This place is amazing! This was originally my "second opinion" place. After being severely…read moremisdiagnosed at a different dentist in Valpo, I was desperate for a second opinion. Dr Vijay was great. My wisdom tooth removal was quick and utterly painless. Honestly the little shot of numbing agent was the hardest part and it wasn't bad at all. The office staff has been so kind and they got me in early both times. Although this is a much further drive for me coming from Michigan City, this is WORTH it. Good dentists are hard to come by and the chair side manner here is exceptional. Thank you.

BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT HIDDEN CHARGES. I took my daughter here for orthodontic treatment- Invisalign…read morein April 2025. I liked the doctor & the dental hygienist & they sat me down & gave me the treatment plan for her. My daughter has primary & secondary private dental/orthodontic coverage. She is under my plan through work as well as her dad's. The office submitted approval requests for the insurance. My insurance covered $2000, her dad's covered $1500. They told me after insurance, that my portion for 6months of Invisalign treatment was $2700. I paid it in full that same day & agreed to the treatment. The agreement was signed on iPad so maybe that was my mistake for not asking for printed copies. BOTH insurance policies paid out their full portions, totaling $3500. So for 6mos of Invisalign, they received $6200. The treatment completed- her teeth aren't perfect but they are better. A few months later I started getting bills. I got texts almost daily on my phone, as well as emails. They also sent messages to my teenage daughter's cell phone. I got a call from Dawn in the office who was EXTREMELY rude & said that insurance wasn't paying & I need to pay the remaining balance. I asked what the balance was & was told she didn't know bc she wasn't in front of a computer. I asked how much insurance paid & again, she didn't know & couldn't provide me with an emailed statement. I called the insurance company really upset & was told they had in fact paid out in FULL. I called the office back & told them that insurance claimed to have paid. Dawn could not verify that with me. THEN I got emails from Lily who told me that yes, they were mistaken & the insurance HAD paid out in full but there was a balance of $1,369.00. I asked how that could be if the insurance paid in full & I'd paid my agreed portion of $2700?? She told me that she doesn't set the cost & that is the remaining balance & it wasnt up for negotiation & if I didn't pay it immediately they would send me to collections. This is such a shady way to do business. They ran insurance benefits before hand, KNEW what the cost estimates were, told me my remaining portion, which I agreed to & paid for, then came back months later & said that I needed to pay another huge sum of money. The treatment plan hadn't changed. It wasn't more complex. They just added on more than $1,300 after the treatment was completed for unknown reasons. This will absolutely be a fight.

Let me first say that I struggle with posting this review because Dr. Richter is the best dentist…read moreI've ever had. The office staff are always polite and professional. I was getting on the transplant list for a kidney but I needed dental clearance. I contacted a charity called Donated Dental who told me that Dr. Richter will be donating his services. I was blessed that I got free dentures and my teeth pulled. He even found a surgeon to donate his time to remove the one he couldn't. I saw him maybe 5 times for fittings. A year later I received a call from the dentist office saying that they received paperwork for another transplant clearance. I still didn't have medical or dental insurance with my job because I had not paid my first copay. When they called me I assumed that it was under Donated Dental. A couple of day after the transplant clearance I went in for a fitting. When it was over they handed me a bill for almost 7 hundred dollars. I'm on disability and they knew I went through donated dental for help. I dont know why when they called that they didn't let know this was out of pocket The lady who is very nice made me a little intimidated. I tried to explain but she just stared and said nothing. I went into my wallet to give my dental card and prayed it went through. Later that day I got a call saying it wasn't valid. If I had the money I would have paid them because they are so nice. 6 months later I was in court with a lawsuit demanding money. I had my wages garnished but for $1,200. I dont understand how a great thing could go so wrong. I wanted to do something nice for him but couldn't afford it. I instead i wrote a letter to the newspaper who published it. In the letter I thanked him and his staff and the service I would like to think that was a communication disconnect. I thought anything dealing with my transplant was through Donated Dental. First time being sued. I'm not upset but I am disappointed. I dont get it. They knew my situation and still sued. I work part-time and with this pandemic found it hard to keep my head above water. No hard feelings. Being garnished on a part-time job is rough. I would have fought it but between dialysis and working I couldn't defend myself. I hope he reads this and know I never meant to stiff him. I'm not that type of person. Again thanks you Richter Dental. I noticed that they responded to all if the reviews except mine. The reason why is that I totally told the truth and no one will address why they did this to me. I contacted Donated Dental who tried to help me get my money back but wasn't able to because they are the go between. They did look at the paperwork I sent them and saw clear as day that on the sheet for liability, I wrote donated dental. They did encourage me to seek restitution through a Civil suit. Donated Dental says that at no time was i supposed to pay for anything. I would like a response telling me why I was sued and garnished for a service that was supposed to be through charity. 1
