Outside, there was a mild scent of garage and sewer. Once we got in, there was no sales associate to greet and hand us the Kohl's cash. I had to find a sales associate who later told me since they have limited staffing - you get your Kohl's cash at checkout only. I asked if we can get it prior to checkout to see if we won big jokingly, and she said no. So, no way to know how much you'll get off until you're rung up. This was later incorrect, as I was checking out - a kinder associate gave a Kohl's cash handout to another customer. I understand that low staffing can be tough, but I wish there was a more centralized protocol in place. Also, there are self checkout options now, which couldn't be utilized for the Kohl's cash giveaway - amounting to longer waits at checkout. Clothes and stuff were fine - original prices are a bit steep for the quality; likely since they mark up with the intention to put things on sale to try and attract customers. Overall, I recommend improvements with management.

We aren't familiar with the store layout and were talking amongst ourselves as to where men's pajamas could be. An employee who was close enough to hear us made a bee-line away being sure not to make eye contact. Once we found the department, we are talking to each other about where the flannel sets may be located. A second employee followed the example of our previous encounter. We did find what we wanted. No prices are listed nearby or on the garments. Now to find a cashier. We walk around looking. None of the customer service desks are manned. We finally find an employee who is able, and willing, to check us out. That was an unpleasant interaction. Our pajamas were sixty dollars and I apparantly am an ignorant human according to the cashier for not agreeing with their opinions. Brilliant.

They are always on trend and have looks for nights out or just casual everyday wear. I also love their price point. I'm an outfit snob whereas I don't repeat a look for a special event or occasion. When the sizes she took in with her turned out to be way too big, the woman assisting her jumped right in and helped her with everything. The clothes are nice -- relaxed, casual separates and dresses with a toned-down color palate and tasteful hems. They have a few accessories like scarves and necklaces, and everything is of a quality you'd expect from a nicer chain store. The thing that impressed me the most was when a linen button down my mother absolutely loved wasn't in stock in her size, one of the women hopped on the computer and called several stores to locate it for her and have it directly shipped to her. I've seen this done at higher end department stores like Nordstrom and Saks, but never at a chain like this. Even though the top was a sale item and these women do not work on commission, this women went out of her way to make my mom happy, and for that I will forever be impressed with this J Jill.

I didn't really know what to start as I was unsure about the styles and sizes. I grabbed a few leggings thinking I would just figure it out on my own. When I asked for a fitting room, I mentioned to the employee it was my first experience and I would have questions. From that moment on she clung to me like my personal shopper. She was grabbing different leggings and sizes to help me find the perfect fit. She was honest about the material, wear and tear, and for that I am so grateful. I walked out of there with my first pair of leggings, less intimidation of the store, and knowledge about the sizes and styles. Thank you! (I think her name was Julianne). I hope my other experiences are as great as this one. As for the store, it is very quaint but also has a homey feel to it. If you are not from Newport, they offer a post card with their favorite places to eat, things to see and do. I thought that was a nice touch for this local shop.
