The salty lassi is must in lunch it just goes super well with your meal and is absolutely refreshing in this summer heat. We also ordered methi malai paneer which was a bit spice but had nice flavours. I would not recommend the pasanda paneer here though and also the shikanji. If I order this, I don't typically need an entree. The pakora and samosas that come with it are great, I usually replace the chicken samosa with a veggie one though, personal preference. Their naan is great. I've tried 3 or 4 different ones, and have yet to be disappointed. The reason this place only gets three stars though is that their entrees really aren't that good. It's all bland, it lacks basic spices. I don't mean heat, but that is lacking a bit too. The butter chicken is meh, the biryani aren't anything special, their curries are lackluster. Daughter and I found the restaurant had moved to a new location since our last trip, and into a building that we were familiar with, and much larger than the former one they occupied previously. We called one afternoon to ensure they would be open at the time we wished to dine, and in a couple of hours were there and settled in for what we hoped would be an exciting new dining experience. We went in knowing quite little about Indian food, but had studied their menu beforehand back at the hotel, and took it with us to the restaurant. We showed her the dishes we had checked off as 'possibles' and sought her suggestions. This worked out perfectly -- we discussed all dishes, narrowed them down to a nice variety, and ordered. For a first time experience, I believe we did very well. We ended up with a rather nice selection of dishes - from appetizers to main dishes - a good variety of introductory tastes, and wonderful flavours. We had ordered 'mild' - the foods were definitely spicy, but about perfect for the three of us. We hope to have the opportunity to dine there again, and now have a good idea on how and what to order, and are looking forward to it. We visited on a weekday evening when the restaurant appeared to be only about 40-50% full, so it wasn't a matter of being overwhelmed with customers. The service was extremely disappointing. Our waitress seemed uninterested in serving us and was slow to take our order. We ordered chai, but it arrived only lukewarm. When we politely asked if it could be reheated, she reacted as though we were making an unreasonable request. She took the cup away and never brought it back. After waiting for quite some time, I had to leave my booth and find another server just to ask what had happened to our tea. By the time it finally returned, we were nearly finished with our meal, and it was still only lukewarm. To make matters worse, no one checked on our table during the meal, and our water glasses were never refilled. The lack of attentiveness and basic customer service was very frustrating. What disappointed us most was how dramatically different this experience was compared to the excellent service, cleanliness, and hospitality we have consistently received at the Abbotsford location. Based on this visit, we would not return to the Chilliwack branch and hope management takes steps to improve both service and attention to customers.
