager there is.
