She called Garrison &Garrison to get a second opinion. Come to find out she only needed one part that cost about $70. So I called the same company to get second option too. He found nothing wrong with my equipment. So I canceled Airserve. They are usually very nice but always trying to sell you something. BEWARE!

My mom almost got taken by Airserv last week for over $16,000, after having already fallen victim once a couple years ago for ductwork she didn't actually need to replace. Apparently all their sales folks work on commission which makes sense in the context of their "the sky is falling" routine every time they come out. Last week they came out for routine inspection and to address an issue with one of her units. One thing led to another and they had her believing she needed to spend over $16,000 on an entirely new system--on her second unit, not even the unit they came out to address--and that her current one could "go out at any moment." There's some rust on a part within the condenser unit, it could use a hard start kit, and the air handler blower assembly has dust that could be cleaned off (with a vacuum). Fortunately she called me before Airserv did any work or she would have been in a really bad situation. But they made her feel as though "for only a little more, you could buy a brand new system and all your troubles would go away." That "little more" was actually about $12,000 over all the other fixes they "recommended," in excess of the actual things that SHOULD be done--on the unit they didn't even come out to check. They also completely misdiagnosed the problem with the unit they were actually supposed to look at, quoting her over $700 for a fix that, in hindsight, would not have solved her problem. But they said if she bought the $16,000 system they would write off the $700+ fix for the other unit. We got two more opinions from other HVAC companies in town who are locally owned and operated. Both told us there was no way she needed a new unit. And one of the reps used to work at Airserv, he actually installed the ductwork for my mom and confirmed everything I stated above. The smaller unit ended up being fixed for less than $200 in just labor alone. I bought a 5-2-1 hard start kit on Amazon for less than $50 and installed it in 10 minutes. There are so many better, locally owned and operated HVAC companies in the Huntsville area that you could give your business to. Please don't add an immense amount of stress to your life by working with Airserv.
