What if I told you that there's a place where you can buy a 55 peso all-beef quarter pounder topped with cheese, lettuce and tomatoes? Well, that place (to my surprise) exists. Garahe Burger N Burrito is a fairly hidden little home-business located in Hulo, Mandaluyong, near Mandaluyong Science High School. When you walk in, it feels like a makeshift restaurant, which is a good thing actually. It certainly evokes the "Garahe" vibe that the restaurant goes for. Garaheng garahe talaga siya guys. Moreso, the place is packed all the time: probably because there are lots of students around the area.
Food-wise, Garahe is rock solid. The burgers taste great, particularly the bacon burger. The beef's well cooked, the sauce on the burger tastes awesome, and it's just all-around solid. AND THE BURGERS COST 55 PESOS. That's probably thing that I have to emphasize here. This type of burger would probably cost around 150 upwards in any other place, but not here. There's also a decent assortment of sides and drinks. They offer chocolate and strawberry milkshakes (which are delicious by the way) for 40 pesos, as well as burritos and pasta.
Garahe is what I like to see in a home business: people making home-cooked food with lots of love and lots of authenticity, and offering it at a low price point. Hopefully, them continuing to be successful could lead to expansion of the business. This is the future of Filipino food. read more
