Got me into a loan for a house then underwriters pulled the plug at the last second after everything was approved and we were supposed to sign the following day. Do yourself a favor and don't use this man if you want your house to Close. It was one bait and switch after another with nothing to show for it except higher interest rates and points. He strung me and the sellers along for almost 2 months. And a lot of thrashing and wasting my time with things that as a so-called loan professional he should have known. Even the real estate agent was shocked at his lack of expertise. On a previous loan he got for me the interest rate was not so good and I was told it was going to be no Prepayment penalty then found out that if I sold place before 6 months I would need to Pay his Commission myself over $9K. Found out too late or I would never have used him again. Incredibly stressful and horrible experience really was put through hell by this man and I lost the house and my deposit because of him. This guy was the worst re-finance "professional" I've ever had to deal with. Recommended by a friend, so we stuck with him... what a mistake. Are you ready for the evidence: 3.5 months to re-fi and 2 different signings because of his incompetence. I have 82 emails to prove it... all of which are from me to get answers from this fool. The guy doesn't understand PERS and STIRS, so he hounded my wife's school Financial Officer for a week. Not cool. His excuse: "the new lending requirements"... hilarious. I have 3 guys in my Fire Department who did Cash Call and funded in 3 days... over Christmas!!!! Hey Garry- this is why you're going out of business. UPDATE: as of yesterday evening 10/15/15, Garry not only emailed my wife to whine about my Yelp review and pleaded for me to take it off, he sent the TITLE OFFICER my emails where I was less than complimentary. HOW PROFESSIONAL IS THAT? A true narcissist only does that and the officer was blown away by the entire process of this loan by Garry. She didn't care about my emails, but was truly aghast at how he blew this loan up 3 times before it was finalized. Also, Garry is on the pay roll with our lender, so he threw them under the bus by blaming them for the mistakes, when he is an employee of the Lender. It says he is an employee of their Novato office on the website and that they "protect consumer privacy".... Looks like Garry broke that confidentiality. Shady. What a "team player!" Add all the friends you want Garry to Yelp, but no professional forwards emails to Title Companies to try a cover your own failures. That's filthy and slimy. read more

Garry Shaw was great for us to work with to obtain a refi on our home twice in 3 years. We had worked with 2 other mortgage brokers who were unable to help us obtain a more favorable loan because we are self employed and have a variable commission income. In today's world of regulations it is almost impossible to obtain a refi on a jumbo loan in our circumstances. Garry was creative and patient -we did not mind the time it took because our game plan is to stay put in our home for awhile. There was a lot of paperwork which is to be expected but Garry always walked us through what and how to do the work to reach our end goal.
