This school has been amazing for our 2 boys. We moved here from Texas a year ago and immediately…read moreenrolled the boys upon meeting the teaching staff. We came from a Montessori school prior, so it was at least familiar materials and concepts for the boys during a rather difficult transition. The stability and structure of the school gives my boys great comfort. The teachers are consistent, loving, and work very hard in the classroom to help each child. What have we accomplished with this school? - My 5-year-old is reading. Very well. He is also a proficient writer, budding speller, and excelling in math. His social skills have had a chance to flourish and he enjoys helping kids younger than him learn things he has already mastered. - My 3-year-old is becoming a writer, mastering letter sounds, learning practical life skills, working on social skills, and making friends. - Personally, I feel that I have been given tools to help my kids at home through meaningful conferences, I have made friends (difficult after a big move), back up and support for any of my kids' challenging behaviors, and peace of mind that that are in a loving environment during the school day. This is a school, not a daycare, so if you are looking for flexible hours, flexible tuition, or zero responsibility on your end this is not the place for you. It is a collaborative effort between home and school. That being said, the teaching staff/ owner have gone above and beyond for my kids more than once. We are in our second year here (Kindergarten year and 2nd-year Montessori) and we will keep attending for the foreseeable future. Final thought: I am DELIGHTED at how my older son is progressing through his kindergarten year. I am so incredibly glad that we chose the third year of Montessori for him! So if you are looking for a kindergarten alternative, MOP will not disappoint!

The teachers at Montessori of Plainfield are AMAZING. My son started school as a young 3 year old who was very shy and timid, with his thumb in his mouth and brown blankie by his side. By the end of the first week brown blankie stayed home and he was excited to go to school each day. This school helped his personality shine through and he is now Mr. Social and loves making new friends, a drastic change from when we started. He will enter kindergarten reading at a 2nd/3rd grade level and 2nd grade level math. This school has been well worth the investment in the foundation for my son's education. I highly recommend this school!

Montessori Children's Garden (MCG) is a truly amazing place. My husband and I are so grateful to…read morehave chosen MCG for our son's education! He was there from 2.5 to 6 years old. Not only was he incredibly well prepared to start school in IPSD 204 from an academic standpoint, but also socially and emotionally. The school is very well run - with top notch communication and a staff of talented, caring teachers. The staff put on regular education nights for parents, and with no judgment, really helped me identify how to be the best mom I can be. While in the Kindergarten program, our son was asked to be a leader in the classroom and take on more responsibilities. It was so wonderful to watch him thrive and be cared for by an entire staff of smart, devoted, and empathetic women. Thank you so much, MCG, for giving our son the best start! I can't help but wonder how wonderful the world would be if every child got this kind of start. MCG is truly a special place!

As soon as we toured MCG I knew this was the place for us and it is honestly one of the best decisions we have ever made. Our kids grew their love of learning in a supportive and loving environment. Each and every teacher and staff member was amazing. Our children were given opportunities to grow and develop academically and social-emotionally. When they started attending public school, each of my children was ahead academically. One of our boys can be a bit rigid and challenging, and his teacher Ms. Jennie worked with him so well that he soared academically and behaviorally. Their hours are good for working parents and they even have fun summer programs.

All the staff at school are very welcoming and deeply caring for every child at school. both my children are completely different, yet I see a huge progress in academic and social development. Academically, our son's concentration skills, ability to hold a pencil and actually write his name, recognition of sounds and letters, and understanding of numbers have improved dramatically. He has been introduced to concepts I previously thought were beyond his age - but he has embraced them, and retained them: continents, flags for our countries, historical figures, planets, environmental topics (like the importance of saving water), parts of the root, even words and songs in a second language (French). He takes great pride in whatever "works" he has brought home for us to see - from workbook pages to a handmade card or picture. Personally, our son has developed valuable social skills being with his peers and teachers each day. At home, we see a newfound sense of peace in his independence. He dresses himself and gets ready for the day with little parental help, will pick up his toys and put them in their proper places without being asked (much of the time!), and is a cheerful participant around the home-offering to help me with any task I happen to be working on. I feel my son is safe in the school when I leave him for class and find him happily playing on the secure and somewhat secluded playground with his friends and teachers at pickup. Ms. Siji is always accessible and has been very approachable for any concern we have faced this year. The class size is small and I feel she really knows my child and truly cares about his growth. Works are often rotated to keep the interest of the children and the classroom is a very inviting space for them. You will be amazed at how your child will truly blossom in this environment!
