I came to Gary H Chan due to a referral I was given from my dental professionals. I needed a wisdom teeth removal for all 4 teeth. From someone who has had some less amazing dental experiences elsewhere, I was very happy being lucky enough to meet Dr. Chan for this procedure. Not only the Dr. but his admin and staff as well. The pre-op was very personal and informative, I spoke to him in person, learned more about him, watched a very detailed video with all concerns that could exist, and could ask anything I wanted with supportive responses. He is a very smart and experienced surgeon that did not hesitate to explain everything to me in excessive detail. I was very prepared before the operation because of this. The staff was incredibly nice and understanding in every situation, called me ahead of the procedure, and was very efficient throught the paperwork process. Not only were they skilled in the surgery alone but they were also incredible at making a calm and enjoyable environment, especially someone like me who has not really had experience with surgery or anesthesia before. I was impressed with everything and how quickly they were able to finish the process without any complications whatsoever even though my bottom teeth were heavily impacted and some teeth even had damage. I woke up fully complacent, in zero pain, and ready to head home as if nothing even happened. Went home with good instructions and was able to take care of myself in a way that it is barely an inconvenience. The doctor himself even called me later in the day to check in with me and made sure everything was okay. My daughter needed an expose and bond for a compacted canine that never came down on its own. I had called several oral surgeons but I didn't feel they answered all my questions. When I contacted Dr. Chan's practice the receptionist was very nice and answered all my questions. The costumer service alone helped me decide this was where I needed to take my daughter. I was referred to Dr CHan by my general dentist for extraction of a broken tooth that would have been difficult to do without general anesthesia given the tooth's location (lower molar) and the need for bone grafting. After developing a crack in my lower left wisdom tooth, I was advised by my dentist to have it extracted to avoid a possible abscessed tooth. I asked for a referral to an oral surgeon and was given a referral to Dr. Gary Chan. During the appointment Dr. Chan ordered X-rays and showed them to me and explained the procedure along with the usual risks that can be associated with any type of physical or dental surgery. Lastly, we discussed whether it was "wise" to have the opposing upper wisdom tooth extracted as well, in order to avoid the "super erupt" condition. Dr. Chan calmly and carefully explained the pros and cons as well as some "best practice" dental recommendations. i subsequently decided to have both upper and lower wisdom teeth extracted. Sure, it was a bit more costly, but in the long run, I would be able to avoid the possibility of the upper molar "super eruption", would undergo sedation only once, and most importantly, eliminate the necessity of having to return for an additional extraction in the future. My surgery, last week, went extremely well. I have experienced absolutely no pain, bleeding, nor swelling from either upper or lower extraction. I had no nausea from the anesthesia and only a very vague and minor sensation on the inside upper and lower cheek, most likely from the typically used surgical tools. Would I recommend Dr. Chan to others? Absolutely! Would I give him a 5 star Review? Absolutely! My impression of Dr. Gary Chan is that he is an extremely skilled surgeon, along with being a very thoughtful and caring individual. He is very sensitive to patient needs and yet very candid in his approach. He has been gifted with what was once described as an excellent "bedside manner". The same sensitivity and care is also evident in his office and assistant staff who do the best they can to make the patient as relaxed and comfortable as possible in what would otherwise be considered "extremely trying" conditions. His care and consideration for patients was further demonstrated by a follow-up personal phone call to see how I was recuperating. read more

Very good experience with Dr. Chan .My 21 year old daughter had 4 wisdom teeth removed. She has Type 1 diabetes so I was extremely anxious. I kept asking questions and calling the office after procedure a few times . Not once did I feel like I was annoying the staff. made me feel that it was okay to ask questions even if they were the same ones over and over. I was not only pleased by the fast scheduling of appointments but by the friendly and knowledgeable staff and Dr. Chan. Dr. Chan is kind, funny, and makes you feel welcomed. He takes his time with you and to make you understand the procedure and any concerns you may have. The procedure itself went smoothly, I did not feel any pain or discomfort and after the surgery he even has one of his assistants walk you out to the car. It's not often that I will sit down and write a review these days. Well actually I write them I just haven't finished one or posted one in quite a while. But emergency care, amazing and compassionate and affordable on top of that, deserves me coming out of semi Yelp retirement. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, have had it since I was a young girl. I'm not usually stunned by healthcare. I have a few favorites but I don't meet many people who wow me these days. As of a few weeks ago now, I feel differently and it happened by the way of a team effort between an incredible Dentist and Oral Surgeon. I have lived in Redlands for a few years. It seems to be a land of Dentists. One on every street, on every corner, sometimes multiple offices. After a very, very long day and night of calling our own Dentist and many others I was coming up empty handed for a family member in severe need of Dental work. I thought my knowledge of insurance and emergency services would come in handy but I was striking out left and right. 18 times if anyone is counting. So before throwing in the towel I contacted 1 800 Dentist who put me in contact with Dr. Tadha. Shannon, at Dr. Tadha's office listened to our predicament with real interest and empathy and sprang into action. She got my family member in to see him right away and when they deemed it an emergency they couldn't handle fully they gave us proper medications and made our next appointment with an equally amazing Oral surgeon. Dr. Chan, his staff there, including Mia, Georgia and Cameron were more than health providers that day. They were comforting, knowledgeable and accommodating. Dr. Chan even called us the evening after the surgery to check in. He's charming and so smart it should be intimidating but instead it's just reassuring which is what you need pre and post op just as much as you need medication. There are a lot of choices for medical care in Redlands. There are an awful lot of way to mess it up. Not here. Here you are wanted, cared for and as close to a family feeling as one can possibly get. If you can choose Dr. Chan, do your mouth a favor and forget the competition. read more

Absolutely amazing people that work here, Dr Chan hands down the best person to go to. I was very skeptical about getting my wisdom teeth out and he told me that the sooner the better and had a great conversation about doing it so and they made sure prior to the surgery when I went in that everything was good and normal and it was done so quick and easy. Woke up and thought it wasn't even done and even called the staff many times for questions the week after and not once were they bothered rather they seem more welcoming of the calls and just amazed and how much they cared and were polite to my concerns. Not to mention Dr Chan called me the night of even tho he seemed super busy and made sure I was doing good and okay ! Also called for a post op due to unusual swelling, and scheduled me very next day right as the opened and he addressed the minor issue and I went on with my day and feel a lot better about my teeth then before. I recently had all four wisdom teeth abstracted. Needless to say I was extremely nervous and anxious awaiting my appointment day as I had never been put to sleep in my 37 years. I was confident in Dr. Chan's skill set, but still nervous as to be expected. I have no idea why I stressed out so much. This was the absolute best experience I could have had considering the degree of my procedure and then some. The staff all made sure I was comfortable and at ease the day of. Dr. Chan has to be the absolute best in his field because I went under with ease and came to in a great mood without any pain or swelling. Still, the day after my procedure I do not have any swelling or on going pain. I am taking my medication as scheduled, but never could have imagined my outcome being so pleasant. Not sure if Dr. Chan will in fact be able to take care of multiple teeth extractions needed by my husband, as he has very complicated medical issues. Dr. explained everything to us in detail, including why the procedure is high risk and what his concerns are. He also mentioned another option for the extraction and advised that he would give referral if we need to go that direction. After seeing 2 other Oral Surgeons, Dr. Chan was the only one that really explained all facets of the procedure and what made it so complicated. Dr. Chan's staff is extremely polite and helpful and though we do not have any thing finalized yet, our meeting with Dr. Chan was extremely helpful and beneficial.
