Food: Gardenworld offers an unbelievable range of food, from breakfasts, to pies, to main meals for lunch, to cakes. The meals are generous portions and are filling, hearty and tasting. We've tried various breakfast dishes, sausage rolls and a variety of the cakes and pastries. Sausage rolls are very good, and I'd highly recommend these. Breakfasts are good, but technique on cooking certain items (eggs in particular) is a bit hit and miss. The cakes and pastries are generally enjoyable.
Atmosphere/service: The cafe is a really interesting, quirky space with lots to look at. It's popular with older people and families, so be prepared for lots of children. It does have a separate lounge area, where alcohol is served, if you want to sit away from the kids. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, and is typically busy and lively. Tables can often be reserved and you may struggle to get a walk-in at peak times, although people don't tend to stay too long so the waits aren't so bad. The cafe doesn't offer full table service, and doesn't seem to zone waitresses, so service can feel a bit disjointed, especially when they are busy, but it's generally prompt.
Would I recommend it: Yes. It's a real highlight in this area. The menu offers something for everyone with light bites and meals to satisfy the largest of appetites. It always has a really nice atmosphere, with friends catching up, or families out with their young children. There'a a few things they could polish and tighten up, but just keep reminding yourself that this is a garden centre cafe, and not a restaurant, and you'll have a really pleasant experience. read more
