We were super happy with Gary, who took beautiful engagement and wedding photos for us. First of all, Gary is a great guy. He blended in perfectly with us and our wedding party. Unobtrusive but not "wallpaper". His great personality made us all more comfortable as he snapped photos. For the engagement photos, he drove us all around San Francisco, spending hours with us looking for just the right spots. Some great shots resulted and we felt like this was well-worth the price, in addition to wedding photos. In terms of the actual wedding day shots, we went around with him for a couple of hours prior to the ceremony, with our wedding party, for more shots around SF. All in our wedding party commented about how personable Gary and his assistant were. They also took some unique shots along the way so it wasn't all same ole same ole. During the ceremony and reception, Gary and assistant was everywhere you'd want them to be yet not in the way. And the output was a beautiful set of photos...we are very happy! Hire Gary, and you won't regret it. I found Gary through a friend of a friend who he shot a wedding for and I was completely in love with his style of photography. I looked no further after I saw them and I had to have him. I emailed him to seal the deal and we met quickly after for a consult. He's as natural as it gets, as we talked and he showed me more samples of his work, there was no pressure and he even offered his help if I ever wanted to play around with a pro camera (I was looking into purchasing one at the time). Fast foward to our engagement photoshoot day, Gary was down to come along for the ride all the way down to Santa Cruz Boardwalk, there were a few mishaps there but he's so talented that you could never tell we had any troubles that day when he revealed our photos. My mom, my friends and family were amazed he got my husband to smile for the camera, after dating for 8 years we barely have any decent photos because he is known for his thug mug -_-. Even though our photo shoot ended extremely late that night, Gary was still working and taking photos of our props as we got home. Gary's work is exceptionally beautiful. Not only that, but he's shockingly reasonable as far as price. We booked both our engagement photos and wedding photos with him and were ecstatic with the results. He is so fun to work with and made us feel at ease right away. Gary was the photographer at our wedding and he was perfect. Talent. Gary is definitely not lacking in this area. He has a great eye for beauty. My husband and I are not into the kind of pictures that are super staged and organized according to height order. We wanted real pictures and with Gary we got that and more. We used Gary Sexton Photography for our wedding at CornerStone Sonoma in April and could not be more pleased with our selection. We contacted a handful of photographers early on in the wedding planning process, and instantly connected with Gary. It was after our phone call that we knew he was the photographer for us, especially after we were able to have a detailed phone conversation with him about our needs, worries, and style. Additionally, Gary sent over a full set of multiple weddings he had shot, which helped us get a full picture of the quality of service we would be getting when using Gary Sexton Photography. Over the course of about a year, we emailed Gary with questions, concerns and random inquiries, and nothing was a problem for Gary. He was down-to-earth, honest, and very responsive to our random inquiries, which was greatly appreciated when planning a wedding from 500 miles away. On the days leading up the event, Gary kept in close communication regarding the wedding and we discussed things like inclement weather so that we were fully up to speed on how he would attend to a little wedding day rain. Unfortunately, on the day of the event, we experienced heavy weather, but that didn't stop Gary. He arrived early on the day of ready to source out location options that would work in the rain and came decked out in rain gear, so the weather did not slow him down. Nothing was a problem for Gary on our wedding day and although there were dozens of changes to our initial wedding day plan, he adjusted to the new direction seamlessly. He was as excited about getting our "must have" shots despite the rain and made us feel completely comfortable both before and after the wedding. He was also easy to work with in coordinating the large family photos and quickly gave direction to those involved, but did so in a way that made everyone feel comfortable. Gary paid attention to the details. He paid attention to getting our dog to look at him in the photos, he made a point to play around so our niece would laugh, he took time to ensure that the final product was perfect.Gary worked really hard on the day of our event to ensure that everything was running smoothly and he was able to get all of the must have photos that were true to our vision/his style. He barely took a break to enjoy a meal and worked tirelessly though the entire day. We could not be more appreciative for his excellent service. The wedding planning business is all about the relationships, and it was clear to us that Gary has strong business relationships in the community and could work seamlessly with all those involved in our big day. This, in turn, made our planning process and day of much easier and more collaborative. We would highly recommend Gary Sexton Photography to any client and we will miss working with him. When we received our full set of photos we were blown away. There were so many phenomenal images, too many to pick to have printed. Gary was able to get all of the images we wanted, and then some. I was just looking at some pictures and felt compelled to write this review. Gary came to my daughter's preschool a year and a half ago to take "school photos" of the kids. I was expecting standard goofy kid photos. My daughter (who had just turned 4) can't smile on command and makes this weird grimace face. I didn't hire Gary to photograph my wedding reception, but maybe I should have! I DID hire him for the photobooth, and it was beyond perfect. First of all, his reclaimed wood photobooth is just plain rad. Secondly, it's flexible if you want a traditional curtained booth with a bench, or open for more people. We can't possibly convey how great of a photographer Gary in a simple Yelp review. Gary and his team did our engagement shoot and wedding photography and we cannot be happier with his work. Gary possesses an energetic, fun, and warm personality that immediately puts you at ease. He is easy to talk to and had our best interests in mind the entire time. Before the wedding, we talked to and met up with about 10 different photographers in search for the perfect photographer for our wedding. Although they all seemed like great photographers by just looking at the select samples on their websites, when we asked to see an entire wedding album, we noticed that most did indeed take some great pictures, but most of the others in the complete wedding album were still good, but not great. Gary's albums, on the other hand, were filled with nothing but outstanding quality pictures. Anybody can take a few good shots out of a thousand, but few can consistently take good shots all day/night long. Gary somehow manages to do it. For our engagement shoot, Gary showed us that he is a true artist. He didn't just snap pictures in the cliche poses, he was very creative and took some of the best unique pictures we have seen. His turnaround time for these was also great compared to some of the other estimates we were getting from other photographers, and again, he didn't just give us 5 awesome pictures and 50 mediocre ones, he gave us nothing but awesome pictures. For our wedding, Gary went well above and beyond his duties to make our day perfect. He is a true professional who knows what he is doing. He continued proving how talented he really is. I can't say enough about how talented Gary is. He is extremely good at managing the whole day to ensure we got all the shots we wanted to get. We had a very tight timeline all day, but Gary managed to ensure we got all the family pictures by corralling everyone at the right times. When it comes to portraits, we are usually pretty awkward and don't know what to do, but Gary did an outstanding job at getting us into poses and directing us while still making everything look completely natural. And again, his shots are so creative. Even though he spent over 10 hours with us with virtually no break, he was fun, energetic, and enthusiastic the entire day/night. Really just a great guy to be around. When we got the pictures back, which was extremely fast, we noticed that he must be some kind of camera ninja. He was basically everywhere at the same time and we didn't even notice him. He not only got awesome shots of us, but also of all of our guests. Again, we didn't expect every single one of the pictures he gave us to be great, but they were. Each and every one of them were amazing and could easily make it in a magazine. He doesn't just dump thousands of pictures on your lap, he selects the best, processes them, and still provides you with a ton of high-quality images. Again, we couldn't be happier and can't imagine having anyone else photograph our wedding. As a piece of advice, if you are looking for a photographer, be sure to ask to view a complete album, not just the highlights, and be sure to have a face-to-face to get a sense of their personality and style.
