we held our engagement party here and paid for all the food and drink upfront (£1800) we specified that as 90% of our guests don't eat pork for religious reasons, we would prefer for all the pork on the menu to be substituted with a lamb dish. we were also told that on the day, when we arrived, the tables etc would all be set up ready for us.
we arrived to find people eating in our private area, nothing set up and as a result, my fiance and i, dressed in our gown and suit had to arrange the tables ourselves and delay our guests.
to our horror, as the food started to be dished out, i noticed pork sausages being piled onto people's plates! when i called the manager out -Bardi- to discuss this he was very rude! Might I add that in this whole time he had not come out once to greet us or see how the evening was going. the entire evening was chaotic, with one waiter in particular breaking a glass candelabra belonging to me personally, 2 plates belonging to the bar and 3 glasses (over two guests!) no apologies were made!
at the end of the evening, we were called to the bar to settle a £98 bill for additional drink that are guests had ordered and not paid for. we had specifically told the owner that a we has generously supplied a copious amount of alcohol for our guests, payment would need to be taken for any additional drinks. I also reminded the manager, Bardi, that as a result of the pork fiasco, our guests were short 1 meat option the entire night and that no effort was made to rectify this despite the fact that the food had been paid for. As a result, Bardi broke into a fit of shouting- telling us that we either pay the bill immediately or we vacate the premise.
Our wedding reception (with an £8,000 minimum spend)has also been booked at the venue in a few months time and we were threatened that were the bill not paid, we would have to find ourselves a new wedding venue. We left without paying the £98 balance.
Might I add that the food is outstanding and the venue setting stunning, but there needs to be a huge overhaul of management or introduction of customer service training before we would ever consider setting fo in there again! read more
