I always come to this spot for the garlic chicken! Soooo good! When the cravings come, it's an easy drive from work. I've never had an issue eating here. The Asian lady that usually takes the order is wonderful. The older Latino gentleman is also great. Today, I ate here and there seems to be a new guy. Bigger, taller guy, with long hair that was in a tiny bun, and has a goatee. He wasn't the best. He took my order without taking any notes. Initially, I was kind of impressed as he just confidently nodded as I took my order. My main plate came, but the other things that I ordered didn't. I waited sound 5 mins to see if the kitchen was just backed up. So I asked him again, he said ok. I waited again and it still didn't come. He seemed to have been distracted with other tables and talking to everyone . So, I ended up asking the older Latino guy for it and the rest of my orders came out quickly. Then came to paying the bill and asking for a box and a bag. The exact same thing! I asked him a second time for the box and a bag. It never came. At one point, he even sat down on a seat with a person that seemed to be a buddy of his. All this while I was patiently waiting for the things I need so I can get back to work. That was a little frustrating. So, again, I reserved to asking the Latino older man, and he gave it to me right away. Give the older man a raise and a promotion. We got the: - Loco Moco (I loved how juicy the meat patty was, this is my fave) - Assorted Tempura - Kalbi with Spam Fried Rice (Kalbi was good, but I really liked the Mac Potato Salad) - Spamasubi (meat was too thin and overall was dry) - Oxtail Soup (delicious on a cold night) The employees that work here are amazing and very nice. I appreciate them for letting us celebrate my sister's birthday cake in the restaurant since the bowling alley itself wouldn't let us. I rated this a 2 star review because of confusing signage and the rate it costs to bowl here was too high for my reason to commit to a few games. It's been so long since I've been bowling. Coming into this place, I had expectations that bowling would not be as expensive. I was wrong. The typical costs to bowl here are $10 per game per person and $5 for show rental. They have a sign that reads package 1 ONE game + shoe rental = $15 Package 2 is TWO games + shoes = $25 Considering package one and package 2 is exactly what it would cost of this didn't say "package" on them doesn't make sense. A package usually benefits the consumer to some extent, not just point out the obvious. It can be deceiving to patrons who aren't quick to catch on making them think this is a great deal when in fact package 1 and 2 is the normal charge to play 1 or 2 games with a show rental. And then $10 a game afterwards for a pair would be quick to exhaust. we would probably hit 5 games within 30-40min. So really, $5 shoe rental plus 5 games per person at $10 each person...$110 in a matter of 30-40min. between just 2 players. NOPE! Won't comeback here for bowling. In the other hand, their restaurant inside was packed, so maybe I'll comeback just for breakfast or lunch. read more

Heard about this old school bowling alley that does bowl all you can nights so we decided to check it out. We've always had fun going bowling but prefer to go to these no-frills type of places so we can have an inexpensive date. Gardena Bowl is clearly popular in South Bay. It was packed and the first time we came they were already sold out for bowl all you can. We were told we should come earlier to reserve a lane for the night so the next time we wanted to go bowling we decided to do that and was successful. The lanes and equipment themselves are decently maintained. The restrooms are clean. The bar is not much to speak of but beer and well drinks are cheap. Bowling Alley's are becoming extinct, and it's a shame. I liked Gardena Bowl for the location and logistics of getting to a bowling alley in the South Bay Beach Cities. It's rather small, I think it has 8 pairs, or 16 individual lanes, so there can be a wait. Although some have made comment that the customer demographics are inner city urban, but it's not 'hoody, and has a family friendly atmosphere, we went on a weekday daytime in the Summer. The staff was helpful and friendly. People who bowl here are experienced for the most part and practice the league etiquette when bowling and yielding for each other when there's a bowler to the left or the right and interchanging to assure respecting not being rude or distracting. I like that. The rates are okay, on par with today's FMV (fair market value) rates per line (game) and for shoe rentals. What impressed me a lot was the PRO SHOP. I brought my own bowling ball and the finger plug inserts came out during play. The PRO SHOP glued them back in FREE OF CHARGE graciously. That's impressive in my opinion in today's world !!! read more

I bowled here for a friend's birthday party. It's very affordable, and the equipment and shoe rentals were in good condition. The one qualm I have is that the bowling alley is mostly for bowling leagues, so you have to time when you want to come very carefully, and be expected to be shutout because others already filled up the lanes. They have a room with pool tables inside too at least to help pass the time (or if your game gets cut early because a league is coming). You can of course also get food at the famous diner/coffee shop inside the building too. Overall, it's a classic old-school bowling alley, but disproportionately geared towards bowling leagues than casual hanging out. Just plan ahead if you are coming from far away for any potential backup plans if you came solely to bowl. read more

We waited in the bar area, ordered many many many drinks and played songs on the jukebox then we got pool tables and started playing pool for some hours while talking then we bought 2 lanes of bowling and bowled like 3-4 games and it was fun! This is probably the best looking bowling alley I've ever been too. It's a bit small, but the lanes are very nice, oiled well, and using modern software. I especially love the prices! This old school Hawaiian style diner is a fixture in the bowling alley. It's casual and clean just as one would expect in a diner. If you appreciate Hawaiian diner this is quite authentic. I had the Teri weiners with grilled onions that reminds me of my childhood comfort food. The potato-mac salad was seasoned perfectly Hawaiian style and the sticky rice is just like home. I tasted the chili (beanless) over rice with fried weiners on top and it was delicious with a bit of heat to it. The garlic chicken was a lot like karaage chicken more than garlic but was sweet and tasty and plentiful. Parking is free and easy. read more

I came here with my wife and in-laws the other day around 630 pm and we were able to get a lane right away! Prices were very reasonable and the front desk staff was very helpful , friendly and informative. The crowd there is pretty nice too. A place I would come back and bring my toddler for sure. They also have an attached coffee shop/restaurant that I want to try next time. We ordered a few drinks from the bar which were pretty cheap too! This place should be a landmark! Gardena Bowl is a hidden gem that has a retro/vintage type feel to it but not so much that it's ragged and run down. The bowling alley is frequented by senior league bowlers. To the uninitiated can be intimidating but I roll in with my black widow and a hollow spare ball in case I need to tone it down :). Good vibes and friendly environment make this place family friendly. This place isn't a modern joint to get lit with your coworkers but more the place you take your grandpa and he whoops your butt in the 10th frame. Also a great place to train if you're thinking about be serious with bowling. The lanes are usually well oiled and well kept, the downside is there aren't that many of them. Prices are competitive nothing too expensive. Highly recommend ordering food from the Cafe it's got some bomb Hawaiian/Asian food! Came here on a Sunday around 4pm and it was busy, but we were still able to get a lane for us two. The employees are laidback and friendly. Credit cards accepted. They do have food and alcohol available for purchase for you to enjoy at the lanes. Free parking lot available. If there's overflow, you can park in the surrounding residential area. I may have over did it but I'm glad to have the best of both worlds. The gravy had a good balance an savory kick. The beef patty was delicious and moist. Now for the grand show - a well balance of kimchi and bacon. A very fulfilling dish Spam Musubi (Recommend) Also delicious! A long musubi roll bu actually chopped to four snacking pieces. Great bowling alley. Came here in on a Sunday morning and packed with some league bowlers but just practice. Games were 4 dollars and shoes were 3 dollars. Finally tried this place and glad we did. The service was quick, attentive and friendly. We sat here for lunch and I notice that everyone who walked in for a pick up were regulars. I thought it was nice to see. The food was really good. I ordered the chicken katsu and if you aren't sharing or have a big appetite I suggest getting the side order version. I didn't think that much of it and definitely could of done less. But food didn't go to waste and I did finish the plate so its not impossible. My fiance ordered the loco moco, a savory, flavorful plate. The meat just fell apart in a good way. This place is located obviously in the bowling alley. I feel like I walked into a time machine and went back to the '80s. It's a bunch of old people and their bowling clubs and bowling teams. The place is old and ratty, the people are nice, but it's so dirty and everybody is smoking right outside the front door. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and joined the waitlist for a lane. Time passed quickly and by the time our entire party arrived, we were able to access our lane. We paid in advance for 2 games and the time passed quickly! The venue is on the smaller side with lots of light, but such a great time! There are plenty of seats as people rotate for their turns, and the screen menu is easy to navigate. Our lane wasn't very oiled so some of our party had to adjust their curve bowls, but other than that, no other complaints.
