We were brought to the back right away, where my daughter got her makeup done and had soft curls added to her hair for the full glam experience. Before we even realized it, we were 97 photos into the shoot! I went here last week for my passport & visa photos and cannot say enough good things! I first took passport photos with the owner, Patty, and then took my visa photos with Flavia. I guarantee you won't get this fantastic level of service at your usual passport photo spots. Here's why: -OPTIONS: they took MULTIPLE photos of me and let me choose my favorite. Considering your passport photo is something you hang onto for 10 years, I certainly appreciate this! My visa photo also had very particular requirements, so it was incredibly helpful to have options to make sure I checked off all requirements. -CARE: Patty encouraged me to add some more lip color because the photos can have a decent degree of contrast and I'm pale (fyi - you give colors photos to the passport agency, but it comes out black & white on your actual passport nowadays - a surprise to me!). She also grabbed me a tissue to pat my forehead because it was reflecting some light lol. My ears needed to be visible for my visa photo, and Flavia helped me out so much with trying to move my blonde highlights out of the way, because my ears didn't really show unless my darker brown hair was behind my ears. Overall, these ladies CARE and do everything they can to get your photos exactly how you want/need them. They even directed me on pushing my head out forward so my double chin would be a little more snatched! FEDEX IS NOT GONNA DO THAT FOR YOU. -ACCURACY: I can now confirm that my passport photos and Chinese visa photos were accepted by the passport agency and Chinese consulate, respectively. Before deciding on this studio, i looked at other photos spots (the usual FedEx, staples, post office, AAA, etc) and saw many other Yelp reviews indicating that their photos were rejected for various reasons. Here, you'll do it once and do it right. - MORE CARE: I initially went in for only my passport photos, casually mentioning to Flavia where I was traveling to. THANK GOODNESS I told her!! Because she asked me if I also needed photos for my Chinese visa, and I had no idea I even needed that (my bad, it's my first time getting a visa!). I spent maybe 15 min on their couch frantically researching what were the requirements for the visa photo and then we got to work on those photos. I'm on a very short timeline, so thanks for looking out, Flavia!!!! It turns out that I only needed a digital photo for this particular visa, so I took a photo of my printed photo and it worked out perfectly. -FAST: I walked right in and they were ready to take my photos before I finished putting all my things down and patting down my hair. Photos print out immediately after too. And best of all - no appointment needed! I was a walk-in :) -PRICING: Pricing seems competitive with other places. But considering the excellent service, it's a steal. If I remember correctly, it was $17 for 2 passport photos, and $30 for 4 visa photos (these particular visa photos are a smaller size than passport photos, so they print out 4 per page, hence the higher price than passport photos). Yesterday, I was walking in the neighborhood and just walked passed this professional Studio. Realizing I am two weeks away from an expired Passport, I ventured in to see if they do passport photos. To my surprise they did and it was only $15. I am always happy to give my business to a local owner rather than say Walgreens. Plus, the lady had professional equipment and took another picture when I asked her to. Super nice, very welcoming, and I didn't have to wait. 5 minutes and I was out of there. BTW they were also very detailed asking which country are the photos meant for and they had all the dimensions on file (I double checked anyway). It looks like a lot of people take class photos or just nice photos of their kids here. The lady in the front desk recommended a basic $149.99 package (they will take 30min to 1 hr doing muiltiple shots and let you pick 1 picture) for my son. My daughter had an appointment for Senior pictures over the weekend. It was first class from the meeting moment we arrived. Discussion about the different poses she was looking to take was noted and which backdrop. As she was given a soft glam look, they were well on their way to an excellent photo shoot. genuinely the best first photo shoot ive ever experienced. my mom booked an appointment for me for my senior portraits and right when I stepped in I knew it was going to be an amazing experience. they ladies were so nice welcoming and hyping me up every chance they had. I pretty much had full creative control. they did my makeup amazingly and did my hair fantasticly. they helped me every step of the way for my photos to come out amazing I was genuinely shocked. I even got to pick out the photos I liked in between each shoot and was given the option to retake if I didn't like it. LIKED: She seems to be always improving her operations as she said she was going to paint the walls white in order to prevent accidentally capturing the brown wall in photos. HISTORY:She says the business is 100+ years old, and that her mother made the purchase as the 4th owner of the business. Doré is amazing! I went there 10 years ago to take glam shots/sweet 16 pictures and recently went back to take more photos now that I'm older. Patty and Flavia are super welcoming, patient and great at what they do. One of the backgrounds I had chosen for my photos didn't compliment me very well, so they were honest and took the time to look for something that would suit me better. They tried different things, lights and techniques to make sure my photos were beautiful. They are very attentive to detail and made me feel like a star. I have used Dore Studio several times for creative "out of the box" portraits and am always amazed at Patty and her staff's professionalism, enthusiasm, and ability to help recognize my vision. They have a great selection of boas and costume jewelry too! Patty has extensive experience with lighting and composition, and it shows in every portrait. I don't consider myself photogenic and yet she always manages to capture me looking like a model. She gives very good direction as to posing too. Mercy is a very talented hair and makeup artist and has been able to accurately replicate the reference looks that I bring with me. Dore studio still has its charm I went there 20 years ago to get my graduation and glamour photos. Was up on the wall for many years and my brothers took their graduation photos there too. And today I was able to witness my sister get the same treatment. Their hair and makeup is on point and the pictures are to die for.
