The ambience, food, service and hospitality here is 5 star and despite the fact that the place was completely full on a Wednesday night the service was friendly and very warm. A friend suggested we go here and, whilst I have walked past this place many times, never bothered to try it. He has been a regular here for years and loves it and, I fully understand why :-)) The food menu is small but has some really nice Austrian specialities. I had the Streier Steak and it was crusted with a KürbiskernePesto which was fabulous and came with a side of homemade chips :-))) I loved the steak and it was cooked to perfection :-) For dessert we had the Wiener-Kaiserschmarrn and the Salzburger nockerl and I loved both dishes thoroughly. Cranberries, Currants and nice moist pancake and meringue. Austrians do fabulous desserts and this place is no exception :-)) I will definitely return for wonderful atmosphere and delicious Austrian fare. At a minimum I know where to come for a dose of Kurbiskernöl and other such wonderful delicacies :-)) Last but not least they have a decent wine by the glass and some ok wines by the bottle. They have an extensive menu of cocktails and spirits if that is what you fancy.

They have stunning smoked salmon, excellent eggs made in every way, killer German apple-pancakes, and "Zupper-Gut" baked goods (like homemade chocolate Brotchen) that will make you cry with morning joy. I just recommend that if you do have a kid with you - get them Fu-king Drunk. Afterall, it is legal in Germany, and a drunk kid is friggin' hilarious.

I had the US Entrecôte steak and you get to see all the meat in a cabinet and it looked great with a nice bit of marbling through it. I would probably estimate it at a 7-8 for marbling. I asked for it medium rare. When the steak arrived it was cooked just the way I like it and it was so easy to cut through. I ordered a pepper sauce to go with it and unfortunately for me the sauce was not peppery enough and lacked a bit of flavour. I am used to bold and intense pepper sauces and this one unfortunately for me did not meet the mark. Hence the 4 stars. The rosemary kartoffelen I had with the main was delicious and the spinach side was also very good, I would happily come back for steak here anyway and perhaps try a different sauce or just with a bit of hot English mustard if you can get such things (must remember to ask).
